Cruisin into Spring Training-VWL & 4 Nt Dream 3/22-28/13 COMPLETE! 8/11

Okay so Nassau is in the Bahamas. Is Atlantis worth making a special trip for?

Yes- Atlantis is very cool- the aquariums alone are magnificent! We are planning to head down there when the boys are in college for a long weekend getaway-

Hi Ellen
Just stopping by to tell you how much I enjoy your trip reports. Way to go Timmy on your awards!

One of our grandson's is staying with us for a few months, until school and baseball season is over, and he sounds just like Timmy. His parents got new jobs in another city three hours away. He's on a AAA baseball team and plays hockey in the winter (goalie) like many canadian boys. We are so proud of him too. We are so busy with games/practices every night, tournaments on the weekends, etc. I don't know how I did it when my kids were young. We're retired now, so have lots of time for games, etc., but it is still tiring. So, I understand how busy you must be, with three growing/active boys!

By the way, I'm a grandma and I certainly know better to alternate purchasing wine for the table on a cruise!

Thanks again for giving us many hours of enjoyment with your trip reports. I love, love, love reading them! You have given me lots of great tips for our trips to WDW and even for our trip last year to NYC. I don't know why I haven't posted before, but want you to know that there are probably many people like me enjoying your reports.

Nora

Wow, Nora! Thank you so much!!! What a lovely bunch of compliments, I am blushing!

Congrats to Timmy for his awards!

Love the pics of Nassau! That water is so pretty.

That Mini golf course looks fun!

Love the pics you take of your toes! Can't go wrong with a little pool time and proof you were there, LOL!

Haha- i always loved everryone else's toe pics, so of course I had to take my own!

Hi Ellen! I got WAY behind on all things DIS, but I am caught up now. :cool1:

How amazing about your table-mates. And how great! I can't imagine how unpleasant it would be to be sat with folks who were unfriendly or with whom you had nothing in common.

How wonderful about Timmy's award. You must be so proud! pixiedust:

Thanks for all the updates - I am going to try to stay caught up better. Life - always getting in the way.....

Your DD will go CRAZY in those clubs! Can't wait to hear how she likes them-

And life does get in the way of the Dising- especially the month of June!

I think Royal Palace was my favorite restautant !!! Cabanas buffet the day we boarded was pretty darn good also!!!!

My favorite things are the truffle purses app and this pasta they did not have this time- it has a white sauce and shrimp and scallops- I'm hoping they have it on the Fantasy because the 7 night has different menus.

Can't wait to have that again!

I remember a couple at the table got the truffle purses appie and said it was delish !!!

Just posting to say how I'm looking forward to meeting you and I guess anewmac on your trip on August! Love DISmeets! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Hey! I finally made it back on the DIS! Gotta love a spring with baseball, work, and work that blocks the DIS now! :crazy2:

ALl caught up with your handy dandy links! It sounds as if you're having a blast!

Well, I am back- briefly- from baseball travels! So, here's an update!

I think at about 4:00 I headed to Skyline for the Mixology class- I had successfully switched my ticket to the one for today from the one on the sea day (after Bette told me today was the DIS one). I took a seat with Princess Bette and ssnow32539 & her DH in the corner. Let the mixing begin!

Today we were making 4 cocktails in mini glasses. For each drink, several volunteers went up and made drinks for the group. This was the first-

I am so sorry, but I don't recall what it was- other than very sweet. Maybe a sloe gin fizz? Bette got a call, and had to leave....and sadly, never made it back, AND... I never saw her again. :sad1:

Next I went up, because we were making a layered shot, and I have always wanted to learn how to do that- this was a B-52-

It was Kahlua, Bailey's and Grand Marnier. You layered with the sweetest from the bottom up and poured slowly and carefully over the back of a spoon. It was really challenging (especially with 20 people watching you!), but I did it! Three times, in fact! And MMMMMMM....was that shot GOOOOOOOD! Snow made some too!

Next was a caipirinha- which is made with cachaca and she made it with muddled berries.

That was probably my least favorite, but I don't like Cachaca (it's a brazilian rum and it has a flavor I don't like). There was a fourth cocktail, but I don't recall what it was, largely due to the fact that for some reason I did not take a photo of it. We did have Snow's hubby take our photo, though-

That was a REALLY fun class- I would book it again, and at $15, it was a great deal!

Back to the cabin for a much needed shower- and then a peek out our port hole-

A little later, after the show, which was the Magic Show (I did get to see it, after all! Loved it!) dinner was at RP- and I agree, Rosie- it is an awesome meal. To start, I ordered a bottle of wine to share....then I had some escargot-Escargots Gratinés
Herb-marinated Snails with Finely Chopped Mushrooms, topped with Garlic Butter and Breadstick

They were pretty good (but I like the truffle purses MUCH better).

Timmy ordered Iced Lobster and Jumbo Shrimp
White and Green Asparagus, Micro Greens and Lemon-dill dressing with Horseradish Cream

He ate every bite! He does love him some shrimp- Then he had Baked Farm-Raised Organic Chicken Breast
Filled with Escarole, Raisins and Pine Nuts on Wild Rice with a Red Wine reduction

I had Double Cut Rack of Lamb with a Dijon Crust
With fine Green Beans, Gratin Potatoes and Rosemary Jus

I had this on my first DCL cruise on the magic an few years back- much, much better this time! Right after dinner, Timmy skeedaddled- I think both he and Avery could barely wait to finish dinner asap so they could leave! :rotfl: Good for them! I said good bye to my tablemates, too, and went to MY favorite club- the Alex club!

Tonight- I spent more than an hour in there. A LOT more, lol! Two other CMs (One the DCL bev manager and the other an Epcot mgr) were at the Alex club too- those women attracted a bunch of visits from the crew- it was an interesting night! We all were enjoying the Moet Ice- and hangin with Alex- she really is the best bartender on the Dream.

It was time to say Goodnight to the girls, and then I had one more thing to do before bed....

Tonight was one of those extra time in port nights- for the crew, as a reward for getting stellar reviews and accolades from guests. So that meant that we were still in Nassau at night- and would be until the wee hours. Which meant that I could get a photo from the port of the Dream at night. I promised Alex and the two other CMs I would NOT get off the ship alone- so, I went back to the cabin to get Timmy. This bunny was waiting for us-

Off the ship...it began to rain. So VERY quickly, I took two VERY bad photos...

and then ran back to the ship! :rotfl: At least now Timmy can say he's been to Nassau, LOL! :rotfl2:

Time for bed- tomorrow was Castaway Cay day!:woohoo:

I remember a couple at the table got the truffle purses appie and said it was delish !!!

If you like truffles, that is a great one to have! :thumbsup2

ME TOO!!!!!!! :hyper: Thanks for making the trip twice to hang- you will love anewmac- she is soooo funny, but more importantly, she is a really great and good person. :lovestruc

Welcome back! To both of us, LOL! :rotfl: That baseball....it sure is time consuming.... especially when it involves 20 hours of driving to play 4 two hour time limit games.

We will have to do the Mixology class on the Fantasy! Steve and I love going to the different tastings and this is one that we have not done yet.

Enjoy the rest of your baseball season. Shawn's team (1st year of kid pitch) was the top place team for the regular season and then lost in the first game of playoffs - so we are done for the season. The 1st year of kid pitch has to be the most painful year for parents to watch. I thought I would have a heart attack when he pitched.

Love your pics of the Dream at night! How often does that happen that the ship stays there late?

We'll go with you! That's one I could do again and again- they make different drinks every time. :goodvibes

UGH- pitching. Timmy pitches- it is the most stressful position for the moms, even at his level! LOL- sorry Kristi! :rotfl: But congrats to his team having such a great season!

I'm not sure- I know Alex was not getting off, but we did speak to a lot of CMs who were, and saw a few getting back on the ship- they seemed pretty happy, lol. I think they were at Senor Frogs'.

Hmmm...I've got Kahlua downstairs. And Baileys. And Grand Marnier. Hmmm....

The Mixology class looks very fun! Definitely a bargain. Love it!

:rotfl2: The Alex club! :rotfl2:

Dinner looks relish!

Love that you ran off and on the boat and got your night time picture! :thumbsup2

Just pour carefully! And practice LOTS! You WILL want more! :thumbsup2 :rotfl:

The tip they gave was to always put the sweetest liquor on the bottom, because the sweeter it is, the heavier it is. Hmmm..... bet there's a whole bunch of concoctions we could come up with-

Very fun class! And I feel so educated now!

:rotfl2: The Alex club! :rotfl2:

Best club on the ship! :rotfl:

Yea- but it was raining and the pic was stinky! I was so mad I didn't bring my monopod with me-

That class sounds very interesting !!That layered drink in particular!!

That layered drink in particular was yummmm-ooooooh-my!:goodvibes

We did that same drink on the Magic in April, but they served us the first two layers already poured and then sent around a bottle of Grand Mariner (was that the last one?) for us to pour on top of the first two. It was so good! I love those tastings. I finally figured out that it's not what I eat on vacation, but what I drink that causes me to gain so much weight! :p I'm going to have to work that one out before the F&W trip coming up! :rotfl2:
