Wait. Whattttt??? You can access the full site from the app? How? Where?? I always use iPad app because it's a pleasure to read the boards in this format- but it would be nice to have all the features of the full site! Please tell! :)
I just bookmark the URL for the Resorts Forum instead of using the app or you could obviously bookmark any DIS forum URL, and go to it that way. I find it much easier to post that way:

http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=12

This is what Paul just posted on how to do it from the app:

The way I found to do it is to click on the thread title at the top of the screen in the app, which opens what looks like the regular website but within the app. From there you can get to the multi quote buttons.

We are coming to WL on Sept. 20, but we are driving down to WDW on Sept. 19 and will be staying offsite that night with check in at WL on Sept. 20, and I have a few questions if anyone would like to answer.
1. Does anyone know what a good hotel near WDW for 1 night is? we just need somewhere clean to sleep (arriving late)
2. Can we check in early enough to make MK rope drop? I know the room will not be available, but we will need to get our KTTW card / magicband / secret decoder ring (maybe even a dna sample or two).
3. We have a woods view room, and I was wondering what room requests I should make if we want to face MK, and possible get a castle view? i.e what direction and what floors?

Oh yea, it is me, my DW and 2 DDS 7 & 2 at time of travel.
Thank you in advance for everyones responses and knowledge.

We had a view of the castle from our Woods view room. It was in the north wing and it was on the 6th floor. Our daughter also had a room on the same floor and had a perfect view of the castle and the Wishes fireworks. :)

1. Before my plans changed I was considering a night at a Doubletree Inn near DtD. http://doubletree3.hilton.com/en/hotels/florida/doubletree-suites-by-hilton-hotel-orlando-lake-buena-vista-MCOFHDT/index.html
We stayed there for a night 5-6 years ago and it served the purpose well. It was clean, affordable, and close to WDW. There are probably even cheaper options out on 192.

2. I would think you could conceivably check in that early but it would be tight getting around that time of day. Just a guess. :confused3

3. I am a WL first-timer too (also booked a WV room). Someone advised me to ask for a castle view or monorail view when I booked the room. I think what you are looking for is something in the north tower on an upper floor. Best of luck with getting the view! I know I can hardly wait to see how it works out for me and my family

I see Kook pointed you to what I mentioned in the App. It seems to only be once you are in a thread, you can scroll to the top and the title of the thread is a link to open the full site to the first page of that thread in the App.

From there the icon on the bottom right lets you open it in Safari (the regular web browser) if you so desire. I tend to use this more on the iPad where the screen is bigger, but it works on the phone too.

Long post, and not totally WL related, but it keeps us off page 2 :thumbsup2

Not really sure how to save threads that I like so I am posting so I can find it again!!!

One of these days I will figure this whole Disboards thing out!

Happy planning!

I took a look at the pic. I hope the snacks consisted of a bit more than chips, gummy something's, and something that looked to be popcorn or? Certainly not the spread that was at OFC 3 summers ago. :guilty:

Hi all! Excited to join the thread. I am planning waaaay in advance for a Christmas 2014 trip, which will be the first time for our son at Disney. He is almost 3 months old right now and will be 20 months at the time of the trip. We are definitely staying at WL because it is my favorite resort ever and I can't bear the thought of staying anywhere else! We will probably book a standard room and hope for an upgrade--last time we got upgraded to a beautiful courtyard view of the pool! We haven't been to WL since August 2011, so I was excited to see that the rooms have been refurbished, but I kind of prefer the original color scheme...I'll have to peruse the thread further to see if anything else has changed!

They didn't have much for snacks when we were there last, either.

The snacks are basically unchanged from 3 years ago. (I have snack photos on the first page.) The photos you looked at yesterday didn't include the cookies which are on the other side of the food area. The snacks are gummies, Gold Fish crackers, an oriental mix with wasabi peas, homemade chips and dip and fresh cookies. The fresh fruit, bananas and apples, are always left out next to the fridge. As far as I know, only GF SL and RPC offer a more substantial snack and tea/scones in the late afternoon at GF and AKL.

:welcome: and you can never plan a trip to WDW too soon:goodvibes. I always suggest that its best to book the view you really want and not ever count on being upgraded - no disappointment that way. The new rooms look even more amazing in person - I think you'll love them.

Happy planning:santa:

Thank you!!
You're welcome:)

If our DHs got together, they could negate each other's requests. Mine decided on vacation that 'we' really just had to have CL. (I think the fact that we were in a 900 SF suite had something to do with that and the fact that he often prefers being 'left behind' while DD and I run around.) He didn't get the chance to go with us to try Atrium Club and he loves CR so I kept calling WDTC for availability, but no dice. On vacation, WL/CL was available so he insisted I change it. I'm sure Brian will greatly appreciate having his "snack room" and all the wonderful CMs and great view of the lobby and Bay Lake. But, if you're booking two rooms, you could book his w/o CL:duck:

I told him he could stay elsewhere  He is actually content now. He does of course mention how hot it will be and the lines will be long. BUT we go early and spend the afternoon at the pool. Brian is completely content chillin' at the lodge :thumbsup2 The girls are SO jazzed. They all said marshmallow roasts take priority over rides:love: We will have a blast! The CMs at OFC blew away any other CL I have stayed...JMHO

I wouldn't get your hopes up for an upgrade. They probably did that because you went in August, which isn't a busy time for the resorts. Going around Christmas is Peak and you will most likely only get what you paid for, no more.... But, with Disney, you never know!

It's never too early to start planning :goodvibes. The WL is an awesome resort any time of year, but especially so during the holidays. Have fun planning.....Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year at Disney :santa:.

I agree. If you book what you want, there's no chance of disappointment once you get there ;).

BUT we go early and spend the afternoon at the pool.

This is exactly what we do. The more we go to Disney, the more time we spend at the resort. We usually hit a park for an hour or two in the morning, head back to the resort to swim/relax, then back to a park after dinner. We find that to be more relaxing than running every minute of every day through the parks :).

I totally agree about the OFC CMs.....our WL CL stay was quite some time ago (2004), but we found the CMs to be awesome and willing to help in any way they could. I see from recent reports that it is still that way :thumbsup2.

You will all have a wonderful time, despite the rain and heat. Your plan sounds great and the lounge will be a welcome refuge.

Does anyone have pictures of the renovated CL suites at WL?

Thanks :)
The rehab of the suites was slated to be completed yesterday, so no photos yet. I hope to be allowed to take some photos and post them here sometime after 8/1.

Sorry everyone, I know this has been asked and answered but I can not find it in the search function. I know you can call the resort 5 days ahead of time to make sure your request has been noted but who do you asked for when they answer the phone. I called the 407-824-3200 but it seemed like it was answered by someone who was not even at the resort. Thanks for any help that you can give me.
