Guest Test of Magic Bands (Official Notice)

If you go into friends and family. And i clicked on each of my family members. Theres a spot to click on magic band. When i did it pulled up a number and asked if i wanted to deactivate it or report it lost.

If you have stayed at Disney and claimed a reservation and performed Online Check In for it in the past it will show the new room keys as Magic Bands. They have RFID chips inthem and MDX just recognizes that. The shape of the icon will be different in MDX. It will be a rectangle with the Mickey icon if it is a card and it will be rounder (more band shaped) if it is an actual MagicBand. Hope this helps!

Interesting. If you click on My Reservations, a section called Paperless Tickets and Passes now comes up with some of my old tickets. Weird.

I checked mde on my android phone:
Under my profile I see nothing re: tickets even though rfid Ap should be on there but it's not.
Dh controls his own info so can't see anything in regards tickets/magic bands whatever they are this week. He has new rfid AP he got on May 16th.
Friend #1 who travelled with us for May 2013 trip shows two Magic band cards under his info, Who knows if one of those numbers is my AP or Dh's Ap or if they are both friend #1 cards who also has an Ap and renewed it from a pkg ticket on may 16th.
Friend# 2 who was listed on Adr's but never on room pkg has nothing listed under her tickets etc.

I last stayed in January. Going back this August. Did online check in already, and nothing shows in my tickets section on the app!:confused3
Not only that but in my past tickets, it says I have no past trips!! I've been going twice a year for many years !!

I had to go in and link each ticket individually. Then I had to match each ticket to a person. Then I had to add each person as a "person I travel with". Only then did my tickets appear, but only in the app. I can't view them on the website. So my suggestion, check to make sure you have linked and matched everything correctly.

Why you have no past trips? Who knows! The way MDE has been working or not working for people, you are probably lucky you have anything.

I tried to link our passes, app not letting me :(. Guess I will have to phone IT.

I tried a few times to add my ticket numbers and the app kept saying it didn't recognise them. I then tried scanning the barcodes and the app still wouldn't recognise them. After multiple failed attempts I got a message to ring tech support.

Worried there was something wrong with my tickets I made the international phone call.

The CM didn't even bother asking about my ticket details. He just said that it was impossible to link my tickets at present because this part of the app is still in the testing stage and isn't yet functional. It's apparently only showing on my app because Disney is playing around with the website. To be honest I'm feeling quite annoyed. I'm happy for Disney to test and trial away, but they should put a message on their app saying this. Instead I get a message telling me to call them. I feel like I wasted time and a toll call for absolutely no benefit.

There is currently no point in doing so as far as I know, the systems don't join up yet.

Andre

I only went ahead and did it because

1. We always put our ticket on the KTTW anyway, so I'm hoping this might speed that up since we didn't buy our tickets direct from Disney. Now they are already in electronic form.

2. We are staying at AKL. If there is even the smallest chance we might be able to test the magic bands in Sept. I wanted my ticket in the system. I know our chance is very small, but just in case.

3. I didn't really see that it would hurt. Even if it all gets screwed up. We have our receipt and the original paper tickets. Disney will fix it when we check in.

Had another chat session with Guest Services today. The CM told me that testing was ongoing and that adding tickets to a reservation would have no impact- that it was only based on specific dates and on specific resorts at this point. She also said that people involved in testing would be invited by e-mail anywhere from 3 weeks prior to their trip up to and including day of arrival. Finally, she told me that the only tickets that could be added at this time were regular tickets, not annual passes. (Again, I assume that since people have added APs and AP vouchers to their profiles this means to an actual reservation, not to a profile.)

Thought I would pass this info along for anyone with upcoming trips. We go in less than 2 weeks, so I will continue checking!

MY ap is part of my profile when it chooses to stay there, no room ressie currently in system.

This thread is making me thankful that my kids really really enjoy pool time just as much as being in the parks! ;)

Looks like we'll be doing lots of swimming and less rides...

:thumbsup2

Ouch ive got a headache.... think our disney days are over. Universals system seems easier and ALOT less stressful !!!!

And I totally agree. I have NO desire to experience everything being planned out. We much prefer to play everything by ear.

WDW is getting too complicated. Glad I am not the only one who feels this way.

I know you don't need tickets to be picked for testing. But it is my understanding that you can't book fast pass plus without a ticket in the system. Maybe that's wrong. I thought last test the fast pass option appeared under the ticket info.

Yes, I could wait and add them later if we happen to be able to test since we are staying at one of the hotels set up for testing. But I prefer to just get everything done at once.

You do appear to need a ticket in the system to make FP+ selections. But no one other than the testers can do that, and the test is over anyways.

Although it seems like a good idea to "get it over with", I still HIGHLY RECOMMEND NO ONE ENTER THEIR TICKETS YET. From all the reports, at a minimum it seems to result in some frustration, and people are calling the MDX support line over these problems while both the web site and the app are obviously in flux, to do something that would probably only save you a couple minutes later on when doing so might actually give you access to features...

I agree- too iffy! It did sound like there were still tests ongoing, and that you would still have access to FP+ if chosen either way. However, I also know that depending on the CM you get to talk to the information may be no more reliable than listening to a bus driver. :rotfl2:

Just thought I would pass on what I was told in case anyone was interested. Still not adding my AP to my reservation OR my profile right now.

Ok..I'm going to be bold here and post something.

The thing is that most people use FP because they hate the idea of waiting in line. I've been to Cedar Point...I'm used to waiting 3 hours for Top Thrill Dragster (which is a 17 second 400 ft coaster) and every other ride at that park during 99% of the operating season...it doesn't bother me. I understand that WDW has more than CP however I still don't see it being hard to hit 90% of the rides in a day. If you hit during meal times and parade times like you would at any other amusement park then you'll be fine. Will I use it for things like ToT, RnRC, SM, Space Mountain, Test Track and Everest? Absolutely only because they are the popular ones and I know the wait will be long. Here's my thing. The GP (general public) will wait in line regardless. Disney makes it that much better because unlike hot sunny queue lines at any amusement park...theirs are themed. So it makes it fun. When one goes to Disney you expect to have to wait in line at MK and the other top rides.

That being said. I too am a planner and I love the idea of being able to plan a bit ahead of time as to have an idea of what I may be hitting and in which order to do the rest of the park. I'm going in September of 2014. I'm staying onsite at FW in a tent by myself. I'll take full advantage of single rider lines but I'm also willing to wait because its been almost 20 years since I went last. FP+ limiting me to 3 rides a day....not a huge deal! You decide which three you have to ride and go with the flow the rest of the time. My issue is the same as some others here....what happens if/when the system fails as most systems do if overloaded or a heaven forbid a virus gets in there.

JMO!

It seems that Kevin Yee has heard that the Fastpass+ test was successful, to his surprise...too bad he apparently didn't talk to the people in the test, as he still seems to think they weren't able to use the regular FP system...I'm too lazy to register an account to clue him in...
