Our little thread of BIG Resort changes*OLD THREAD link on last pg. to new thread!

You should totally call ... you know, for informational purposes. :rolleyes1

$20 more for Boardwalk ... including walking to two parks? Heck, you've CONVINCED ME! :thumbsup2 (Not that I needed any convincing. :rotfl: ) That peanut butter ganache tart thing from Boardwalk Bakery is calling your name already... (or was it the Sea Salt Caramel Square?)

Hehehe. I did just send an email to my TA to have him check on things for me...if it's more than $100 difference, then I will say no...I'd much rather have an extra day at Disney. :-) But otherwise...it's a possibility...?? Maybe? It would mean 1 less day though...(basically our originally planned trip length) andI'd have to change some ADRs...

Okay I will explain that...there are five of us, so $100 more a night for Boardwalk. $600 total. Worth it??? ::yes::

I missed the "per person" bit... in true RCing style, eh? Do you save anything with BWI over BC?

Koh: You can always have the entire scenario planned out including costs! Might be easier to present your case if it comes back as something "doable."

We did see Monsters University over the weekend and LOVED it!! :cheer2:
I really want to see that.

Oh, news from me... my Sam joined the marching band :yay: We are thrilled!! A great connection going over to the high school! The music program is highly regarded, and I know she will make some great friends. :)

This week... mini band camp ... hot and humid....yikes! She's been holding up fairly well (must be all her YMCA training :goodvibes) ::yes::

WOO HOO!! Marching band was so much fun!! It's the one thing, that if I could go back in time to do high school again, that would make me want to. It's been almost 20 years since I marched and when I'm walking with someone, I still end up making sure we're walking on the same feet. It's odd how that kind of stuff never leaves you.

Thank you all so much,:grouphug: thankfully she is feeling better now. I hate fevers.

I hate them as well. I'm glad she's feeling better.

Wilderness Lodge....I saw it, I had to have it. :rotfl2: I arrive on July 5th....
I have woods view. Could have done Courtyard view for $50 more total...Did not know which. What do you all think? Should I have gone for that instead? Woods view sounded nice and I didn't even request anything....should I? I have to do the work thing again..what's up with that??!! So open to room request suggestions...or courtyard view......?? Have a wonderful day everyone...I will catch up when I get home tonight!! I really love this place.:)

We had a woods view when we stayed there. I would request something near the otter pond. We couldn't see the castle, but we could see the fireworks through the trees.

Hey all- we are having a "grand" time. Yesterday am went to AK- did Everest (2x), Kali (2x) , dinosaur and primeval whirl ...started at 9 and back in the room by 12:30!!! Met up with our band director and his wife at MK around 8 and had a blast until 11:30- big thunder (2x) splash, castle show, wishes and haunted mansion.

Off to the studios today

Janet- congrats to Sam for band!!! She'll love it!

Sounds like a blast!!

Woohoo! BWI sounds lovely - it's the resort in front running for my next trip :)
It seems like Jan 2015 will take forever to come! I could do with a review before then, Jen ;)

Quick update on DH (it's his bday today and we're taking him to Red Robin (A CDN burger joint) for dinner :) -- yeah! No cooking!!! -- tomorrow is date night at the VIP theatre to see The Heat)

 Happy birthday to your DH!! That is another movie I really want to see. It looks really funny.

Dr apt was a mixed bag still. He is finally given the go ahead to begin more aggressive Physio to see if he can get movement in the top joint of his pinky. If after 2 months/ end summer it's still not moving or contributing to function of his other three working fingers, he'll have to make a choice if its really worth keeping if it is hindering function of the other three. He's grown quite attached to his little/ smaller hand, so that would be a big dissapointment to lose baby finger too. The surgeon said though in his opinion if the baby finger has no movement still, it's just going to suck from his three good fingers, and he'll have better function with three fingers than 3 and a tag along finger that's not offering any function to his overall hand use.
So it's a waiting game and Physio all summer to see what kind of movement / if any he can obtain in his baby finger. Next Visit is Aug 28th. We should have a little better idea by then what he's looking at for going forward to meet his goal of going back as a Sheriff/ if he can. That's the hope though.

DH and I are in need of a holiday!!!

I'm glad it wasn't all bad news. Hopefully the therapy this Summer will help and he'll be able to achieve his goal.

DS 21 FINALLY has his interview for his first job at Home Depot ( CDN hardware store) today! He's applied for a night shift position M-F 10pm-6:30am
On the freight team -- offloading/ stocking etc. I am so hoping he gets it because he needs to get his life started somehow - he needs it for experience- he needs it as a stepping stone for whatever he's going to do next ( which at the moment is kind of unknown , but leaning towards the possibility of becoming an electrician) -- he needs it for his sanity and self esteem! He just needs something to feel good about and to work and have his own savings and sense of accomplishment -- oh how I hope he's successful and gets offered the position! I have a feeling if he fails at this, his self esteem might be crushed and he may just go into a slump :( please pixie dust for my boy!!!!

Hope all is well with all my loving RCer family

Sending good thoughts, prayers, and pixie dust for your DS.

Only news I've got to share...

Hubbo was at home yesterday. (He needed to work from home because everyone at his work was bugging him and he has to work on his talk for a conference he's attending this weekend. Mind you, working with Miss M and myself hanging around is infinitely MORE difficult than colleagues bugging you all day.) I heard him go upstairs into the office and let loose with a phrase I can't share here. :rolleyes1 He comes running back downstairs and tells me to check my email. The email in question was a letter from the director of the lab. Very short and sweet but the hubster was given a promotion, effective immediately. :faint: He's never been a "toot his own horn" type, so this sort of thing means a lot to him beyond the obvious as it requires multiple written recommendations from respected members of his field on top of review-by-committee before it can go ahead -- and it was all done without him knowing. So proud of that nerd. :lovestruc

Congrats to your DH!! It's great when a company recognizes your hard work. I can't remember if you've said, and I hope you don't mind me asking, but what kind of nerd is he? Like the computer type, or science type? I love the nerdy type. I think one of the hottest men on the planet is Michio Kaku. I could sit and listen to that man talk about theoretical physics all day.

You're getting very CLOSE to OLCI! :woohoo:

I don't mind... you even mentioned the particular variety of nerd in your very post. :thumbsup2 He's a theorist. It's funny that you mention Kaku! My hubster's "brush with fame" came with the U.K.'s physics poster child, Brian Cox (kinda like their version of Michio Kaku). He hosts quite a bit of BBC science stuff, was in an episode of Doctor Who and various other geekster stuff. Basically, they love to roll him out when it's anything remotely physics/science related. Anywho, he and my hubs were the examiners together for a PhD student's thesis defense. I think I was more excited about it than he was. He refused to ask Brian Cox for an autograph for me. :rotfl:

Hellooooooooooooo chicas!

Marie: Happy Birthday to your hubs! Hoping the more-intense physio does the trick. Positive thoughts, as always! Savor that no-cook dinner tonight -- those are THE best.

Janet: Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay for Sam! She rocks. Glad she's doing it. She's going to have a blast... and make tons of great memories in the process.

DetTigs: :hyper: Lovin' your update. Enjoy the rest of your trip!

Jen: Sooooo, if you go with BWI you can scope it out for us! For standard views, I've got the following advice for a good view... "Courtyard, Facing Epcot" -- the pics I've seen in Kooks' thread show it looking out over the France Pavilion. You can see Illuminations if you can nab one of these rooms.

Sheila: Speaking of BWI, how'd you like it there?

Willow: Hahaha, NICE change!

Koh: Shall we break out the popcorn again? Any more thoughts on CR?

Miss bob and I both fell in love with BWI :goodvibes In all honesty I keep thinking of changing my Poly Reservation to BWI that is how much we love it there.

Congrates on DH Promotion!

Miss: This is great news!! :jumping1:Congrats to your DH!! I love it when they get recognized for their work! Hugs and congrats! :dance3::yay::banana:

jenny from what I know of BWI Std rooms face the front of BWI or the other side from the courtyard, facing Epcot. Courtyard is WV.

and......there are 3-4 Std rooms on upper floors that do not have. Balcony, so you might want to put balcony for a request. My friend requested 5th floor, facing Epcot and she got a room with no balcony :scared1:

chimo: Thinking of you and hubs and DS. Take good care.

sjs314: Duh, I see that now you are not at BWI!!!! I am tooooo overwhelmed with so many fine RCers plans (forget your real names, I'll never remember so I stick with monikers) and so little time lately. Thinking of you and Bob, though, and your POLY trip! There I got it right and all is right again with the world now that I know you aren't changing. :rotfl:

DetTigGal: Enjoy the Magic! :woohoo:

jennyjinx: Congrats to DH! "GOOD" rocks! :cool1:

Miss, wookie, and Koh1977: Hey! :3dglasses My SIL/BIL were part founders of Giordano's. Tasty stuff. They got out years ago. Needless to say, they are the "rich ones" of the family. :rotfl2: My other SIL still works at HQ. :thumbsup2 She used to send us free coupons til that nasty bankruptcy thing. It was real estate caused, not tasty pizza caused.

Calling all RCers: For those that frequent the OTHER cross-town resort, would you be so kind as to give me Universal Resort help????? :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: Do any of you like RPR? If so, why? And if you like another Resort better, which one? Any help at all is much appreciated. I am thinking of scrapping my Poly CL for July and taking DB to Universal. Thanks. :goodvibes

O.M.G!. I am soooooo behind.....:faint:

Been super busy with work, the kids, etc....BUT, I am officially on vacation now until July 8th! :dance3:

It's a staycation and we are doing stuff in our great state of NH (and also Maine)!

I am still torn about what to book for August when the time comes. It's between CR CL and Poly CL, but you know, with the construction stuff....CR is winning. :cutie:

I am 99% sure that the military discount will be renewed and that should be announced shortly after the new rates come out according to my sources. :goodvibes

Then I may change my Sept. trip to POFQ instead of POP. :confused3
My poor little Sept trip....it's pretty much 6 days of unplanned chaos :rotfl: literally, BFF and I made 1 ADR and just going to go with the flow. We are both sooo focused on next August....yeah, they will return next year as well!!!

Jen we have absolutely no complaints about the values. We had all good experiences. We strongly disliked CBR though. :headache:

Miss congrats on hubby's promotion!!! That's great!!!

Marie Thinking of you! Hoping things are getting better!!

I hope all of you are well! I am going to POP open a Yeungling! :drinking1

MAGIC  No changes yet but I am worried they are going to start the DVC construction before My stay which might change everything, who knows? :confused3

This is so hard! It basically is about $20 more per person per day to stay at the Boardwalk then ASM. I just really feel like I need the atmosphere there again! I loved the feeling of the boats, Epcot right there, the lights at night, the water. I feel it is worth the money! And DH can get his different resort right??;)

He wants to do a waterpark visit too, so I don't feel so bad about missing out on Stormalong Bay. Also, the Boardwalk Bakery is right there too. Why do I feel like I am totally talking myself into this!!:upsidedow

You know..funny thing about SAB..I totally changed to WL like in a moment! I just had this gut feeling that SAB might not be what I want to do in July being so spread out..ya know? I'm totally happy..(hubby doesn't even know yet...he's been working so, so much!) Go for it!! You only live once..and as my mom has always said " a year from now you'll never know the difference!".... :)

DetTigGal.....Glad you are having fun!!!:)

Missoutandabout...Woo hoo for hubby!! Awesome!

Chimo2u....Will continue to pray for you both!

Need to catch up some more!

So anyone here in the know about Woods View room requests? What should I do? Upgrade to courtyard view?? So many decisions, so little time!

Miss -- I would LOVE to try a split with CR or Poly...but I don't want DH to disown me... Hmmm...also not sure if either still would have discounted rooms available...?

I was quite shocked that WL had rooms with the discount still available in all categories! Isn't that amazing??:cool1: You never know...unless you call.....:rotfl:

I gotcha! Hey, which Universal Resort do you like? And why?

I am dying to stay at Portofino Bay a water view room. Fantastic View and from what I know you can take a boat to the theme Park :goodvibes

Jen we have absolutely no complaints about the values. We had all good experiences. We strongly disliked CBR though. :headache:

Hmmm...should I be worried?? I know you weren't in the pirate rooms and I'm thinking they're in a bit better shape...so what did you really not like about it?

How was the pool? Food court? Mousekeeping?

My TA is checking for me!! :-) so we will see...DS said he wanted to stay in the hotel with Chef Mickey's and a pirate room...and it'd be 2 more resorts I could knock off the list! ;-)

Hmmm...he said we'd have to shorten the original package and book the last half as a new package (with rack rate pricing??). Would that be true...? Or would I be able to get the discounted rate if there's still something available? (The deadline to book those discounted dates was about a week ago)

It just was not for us. Too big and spread out, especially with small kids. The multiple bus stops internally really took their toll (and we don't mind the buses). We did not like the food court at all, and we did have some mousekeeping (or maintenance?) issues.....whoever is supposed to take care of mold did NOT do their job!

Can't comment on the pool as we were there in Feb and it was too cold to use it but it looked nice. Again, the resort was just not for us and we would choose a value over CBR any day, but a lot of people love it!

Sorry, just being honest. :duck:

No need to be sorry!! :-). I'm just hoping we don't hate it!! :-)

Ummm...so if the original package was booked through a TA, could I call to ask questions and price out something?? I am questioning my TA's math...or rather, I don't know that he actually called and talked to anyone, just priced it out on the website...

$1000 more? I think not...but I'm not sure that's really what it would be...
