Long time planner, first time visitor!

OOoh - loving the start to your PTR!!! Yup - I am convinced, you've found the right place to let out your inner Disney child. :thumbsup2

First of all - I didn't quote your first post - but your family is adorable! Your girls are just precious - and seeing them brings back so many wonderful memories for me. I have 2 girls (15 & 14) - but they will forever be little to me... I am at the stage in their lives where I feel like time is going too quickly and I am trying to squeeze as much into these last few years of having them home that I can. :lovestruc

I am such a nerd, right? 2 posts in 1 day!?!?!? Haha, that is excitement, y'all. And yes, I am from the great state of Texas and I do use the word y'all, often. But I will try to refrain. For those who enjoy very frequent updates, you can expect a lot, quickly. I am close to my trip and very super crazy excited, so #1- I am running low on time, and #2- it's all I think about and this is an ahhh-mazing outlet.

Okay, so here is what the day to day is looking like!!! I cant wait to get feedback on this!

Tue. Aug 20th Travel Day!

We will be finishing packing and trying to keep ourselves busy this morning so that time will hopefully not stand still! We can leave for the airport about 12:45pm, and the plane leaves about 2:40pm!! Non-stop to Orlando baby! Then we will catch the Magical Express to our lovely resort. I am hoping that everyone can have a grand time looking around while I secretly go to the room and set up the welcome gifts for the girls! We are just hanging around this evening, so pictures, swimming and excitement will ensue! If we have time and all feel up to it, perhaps DTD....that is really a possibility for any day. Dinner will be OOT and most likely at the hotel or DTD.

[Sidenote: I have been to Orlando on a work related trip once, while there we went to DTD every single day, and it was my first taste of the Magic!! I LOOOOVE it at DTD and will make sure to go multiple times this trip as well! Sadly, we did not visit any Disney parks or stay at a Disney Resort, but we did go to Universal IOA, more on that later....]

We will be wearing these fun guys today:

Wed. Aug 21st Magic Kingdom!

Because really where else should you start your FIRST EVER Disney World vacation, right?!?!?!?! No ADRs today, because we originally had planned to get here midday, before we booked the extra night, so we will most likely pay OOP for lunch, and do a QS credit for dinner somewhere, any suggestions in MK???? Please! We will take our time exploring and learning our way around, no need to rush, we're coming back here 2 more times! Yay!

This was to be the day we wore our Plane shirts, but now we will be wearing these lovely shirts I picked up at Old Navy! (The girls is hard to see, but its a patriotic looking Minnie Mouse! Adorbs!)

It looks like this is the only day we over lap parks... We never do hoppers either - and we like it that way. Some people swear by them, but I have never justified the cost - as long as you do your research (which it looks like you have) - you will be fine. :lovestruc

[Thur. Aug 22nd- Hollywood Studios!

From here on out we are getting up EARLY and catching the bus to be at the parks BEFORE they open!! None of our days planned have EMHs in the am on purpose- I want to avoid those parks and not have to get up even earlier. But I am a stickler for being on time, and my family knows it. So I can confidently say we will be watching rope drop and dashing to Toy Story Mania! We have lunch ADRs for 50s PRIME TIME CAFÉ today! I am so excited for this! I picked it because of the big portions, and fun environment, and I cannot wait! We will hang out and try to do all we can until we are ready to leave this day, if we can hang in there maybe see the fireworks show, or possibly end up at DTD, or go back and swim.

We will be sporting these fine works of art! (My fave!)

I am just lovin' all of these shirts!!! Too cute!!! I would love to make something like this - gonna have to follow your link to see if it's even something I can do? :thumbsup2 I don't usually do well with glitter... :rolleyes1

[Fri. Aug 23rd Animal Kingdom!

Again, there for rope drop and no plan really, except working around seeing The Lion King show and Nemo. I am sure we can fit in our must dos here, because there are only a few. Also, no ADRs in the park, so suggestions on a good QS lunch would be helpful! Since the park closes early at 5, we have booked a fun treat and will be heading to the Ft Wilderness campgrounds to see the HOOP DE DOO MUSICAL REVUE! I know our family will love this!! And all you can eat plus free wine or sangria and beer = happy adults as well!!

Our outfits for the day: (adults dont have the bow, just the ribbon across)

We love to eat at Flame Tree BBQ in AK... Huge portions - good food - watch out for the birds though...

Oh and you cannot forget the Jalepeno cream cheese pretzel... It's at a little cart right before you walk over the bridge to Dinoland from Tree of Life... Nummay!!!

[Sat. Aug. 24th- Magic Kingdom again!!!

Yay! This is THE day, the PRINCESS day, to be exact!!!!!! princess: We will have some major fun today, we have an afternoon appt at the BBB booked for Olivia! She already knows because I am too excited. We have watched youtube videos, looked at pictures and everything! We are going to do the whole hair/nails/makeup package and add on the dress. No big package, because that comes with photos and we will already get them for free with the PHOTOPASS+ that I am pre-ordering! We are going all out this trip because it is our first, and I KNOW Olivia will never forget this day. Late that evening we have dinner in the Castle with Cinderella, again, a moment she will never forget. Lunch will be QS, and I am hoping maybe Be Our Guest, one or more days we will dine QS there because I couldn't get a dinner ADR, but that's okay because their menu looks a little fancy, and I am more simple kinda foods anyhow!

Olivia will be sporting a Minnie shirt she owns for the first part of her day until she gets her gown. Maddie will be wearing this minus the sleeves that I cut off because it will be hot y'all!!

The rest of us will be wearing various Disney shirts we already own.

This is going to be an awesome day!!!! What fun memories you are going to make! :lovestruc

[Sun. Aug. 25th- EPCOT

Again, rope drop, spend the morning in Future World, and then QS for lunch, I was originally thinking I would HAVE TO go to a World Showcase country for a meal, because why would I ever pass up awesome worldly cuisines, then I saw the Sunshine Seasons QS&.that is looking goooooood. What do y'all think? So we will just browse and decide I think. Possibly go back to the resort for naps today because I REAAAAAALLY want to see the World Showcase at night, and stay late for the fireworks show! Our dinner ADRs are at the BIERGARTEN! I am so excited, the hubby is from German decent and we celebrate German heritage A LOT in the Texas hill country, so this will be fun and the kids will love dancing to the Ooompa music. Plus, who doesnt love a buffet!?!?

Shirts for the day:

I don't have any opinions on Sunshine Seasons, other than, every time we go off to Soarin' - their food smells delicious! LOL We haven't ever eaten there though.

We have also never eaten at Biergarten, but we do have our first ADR there this time -a nd we are all looking forward to it.

[
Mon. Aug. 26th- Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure!

I have been to IOA before on a work trip, as I mentioned earlier, but I am obsessed with Harry Potter; so I will be going again. Plus Olivia loves HP too, so she has to experience this. We were originally only going to do IOA to save $$ and our feet until we saw the newly finished Simpsons World. We are now doing both. Haha, mine is a family that religiously watches the Simpsons on Sunday nights and we simply cannot miss this chance to be in Springfield and have a drink at Moes! Plus there are fun things we liked at both anyway. I plan on buying the tickets through DESTINATIONS IN FLORIDA, because they sale the one day tickets that include shuttle transport from Disney to Universal and back. No meal credits will be used today, we will dine at those parks and pay OOP to eat at THE THREE BROOMSTICKS for sure, and possibly somewhere on the City Walk that night. (Margaritaville!?!? Because I am SURE I will NEED one by then!!) Also important to mention that this is a VERY special day, because it is MY BIRTHDAY!!! Yay! So I will be living it up buying myself many presents I am sure. I plan to sport my birthday button the whole week at Disney though, because why not? I am going to live every minute up celebrating Disney style!

Our attire:

YAY!!! Not only is it your first trip - but you will spend your birthday in FL!!! How perfect is that???

[Tues. Aug. 27th- Magic Kingdom, again, again!

Because where else would I want to end my last day of my first ever trip to Disney!! {Sigh} Our last day at the parks, how sad. But we wont let it get us down because this is our Pirate day!!! We have super early ADRs at CHEF MICKEY to say goodbye to the beloved characters. Lots of photos, and going back to our faves. I have mid-morning appts for Olivia and my sis-in-law (who is more like a teenager or tween) at the PIRATES LEAGUE. After the makeovers we can relax, and possibly go back to the resort for a rest. Again, QS suggestions for today would be appreciated. We will be at the park late to see the fireworks and go to our ADR for the TOMORROWLAND TERRACE FIREWORKS DESSERT PARTY. What a perfect way to end our time in Disney, right? I want my last Disney moments to be in MK looking up at the beautiful fireworks and wishing upon a star....all while pigging out and going into a sugar coma to dull the pain of leaving!

The awesome shirts:

Awww... What a perfect end to your trip!

I am the same way... We always go to MK first and we always make it our last park - so we are always sure to say "hello" and "goodbye"... Sniff, sniff.

[Wed. Aug. 28th- Travel day L

Back to Texas, y'all...and into Disney depression. I will never again have a first trip to Disney World. {Tear} We will need to leave the resort about 11am to catch the Magical Express back to MCO for our flight back home to Texas. A sad, sad day indeed. But heres hoping for an awesome bounce back offer this day to perk me up. I am planning on taking 'down payment' cash, just in case. Do people do that?!
P.S. My Disney Pinterest board has the links for how to make all the shirts I did, and you can find it here!!

Well - the first thing you need to do is get yourself a little notebook or something, so you can take notes during your trip - in preperation for your TR that you'll be writing when you get home... that will help out a lot.

Secondly - you'll have to book your next trip before your finish writing above said TR... That helps even more.

Welcome to the Disney addiction... ::yes::

I am just lovin' all of these shirts!!! Too cute!!! I would love to make something like this - gonna have to follow your link to see if it's even something I can do? :thumbsup2 I don't usually do well with glitter... :rolleyes1

Thanks for all the kind words and advice! BTW- non of these shirts have glitter!! I do not do well working with glitter, even though I love to be sparkly!! Most of them are just black t-shirt paint from the craft store. It works just like acrylic paint. I cut stencils out of wax paper, then you can iron the wax paper onto shirts and it holds! Then you use a sponge brush to dab on the paint. Let dry slightly and peel away the wax stencil!! They look like screen print tshirts in person! I love them, hardest part is cutting small details, like on the plane shirts for instance. The Toy Story ones, however, were super easy because they were just straight silhouettes! I just googled images of characters I wanted and traced the outline and cut out! Anyone would do it! My other forms of shirts are iron on's-super easy, and spraying bleach over a stencil!

I will do this! I need to find a cute Disney notebook now! :)

And thanks for the welcome!

I have awful news. Just awful. I am torn up about it and need your support.

The Tomorrowland Terrace Fireworks Dessert Party IS SOLD OUT! {SOB}

I actually had my spot all set to go a couple days ago, like literally 2, and I had to hold off to today to do them for financial reasons. Well, they were gone! I tried ALL 3 DAYS that we will be in MK...all gone. :confused3

I should have known better. I know, I know, I know. Makes me sick. My only hope is at the 45 day mark that someone will have to cancel their trip and their ADR.....so get out your prayer mats people and send up good thoughts to Ole' Walt that I end up with a miracle and get my wish.

I really wanted to end my trip like this, and it was literally the only detail that could have gone wrong and that wasn't already taken care of. So naturally.... but I am trying to keep my spirits high. I will continue to check the web EVERYDAY for a spot and be sure to mark 45 days away in my phone. Here's hoping.

In the meantime, is there any other super special, amazingly awesome, spot for fireworks viewing in MK? Let me have it y'all!

Update coming SOON, possibly tonight. I am working on it!

Oh no....I assumed you already had the dessert party :( Yeah, they sell out FAST. I honestly am surprised there was any openings a couple days ago.

Well, there are lots of other options....you guys could come over to the Poly and watch Wishes from the beach. They pipe the music in so you still hear the narrative.

And like you said, there's always hope that someone will cancel. I've even heard that it is possible to walk up that night and grab a no-show spot. You never know!

My favorite thing is doing anything Disney-related to gear up for the trip, so I thought I would share some things we have done!! I hope y’all like it!

Disney DVD Viewing Party!

Oh yes, we are those people! The day our DVD and customized maps came in the mail I was already texting the MIL to find out what night would work for a viewing party. I couldn’t resist though, and Olivia and I watched it that day! Then the hubby and I watched it that night….

Hahaha. I’m not even going to tell you how many times we have watched the “Ultimate Disney” series on Netflix….

This is a fun series to watch if you haven’t already! Seen it a MILLION times!

Anywho, on with the party. I had a little fun decorating! And shopping! I found these snazzy Mickey Mouse and Friends lanyards on EBay so I bought some for the whole group! Also, some pins for Olivia! I had fun wrapping the gifts for everyone! And the décor, mostly found on Pinterest, of course!

We ate lasagna with Mickey’s on top!

Needless to say the event got everyone pumped. We opened gifts, ate yummy food (I put the salad on one ear, and bread on another BTW…) and then viewed the Disney Planning DVD!

THE Countdown!

Of course, what Disney home wouldn’t have a proper Disney countdown!?!?

I really love those countdown chains, so adorable, however, at this point we were like 150 days out. No way Jose am I making 150 of those thingys! So that was out! I ended up deciding to make this-

The day we started counting down, and today! Yay!

A canvas and chalkboard paint is all ya need! ;)

Other than these ideas we have just been doing the usual. Looking at tons of pics online, looking at youtube videos of character meets, rides, and such. Watching everything Disney we can get our hands on! Then, myself, I have been discussing Disney with anyone who will listen. Reading blog after blog after blog and TR after TR after TR!! I love it! I feel like an expert even though I have never been!!

[Side note: I have been to Disneyland one time!! I was very young, probably 4 or 5. My mom took me. I remember bits and pieces clearly, such as riding the teacups and the Haunted Mansion!]

If y’all have more ideas for me, or questions, let me know! Ya know I love to hear it!!!:yay::yay::yay::yay::yay:

You know just how to make me feel better! But viewing from the Poly is a nice option, and you don't have to fight the crowds!! Liking that!:cool1:

I followed you over from my PTR and yours looks great! Your DD's are so adorable, I know they will have a great time.
I LOVE your shirts! I was just looking at the patriotic mickey head tee on Old Navy.com this afternoon and thinking I need that!

Your plans look awesome, I can tell you have been doing your research! I know you are bummed about the dessert party, but your trip will be so amazing and magical you won't even miss it! I second the watching the fireworks from the poly suggestion. We did that and that was why we wanted to stay there so bad. Plus you can get a dole whip to enjoy while you watch. That will be very magical. And you never know, the party could open up.

We don't do very many QS, but Flame Tree BBQ is our favorite out of all the parks. As far as QS in Epcot we will to do WS. Sunshine seasons looks good, but I can't pass up WS. We like Mexico, UK, and Germany the best.

And, just a side note, is that an STL cards cap I see your DH wearing? If so good choice! ;)

I love the viewing party! That is awesome!

And your countdown calendar is magnificant! I really love it!

D~

Soul mates! Yay! :cloud9:

Where is your PTR? You should do one!

Well, I am thinking about doing one but I am ridiculously bad at computers....I just added texting to my phone like 6 months ago (old phone not smart phone....just not there yet :rotfl2:) I just feel like I will have a hard time with the pictures and all :confused3. Plus we are still so far out, I'm not sure I can keep peoples attention that long hahahahaha :)

I love the viewing party! We watch stuff so often that my 7 year old has asked me to stop because "mommy, it makes me sad to watch because I want to go right now! (said with puppy dog eyes)" hahaha another disney freak in the making

Yes it's a cards hat! Haha- I used to line in STL! So we have a soft spot, however he pro a Lu owns like every team hat available, he's just a baseball fan in general, but that hat gets worn quite often!

FYI- the Mickey old navy shirt is so soft and awesome, love it!

Thanks for the suggestions!

[Hi! Your girls are so adorable. We took our kids on their first trip when they were 4 and 1 and we had such a great time. My DS (1) enjoyed the characters and all the rides (he was too young to be scared).

Planning for a "long" time is a great way to make the trip last longer. All the planning and prep is part of the fun.

Love all your shirts. The bleach ones are so cool. I love that everyone will be coordinating.

What time does your flight land?? How many hours behind are you? 2:40 in TX is what...4:40 in FL? Then getting off the plane, 45 min ride to WDW (possible wait for the bus to get full first). Are you taking advantage of the Magical Express luggage service? That is so awesome! It is such a pleasure to just get off the plane and make your way down to the MagicalExpress without bags in tow.
Do you live close to the airport? I'm already nervous that you will not have enough time. LOL. Of course I always feel the need to get to the airport 2 hours before my flight departure time (as suggested by the TSA). Yes, I am a little paranoid. I think trying to get to DTD on your arrival night might be too much. After you have been at the parks you might decide you don't need to go to DTD.

Columbia Harbor House is very good in Liberty Square/Fantasyland area. Pecos Bills is yummy in Frontierland. And Cosmic Rays is good in Tomorrowland. Or, if you are ready for a little break at that point, you can always eat at one of the monorail resorts QS. The Contempo Cafe at the Contemporary is neat with the monorail gliding by overhead, and the kids might get a glimpse of Mickey & Pals from Chef Mickeys...it is all open in there. My favorite...the Poly...has Captain Cooks for yummy tropical options. And if you want the princess feeling...the Grand Floridian has Gaspirilla Grill. Never been there, but the menu looks yummy. It is a welcome break from the parks if the girls are getting restless.
Great choices. We ate at the QS at Grand Floridian and enjoyed it. We also enjoy Pinochiohaus in Fantasyland.

Oh my gosh you will LOVE this! I remember that show from way back in the day. And the cornbread.....YUM! Can I make a suggestion here too...take the bus from AoA to MK, then a boat over to Ft Wilderness. If you take a bus, it lets you off at the opposite end of the campground and you have to take another internal bus to Pioneer Hall. The boat drops you off right near the Hall. And it is a gorgeous ride over. You get to see the Contemporary from a great angle and sneak a peak at the gorgeous Wilderness Lodge.
That sounds like a great night. Hoop Dee Do is so much fun.
Suzi - you are on top of it, great tip about the boat ride.

Sunshine Seasons is awesome! And free drink refills ::yes:: They have a great breakfast too...I try to eat there at least once each trip because I just love love love their breakfast panini. I don't even think it's on the menu, but it is soooo good.
I agree. We always eat at Sunshine Seasons - lots of choices. Plus, we are usually at Soarin' around lunch time so it fits our schedule. I find some of the QS choices in world showcase taste a little like mall food court

I am so excited for you! That is why I am happy to have a newbie along with me this trip again....I just love seeing WDW through their eyes. There is nothing quite like that first view of the castle. Ahhhhhhh :cloud9:
Suzi has some great advice!

So bummed for you. Maybe someone will cancel but I like Suzi's suggestion for the Poly beach. We have never done that but when I was with my brother we caught the fireworks from the Ferry to the TTC, when we got to the dock they were playing the "music" for the fireworks. It was nice to be away from the crowds (this worked for us too because my nephew doesn't like the noise of the actual fireworks). So I am sure the beach would be a wonderful place to watch the fireworks.

Your DVD Viewing party looks like so much fun. Love the plates and the custom lasagna. How nice that everyone got little gifts too. So many cute details. I think you have everything all figured out for your trip. For my DDs first trip to BBB I made an invitation from the princesses that was delivered by "Tinker Bell" the day of her appt. Of course I had to do this for her other visits to BBB. She has told some of those non-planning moms who couldn't get into BBB "you have to get an invitation to go to BBB". The moms gave me a strange look and I just shrugged my shoulders. :confused3 I also did pirate map looking "invites" when the kids did Pirates League.

I'm headed over to check out your Pinterest page now (I'll be back in about 2 days...) Then I will head over to Netflix to see the Ultimate Disney shows.

Hehe, we live about 45 min from the airport but well already be in SA at families house to leave our car and they will drop us off, they live about 5 min away! I will get there early tho!!

I made some "Mickey mail" for each day and have small gifts for the girls!! I can't wait to do a post in that!

Thanks for all the advice! I am getting so pumped!!!
