Why did they make AOA a Value resort???

I have thought of this many times. Why did they make AOA a value resort. I know the rooms offered are suites and that is a big plus but let's face facts, charging $400/night is not a value price. I know the mermaid rooms are a lot less but why didn't they just put a slide at the pool and call it a moderate? Does anyone else find it strange that it's called a value? Other then the slide at the pool and no towels at the pool, what makes it a value???

Double beds in LM, and 2 out of the 3 beds in the suites. (Most mod rooms are queens now). Theming is more in line with other values too? I do agree the price is not a value though

Because when it comes to suites at Disney, $400 is a value.

The only thing I can figure is because they wanted to keep the price lower. A suite at a moderate or deluxe, especially deluxe, would be much more than $400/night.

It depends on your situation. If you have a family of four or smaller, then AOA suites probably are not your best "value" for staying onsite, considering all the other options. However, as a family of six, we recently stayed in an AOA suite at about $300 a night with discount. Two rooms at a moderate or deluxe would have cost more, and a suite at a moderate or deluxe would have been significantly more expensive.

Because everything about it is just like all the rest of the values EXCEPT for the high price of the suites.

There is no way I would pay $400 a night for a suite there when you can get the same size suite at ASMu for $230 a night.

The AoA suites are about $50 more per night than ASMu, not $170. That can still be significant, though.

The LM rooms are definitely aligned with the other values, both in the room and outside of it. The suites are a step up but I guess the definition of "suite" is different for value, moderate and deluxe.

I thought maybe it was because of the style of the resort. it was originally being built to be part of the pop century series, it was to be the early years. the foot bridge was to tye the two resorts together. they stopped construction on it for a lot of years and I don't think they knew how it could be considered anything but a value unless they where to completely start over. if I understand right, they were only to be rooms like the ones at the pop until they came up with making them suites like at the all stars.
I really don't know, that's just an uneducated guess.....
i'd love to hear more thoughts.

It is the newest - so that cost more

it is darn cute - again cost more

plus it is different.

disney will charge the maximum they can for any room

when Pop was opened only half way done - think by then (when they changed the Music to suties) it was in the design.

the only question stick with Pop (part of the problem with Pop was the things they wanted before WWII were consider collector items --so too expensive)

or change it to what most of the guests say they wanted. Disney rooms - so instead of using their older movies - they just use a little more recent ones.

was surprised that most of the AoA was suites - really though it would be half and half.

since disney is not having any problems keeping aoa full - they are not going to cut prices on it.

For this November the suites at Aoa are $312 a night plus tax. Which would make the room about $350 a night. At Christmas they are $400 a night. You can look it up on the Disney website.

Actually at Christmas if you want to be exact they are $479 a night PLUS TAX. Over $500 a night.

The Disney price tag doesn't read *value* for a family of 4 our under (unless you choose a LM room). But for those needing more space and a budget that doesn't include 2 rooms at another Value or Mod or a Deluxe room...it is a good fit.

Most of the rooms are suites, though. I'd argue that the suites are much nicer than rooms at the moderates. I think the Big Blue Pool is really nice, and has the cool underwater sound feature. In my opinion, the family suites are nicer and have more amenities than other value resorts. I'd call it value plus.

I know the pool is huge but I just think if you are spending $400/night for a room, they could of put a slide in the pool and added a hot tub. I just think it takes away from the resort that they did not add these things. It kind of cheapens the resort and I do think Disney had a great idea with the "suite" rooms. I also think for the price, they could put towels at the pool.

My post was in reference to the price differenct between AoA and ASMu.

You said you wouldn't pay 400 for AoA when ASMu was 230. The difference between the two is not that great.

On Christmas, AoA is $487, but ASMu is $442. A difference of about $50/night.
