Angel's MAW DREAM Cruise & extended days at wdw: 4/13-25/2013. UPDATED 8/16

My mom is still not feeling well.
School is going to be out in a couple weeks, so I should be able to start some of the TR soon. :)

Hope your mom has gotten better, or is getting better.

Getting a bit concerned here...

joining in.
Hope your mom feels better soon

Thank you so much for all of the prayers & concern.

I'm still not feeling the best, but I miss my DIS time so much, so I'm going to try to be on more & get caught up. Angel finished school Friday, so we should be able to start the TR. :) It probably won't be until Tues. though, because we don't get to spend much time with Tom except on Sundays (he's still working tons of overtime), and Angel & I have to go to town Mon. for our monthly groceries.

I'm going to try to catch up on responding to all of the posts now, but the reason I'm up is that I couldn't sleep because I'm not feeling well, so hopefully I'll feel better & can go back to bed, so I may not get all of them answered yet.

Been so long since I've been on the DIS, that I forgot that it goes down every morning. :( Thanks to one of Judy's posts, I worked on some replies on Word during that time. :)

I can't wait to hear all about it!!!

Jackie

Thanks Jackie  I'm looking forward to catching up on your thread.

Glad to hear that it was an overall good trip! And good luck with unpacking and getting back to your routines. Hopefully going through the pictures is fun and helps you remember all the fun highlights of your trip! Good luck with getting things disinfected... That part really doesn't sound like much fun.

I can't wait to hear more about your adventure!

Thanks Jessica  I'm still not done unpacking. :( Not feeling well has put me so behind on everything, and I have a lot to get caught up on, which is very discouraging. I'll be glad when I finally have it all under control again. I did finally get the pictures on to the computer last night, and it was fun to look through them. ::yes:: No, disinfecting everything isn't fun at all. :sad2:

Subbing to this thread too. Can't wait, but take as much time as you need. No rush-we are all here on the ride for you! Hugs!

Thank you Jill

SOOOO excited you have started! LOVE the family picture. Sorry to hear there was a few problems; but, YEA for Cutie being better!

Thank you Judy  So sorry I haven’t been on your thread, but your family is always in our prayers.

LOVE the picture!!! looking forward to getting the report :)

Thanks Gretchen

Found your TR and that's a wonderful family photo from your cruise! Glad to hear that Cutie Pie is fine. Wow, that's a lot of photos and can't wait to see them and read about your trip.

Thank you Gail

I'm in... once again, my family get's to live a Disney Cruise, through the eyes of another family. First Nemel, now you.
It gives us a chance to be really prepared as we take notes of what to look out for.:hyper::hyper::hyper:

Thank you  Angel & I both read as much as possible on the Cruise Forum, and those notes helped us immensely. We looked at the deck plans beforehand, so we weren’t totally lost (though there are some places that are a little tricky, so we did still get lost a little :o ). We had looked at recent Navigators, so we had some ideas of what we’d like to try to do. I’m glad we did, because we were always so tired by time we got back to the room each night, and didn’t have a lot of time to look at the Navigator to make plans for the next day. Have you decided which dining time you’d prefer? We really thought we wanted late, but we wish we had done main instead. We’ll be happy to answer any questions you have. You’re going to have a fantastic time!

Glad the trip went well, I am looking forward to the pics!!
I enjoy reading everyones trip reports, I did not even know about DisBoards when Brooklin had her Make A Wish trip to Disney World in 2011, I found it during research for our second trip to Disney World.
God Bless!!

Thank you Bella

I'm subbed. Can't wait to see what adventures you had.

Thank you Sarah  We loved seeing your family so much on the cruise. :lovestruc There were many times that we saw you from a far too. :) Angel was showing me some of your TR, and I’m looking forward to reading it all myself.

Wonderful picture! I look forward to hearing all about your trip!

Yay, I caught up. :cheer2: Now to catch you up on what's been going on here. :)

I'm still not feeling the best, but it's better than it has been. :)

I wasn't feeling up to going to town for the groceries Mon. as planned, but was feeling better that night. The forecast for Tues. was rain, and I had been feeling worse in the mornings, so I considered going in for the groceries when Tom went to bed Mon., but Angel said she was too tired. I couldn't sleep, so I went in and woke her up about 3am, and said I'd take her to Steak & Shake for 1/2 price shakes if she went with me to get the groceries. She wasn't exactly thrilled with the idea, but finally agreed. Yes, it was crazy :teeth: , but the store is practically empty overnight, and we avoided the rain.

Glad school's finally done. :) They had an extra week due to weather closings. Angel got all A's again this quarter. :cheer2: (one shy of having all A+ again too) I had emailed the superintendent and principal after last quarter, about the unearned low grade from 1st semester, and neither even bothered to reply. :sad2: Angel decided to try to pursue the issue herself, and made an appointment to speak to the superintendent. (she's very shy, so this was a major undertaking for her) He still wouldn't remove the grade, but was willing to allow her to retake the class (the issue was that the teacher did not provide what she needed when she was not attending school). Further discussion with the principal pointed out that there were some potential issues with that solution that could still end up lowering her class ranking, so they offered a different solution - an online summer course. The downside to that is that we have to pay for it (and it's not cheap), and that she has to do school work during the summer, but not doing it would have a major impact on her GPA & class ranking, so we're doing it. Wish the school would have taken care of the situation when it first started last Fall. The material arrived already this week, so she'll probably start it tomorrow.

Angel's had her driving permit since Dec., and did the classroom book portion 3rd quarter. She couldn't take the classroom driving portion because of her low platelets, and will take it in the fall. The Dr. has cleared her to drive (I still don't understand why it's ok for her to drive, yet she can't take PE. :confused3 ), and last weekend was the first time that it hasn't been raining, and that Tom had a Sat. off, so she had her first actual driving lesson. :drive: This is me - :faint: Tom did the teaching, and I sat in the back, and I was a total wreck. :scared: I chose to stay home when they went out again Sun. :)

Angel had a clinic appt. the beginning of May, and all her counts were up a little bit. Not much, but improvement of any kind is always good. :) Dr. decided to have her wait 6 weeks for the next appt. instead of 4, and that's hard, not knowing how her immune system is doing.

We're still battling ants. Very grateful that they seem to have stayed away while we were on the trip. They came back shortly after we returned, but in a different place in the kitchen. The bait traps worked again, but then we had ants coming in the original spot from last fall, on the other side of the kitchen. Can't know for sure, but we think we're dealing with multiple colonies. Had more coming in yet a 4th spot in the kitchen. Haven't seen any in a few days, but I haven't felt confident enough to move our food back into the cupboards yet, which has been a major inconvenience.

We found out that the National Honor Society application requires quite a bit of school activities, as well as activities outside of school, and volunteer work. Normally, that wouldn't have been a problem for her, but under the circumstances, she hasn't been involved in much at all. She volunteered to help with our library's Summer Reading Program, which started this week. She helps with crafts and other tasks every Wed. this month, from 10-4:30. It was a long day for her, she's not used to much activity. :)

Unbelievably, I'm still having problems with our MAW coordinator. :( She had told us to do something in Jan., and said we would be reimbursed for it (and I have it in writing). When we received the final information packet & expense card, that reimbursement wasn't included, so I emailed her to ask about it. She said a check would be mailed 4/3. After the trip, we still hadn't received it, so I emailed her again. No response. I waited 2 weeks, and have emailed her once a week since, and the only reply I've gotten is one automated email I got 3 weeks ago saying she'd be out of the office for 3 days. The reimbursement would really be nice, but what really irritates me is that she won't even reply to my emails, and I have been very polite all along.

Angel was invited to attend Camp COCO (children's oncology camp organization) for a week in July. It's located about 90 minutes from here, run by a school of medicine, and a nurse, tech, and the Child Life Specialist from clinic are part of the staff of Drs. & nurses that provide care. Tom and I aren't exactly comfortable with the idea, but decided to let her go. The acceptance letter was supposed to be here by the first week of June, so we're getting a little worried that maybe they didn't receive her application.

Tom's vehicle is having several major problems, and it's difficult to have it worked on with the hours that he's working.

Our area has had lots of rain, and the ground is too saturated. Areas are flooding that don't have a river or other source that is the typical cause of flooding. If you happened to see the footage of the water breaking through the college doors - that's our local community college about 16 miles from us, in the town that Tom works in. We've been fortunate that we only have had minor water in our basement. Angel had classmates that actually canoed in their yards. Tom managed to make it home on 2 different occasions before most of the roads between home & work closed down.

Sorry for such a long post, but I hadn't updated for about 2 months.

Hoping to feel well enough today to finally start the TR. We're going to post in short sections though, but will post several sections at time if we manage to have time to do so.

I want to post links on her Caringbridge page for our TR posts, but I don't want to have everyone that reads her CB page to have total access to our DIS threads, so I'm going to re-do the 1st post of this thread & re-post it without the PTR link (I know that the links are still in my signature, but it's not as obvious as having the link in the text.). Sorry for the duplication.

Hi :wave2: Our little family consists of me, Christi, my wonderful husband Tom, and our 15 year old daughter Angel.

This picture is one of the ones we were able to get with H2OMama's gift. :goodvibes

Angel was very unexpectedly diagnosed with Severe Aplastic Anemia (a bone marrow failure) in early 2012. The details of her diagnosis can be found in our pretrip report.

Angel's diagnosis qualified her for Make a Wish. In Dec. she made her Wish: to go on a 7-night Western Caribbean cruise on the Disney Fantasy, but our MAW chapter would only grant the Disney Dream.

There were a few problems on the trip, but overall it was wonderful. :beach:

We're looking forward to sharing all about it, but I have a feeling it will take us some time to do so. Angel took over 800 pictures on just the cruise portion of our trip :faint: , so it's going to take some time to get them organized.

Christi, Glad that you are feeling a little better. I would be upset too having to pay for an online course when the teacher is the one that fell down on the job to provide what Angel needed for to do her homework for that class. :rotfl: about not wanting to join Angel and Tom on her driving lessons anymore! It reminds me of my sister. My dad took her out driving and came back telling my mom that she'll have to take my sister out driving from now on. She must have scared dad pretty bad! :rotfl2: Sorry that you still have to deal with those ants and that Tom's car is acting up. Maybe if you don't hear from the MAW coordinator that you can go to the person above her to get reimbursed? Keeping all your needs in prayer!

Judy, Pete, Christian, David, Rachel and Lisa

I miss you Christi, praying all is well!

:lmao: I love it. Sounds like me! Last time I came home from two weeks at Disney I estimated 2000 pics... When I put them on the computer there was over 3000! :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:
