Has Anyone Thought of "It" This Way?

WARNING: Another FP+ thread, but this question is short and simple.

With all the negativity directing toward FP+, I'm left to wonder if anyone remembers the initial anticipation and reaction to the original FASTPASS (you know, the one that everyone wishes would stay). Does anyone else remember the original "death of spontaneity at WDW"? Well, fourteen years later, we've learned how to use the system to our advantage and we're begging for it to stay. Could history repeat itself with FP+? Personally, I feel that sometimes it's appropriate to have some "blind confidence". Not necessarily saying that I'm excited, but I'm reserving judgement until things get rolling. Thoughts?

Good point!!! Way to go Andyman8.....I love the positive attitude!

too many WDW trips to mention, 2007 Wonder Concierge, January 2013 Wonder Concierge, March 2014 Walter E. Disney Suite (finally!!!!)

If there was much dread over the coming of FP, it was extremely isolated.

You mean we shouldn't fear the unknown and cling blindly to what we do know? I'm not sure there are many here on the DIS that have that level of self-control. :3dglasses

Agree. I don't think the word got out ahead of time and the internet boards weren't as big as now to discuss it to death or spread rumors.

There are still people who don't understand how the current fastpass works and I don't think the majority of visitors are going to know much about the new way when it first comes out. Advantage to those of us who do! ;)

I loved original FP from the get go. FP+ can take a long walk off a short pier.

Speaking for myself, I don't fear "change," per se.
What I fear is the law of "unintended consequences."
That law has inflicted itself on many a corporate "decision."

We know the limitations of the "classic" FP system.
We know the limitations and finite parameters of the various attractions.

In knowing them, we look to what has been said about the "new" FP system.

Extrapolating the numbers results in many "what if's" and "consequences"
(very likely many of them "unintended") that are apparent in the
promised "improvements."

I am not really fearing FP+, I actually find all of this fascinating. No one knows much of anything, most people are fretful, etc.

I am just upset that black is not a color option for the Magic Bands. ;)

(Yep, I keep bringing it up, hoping someone with some pull sees this and has pity on me.)

I have a hard time wrapping my mind around the staggering amount of money spent on fancy technology when WDW desperately needs new attractions.

I agree! People don't realize that change can be a good thing.

Fast pass promised shorter wait times when none were ever even imagined. Now we know that fast ain't so fast. FP with a + is not convincing enough to make me twitterpated jumping up and now booking the soonest date to get a feel for it. NOPE. I'm waiting for LUDICROUS SPEED PASS!
