Annual Pass / Hotel Discount

We will be three adults travelling at the end of September, spending 3 nights/days at Universal. Would it be worth it for one of us to purchase an annual pass in order to receive a room discount, or would we be needing to stay longer for it to make a difference. The difference between an annual pass and a 3 day park-to-park is $88.00, so we would need to save at least that on room rate.

you will have an additional $25 per night fee for the additional adult in the room.

don't know if your $88 had included that fee.



with hhn going on during the weekend, book early as rooms can fill up.

not as much for september but october weekends fill up by late summer.

Thanks everyone. It does appear to be worthwhile. A 3 night stay at RPR would be $785.04 w/o the APH discount, and $626.33 with, a difference of $158.71. That more than eats up the $88.00 difference between the 3 day Park to Park tix and the AP. Plus I believe an APH gets 1 HHN ticket, and we would be purchasing those too (we would buy S&S, and I'm not sure of the cost of those), and I think I read that APH get free parking (after first night), so that is another $18.00 x2. Does anyone know what they charge for internet?

Ooops. I was looking at the Florida resident AP prices. I have had to recalculate! The difference between the AP and the multi-day tix is now $120, so I'd still come out ahead. However, the free parking does not apply to the hotel, only to the park, so phooey to that. And this AP does not include a HHN tix, BUT it does include 15% of multi-tix for up to six people and we'd need to purchase 2 3day passes, and it says there is a discount for HHN but doesn't mention how much. So all that to say I believe it is worth it to purchase the AP.

Here's a new question for you experts! Can I call Universal, buy an AP, then book my hotel and the 2 extra multi-day tickets all in one phone call? The fine print for the AP mentioned 15% off multi tix at the front gate, but I'd like to have it all taken care of ahead of time.

I think you have to activate you AP before you can buy tickets. That means you need to either go thru the gate or go to guest services. This is because the pass can be exchanged and not really active till first use. So they cannot sell tickets for an inactive AP.

As for the hotel you can book the AP rate without an AP. you just need to show the AP at some point during your stay.

Tickets.... The discount is off of the full gate price. That full gate price is something like $20 over the discounted cost of tickets online, and it's generally better financially to just buy the other tickets through the website ahead of time. The discount off at-gate cost does not tend to be better than the ahead-of-time cost.

Or even better, you can buy the other tickets through a bonafide 3rd party seller like undercovertourist.com or Maple Leaf Tickets, and save even more than buying them at a discount from universalorlando.com. And then you have those tickets IN hand. Allowing the person who gets the AP to go right to the kiosks outside the park and get that AP printed right there. SO easy.

I think there might be a kiosk at the hotels, but I never had to show an AP *at* checkin, they tell me when to show it later, so there's no need to stress over it.

Thanks for all the input. I have used mapleleaftickets.com in the past for WDW tix, and purchased Universal tix online on UO's website before. Good to know those prices are better than using an AP's discount for them. I tell you, this vacation planning is exhausting
