*2013* epcot food & wine festival 9/27-11/11

I read somewhere (AllEars maybe) that it's a good idea to get a F&W gift card to pay at the booths instead of fishing for cash, etc. It didn't say where you can get these or if they are a special kind of gift card. I assume you can get them at the Welcome Center or perhaps I can use regular WDW gift cards...anyone know? We aren't doing DDP this time so we'll be paying out-of-pocket. And, if it is a special card, what if I don't use all of the money on it?

For the past 5 years? F&W logo gift cards, that can be worn as bracelets can be obtained in Epcot ... during the festival. They are available just about at every food kiosk, merchandise display and definitely at the Festival Welcome Center. They work just like any other Disney card. They are handy because you can wear them on your wrist and don't need to dig in your pocket for the card or cash.

Oh I saw those bracelets during the garden festival! They looked great. What a wonderful idea :-) can't wait for the magicband to come online so we can charge that.

Does anyone have a guess-timate of when they will list the chefs/ topics for Kitchen Memories? I want to give this experience to my husband for his birthday and will have two opportunities during our stay. I just wondered how soon I might expect to know my options.

Quite a bit of information about special events is released at the Preview Dinner on July 27 or by the Monday afterwards. Of course it could be different this year and information could be released at anytime.

I wish you could pre-order the F&W specific gift card online. It would make a fantastic B-Day present for my DBF. (His birthday is in Aug, as is mine)

You can use regular WDW gift cards at the food booths. The F&WF are different in that they can be worn as a bracelet and have the F&WF logo on them, otherwise they are the same as any Disney gift card. Any cash value left on the card can be used at any Disney location that accepts Disney gift cards. :thumbsup2

though I have heard some stories of the machines (card readers) going down at times - not often, but it happens. So having some back-up cash is usually a good idea ...

... but I agree the wrist-strap cards are great and also make a "free" souvenir

Thanks, WeeVee. That helps me be less of a stalker on the website. I'll just (im)patiently wait until the end of July. Thanks again.

I thought I read somewhere, maybe here, that you can purchase the wristlet GC with a regular Disney GC? Is this correct? We have a bunch of GCs saved up, but I would really love one of the wristlet ones!

What events are not to be missed? I was thinking 3d Dessert party or Food and Wine Paring or Tequila Tasting or Party of the Sense.

I think it all depends your tastes, events that one person finds to be incredibly satisfying, others have hated, so it's each to his own.

What time does the actual Food and Wine Festival begin? :confused3 We will be there on opening day, but I'm not sure when the kiosks/events/tasting begins. Regular Future World opening time? Regular World Showcase opening time? A special time?
Thanks in advance!

Regular time. I seem to remember WS staying open a little longer, but my memory towards the end of the day is a little fuzzy due to all the beer and wine.......

Kiosks are open at 11am and close for most of the days at 9pm. Regular World Showcase times is a good estimate of times, since that is where the food booths are located.

For event times you will need to get the pamphlet, which changes weekly, at the entrance to Epcot, the Festival Welcome Center and many other locations throughout Epcot.

The first post, on the first page of this thread is a good place to check on times when they become available.
