Our little thread of BIG Resort changes*OLD THREAD link on last pg. to new thread!

TA is going to call and check on pricing if I modify my existing discounted reservation!!

Option 1 -- 8/1-8/9 CBR pirate room

Option 2 -- 8/1-8/4 CBR pirate room
8/4-8/8 CR GW (or Poly SV)

Option 3 -- 8/1-8/6 CBR pirate room
8/6-8/8 CR GW (or Poly SV)

Of course after I ask him to check all of that, I am asking myself what on earth I'm thinking by cutting vacation short a day in order to pack up and move... All for a few nights in a deluxe resort? Which most likely wouldn't matter except for a bit more convenient for a few days with the monorail...no, no, no...it is not worth the lost time, more money, and a possibly PO'd DH for going ahead with a split stay when he already nixed the idea...

I have issues!! :-)

Waving hi to all my RC friends! Hope you are all having a lovely Saturday! :goodvibes Will pop back in later....

Thanks pas130 for your help. We'll be at Univ or WDW at the same time as you. OMG I am like a kid in a candy store on that Univ website. I started out my planning so innocently using Marriott points offsite, but it is actually MUCH cheaper to stay ONSITE with a RPR Package (go figure). So far I have:
  • RPR (either Club or the King suite, same price)
  • Univ only Tix with Express Pass (no IoA this time, no time)
  • Cinematic Spectacular movie combo w/meal at Lombards (my DB will love that)
  • Meal/Mini Golf package (I am the mini golf sucker)
Remember the Express pass comes with the RPR booking so you don't have to buy them. Our RPR King CL room had a sleeper sofa...I'd go CL! Cinnomon rolls in the AM :thumbsup2

Thank you...so I would guess it doesn't really matter what I should request as far as courtyard..woodsview? Thoughts anyone?
Have you looked at Kook's thread, there's some great suggestions on there :lovestruc

Pas: Wine for dinner....been there! It sounds like your vacation is so needed. I hope it recharges you. BTW what a multiquote!!

Maybe I should make myself a new ticker!!

Jen
 Speaking of new tickers...I need one...:rolleyes1

Pas - hope your day is better today! We might have bacon and waffles tonight- that sounds delish!
 Things at work are better, car broke down but it was covered under warranty..now the dryer is broken...today was a Disney Math day!

Jeanette Yum......love waffles for dinner
They were super thrilled Sheila:)

Little rainy right now, sitting on the balcony waiting to go to Narcossee's with the husband. The boys went golfing this am and I hung out at the pool. Ran- ok monorailed- over to MK to buy some stuff with the 20 percent off before 1pm coupon and had lunch at the Bakery- Starbucks.

Think of Sarah when I pass by the Cafe.
:cloud9:

Hi Ladies....enjoying a glass of wine with DH and discussing things about our trip. Conclusions DH has come to:

A. I am a brat.
B. I am spoiled.
C. If I don't get my way, I will pout until I do.

I cannot argue anymore. It is all true. But the reality is this, I will not be getting my way with our Nov. trip. I will be holding onto the BC reservation until either an AP discount or GP room only offer comes out. I will then be switching to POR. Period. If it it not available, I will then be switching to ASM or POP 2 rooms. Double period.
 Jen, I completely understand!

I understand so well, because the Pas family is now booked at POR :thumbsup2

DH is so happy, he said POR looks relaxing, and the kids haven't whined one bit about no CL...:woohoo:

It's ok. I think we are all a little "bratty" when it comes to Disney.

DH knows approximately how much our trips costs, yet when I suggest ways to lower the cost...going back to mod/value :scared1: or dropping CL
I am met with futile resistance....so who's the diva, I ask him??? I think he's become as much of a brat as me now...:rotfl:
:rotfl:

Oooooo love the pic! Am I there yet? Just wake me when it's time :beach:
Sadly no body needs to wake me today, woke up at 3:30 am and let puppy out, now can't get back to sleep  I have 9 for dinner BBQ tonight. May need nap!!

Knee is ok. Still healing. I'm hobbling along, thanks for asking! Starting physio this Tuesday. Have to be ship shape for August!

:car: Full speed ahead!!!!! Those of you traveling on I-95 Southbound....BE WARNED!!! CRAZED DISNEY FAN COMING THROUGH!!!!

Heather
:hyper: I CAN"T WAIT :lovestruc

DS's interview went well I think, we're waiting for a security clearance to be done and references checked/ could be a 5 day process or so -- with Canada Day long weekend, we might hear something next week. They did ask if he had a pair of work boots at the end of the interview, so that's a good sign, but we'll have to go shopping for work boots for him if the offer comes through. It'll be an adjustment working night shift (10-6:30 am) mon to Fri/ at least he doesn't have to work weekends. It'll work out till he can save enough for a car too because by the time he drives home, I don't leave for work until 7:30, so he can use our car for now. I am hoping he gets the job, he's 21 and had many struggles, but it's time to start testing the world on his own a little. I'll still be here to support him but I need him to start testing life's waters and trying to find his way. It's so hard when they are not academically gifted and don't know what they want to do! I hope things work out for him because I worry so much. I am so thankful my youngest - my 17 yo- has firm plans to join the military after HS next year! He's a bit more of a go-getter and knows what he wants. I thought younger yrs where hard??? Nothing compared to this time of their life!
Praying it all works out so DH and I can finally start enjoying some of our hard earned money again, lol!!! :p
I hope it all works out for DH and DS Marie

Jeanette: wow....great minds think alike. I am going to switch. pOR or POP. Not sure which, POR has nice pool, slide, POP would be more room for us getting two. Are you going to be in AB section?:goodvibes

I know that in the world of our RC Queen 20 days is a life time to make more changes. I will tell you that when Janet and I stayed there in January we really liked it. In our talking stages of our 2014 ToT trip this is where we are thinking of staying again. What view did you book? Have you requested a building?

I booked Royal Rooms- 2 connecting Standard view, saving $1200 and adding a WDW day :lovestruc The pool slide was a huge factor!!! Brian said it looks amazing there, and he is excited! And proud of me! :lovestruc

Janet helped me make the call. I am mod-phobic...but I know where we will be, Brian was so funny he said the lobby is fancy like GF and I should feel right at home :rotfl:

Love the main pool area .... lots of shade for those hot July days! :beach: Nice quiet pools too. I like that there is a large CS and also a TS. We had a nice dinner there one night. And don't forget the boat to DTD! :boat: And last but not least Piano Bob!!!

You know you are selling me on POR too Linda .:goodvibes

I'm here to chime in with our lovely GG...

POR is the only mod that I can say with certainty we'd go back to. :thumbsup2 It's really gorgeous. And, I think, despite its size, the walk from the Royal Rooms in particular is a very nice one. Just down the path and over the bridge to the main building. Love the landscaping and the boat to DTD... and the walk to POFQ for a change of pace (and Scat Cats!)

The Royal Rooms are too flippin' cute (and NEW)! CBR just couldn't compete with that. (Mind you, I'm all cuckoo-for-Cocoa-Puffs over the Epcot area so who am I to talk!)

I'm spouseless for the next few days whilst the hubbo is out in Seattle. (I wanted to go! ) Love Seattle. :lovestruc Now, I'm off to find a tasty cocktail to sip.

Thanks pas so much for the helpful hints. RPR King CL sounds perfect then for DB to rough-it on a couch (but with CL :hyper:) for just a couple nights!! I must say I feel so OUTTA CONTROL over there at the Univ site. Scary, yet titillating!!! :lmao:

OMG you know how much I love POR. It is our home-away-from-home. This may sound silly but the beauty of the rotunda lobby wood floor mesmerizes me still after all these years. It is such a beautiful lobby in my opinion. And imo the wood makes it feel warmer and friendlier, too. The shady pool is great for pas-clan hanging out there for HOURS sunburn-free. It is such a pretty and relaxing resort.

I find it to be a very peaceful resort. My DD and I always do an afternoon pool hop to POR. I do think that the mods have a lot to offer. The main thing I miss is a balcony but other than that I'm good. I know the rooms are smaller than the deluxes but I'm usually just traveling with my adult DD so that has never been an issue.

I've stayed at POR, CBR and CSR enjoying all of them for different reasons but my favorite is POR. I've never stayed at POFQ .... the pool just doesn't do it for me and if I don't like the pool there's no way I'm going to stay there. Now if I had small children I think the pool at POFQ would be fun.

I'm so ready for a vacation that it's just crazy. Our weather here is HOT HOT HOT .... over a week of temps over 100!!! UGH!!!

Wookie: I'm sorry about that sticker shock! Ouch. :faint: I blame that "OLCI" on someone here. Who was it? I had to ask too. :rotfl:

Magic: I'm glad that pic of my "flippant" Miss M could make you smile. :goodvibes (I wish the rest of her wasn't cut off. She even had her hands on her hips when she was doing it. )

Linda: When you've got a spare moment, I'd LOVE to get your pool rankings... The Official Grumpy Grandma Guide to Dis-Pools™. :worship:

Koh: Staying put in that case sounds like the RIGHT thing to do! :thumbsup2

~~=======================~~

I'm so jealous right now. Hubster called me to find out what I could research for food options near the hotel he's in. I guess I'm better at these things? Anyhow, within a stone's throw, he's got 2 Pho joints, 3 Thai and 2 regular Vietnamese restaurants (not to mention a "homemade" sausage place).

We love Pho!! Sounds like he has lots of good ones to pick from! Thanks for your input on POR too. I think we have made our minds up. For the pool, boat to DD, it sounds good. Ooops, gotta go, DD8 woke up...hope she didn;t hear me talking Disney! Oh and we just ordered our X-mas party tickets for when we are there!! Yay!:cool1:

I'm a pho addict too! I can't go a few days without it, I call it crack soup, lol! Soooooo good :)

If it weren't for DS and DD being quite the pirate fans, we'd be staying at POR or POFQ (if we stuck with a moderate anyway). I love the wrought iron of the French Quarter and the smaller slide for the kiddos, but I love the looks of the POR rooms.

But alas, pirates it is! Definitely nice to be able to add 2 extra days since the original booking at CR (for the same price)! And since this trip will need to tide me over for a while, the extra park time (and downtime too) is an awesome thing.

I will just have to do a split stay by myself or with some friends or something later...(or a mother/son or mother/daughter trip). Planning a Colorado cabin for our 2014 trip for sure. Not sure when we'll get back to the World, but I think Universal will need to be a part of the next trip...

Yeah!! I finished the kids' autograph books (photo books on Shutterfly). Shared pics on the FB page! :-)

GM RCers Golly so much reading to catch up on :)

Jeanette Love those RR at POR. I have only stayed at POFQ as Bob never liked the idea of POR thinking it was too large, if he reads a resort is 1000+ rooms or multi bldgs he decides he doesn't like it :furious: sorta like with the Poly, too many bldg, too tropical grrrrr Personally I think POR is just beautiful:goodvibes

Hot and Humid here again today it was 70 at 6am when I took Bella out and my breathing issues kicked in, of course I had not taken my Spiriva yet so inside with the A/C today for me.

Good morning to everyone! I have been missing in action and this thread is going to take me a while to catch up! I hope you all aren't a "bad influence" on me...I will chant "I will not change resorts..I will not change resorts..." over and over again as I read! Leaving in six days!

DD9 and I are heading down to your neck of the woods tonight. :goodvibes

We are going to Canobie if the weather holds out today :hippie:
