Back from a fabulous 9 day stay at AKL. We had the Dining Plan - tried some new places and revisited some that we hadn't been to in a few years. We had quite a few *surprises*!

Some "not-so-good" surprises:
Coral Reef:fish: - been before and loved it - this time it won the worst meal award.
Kona: another revisit and it was terrible. We were excited by some of the dishes on the the menu, but they were a fail for us. Had it not been for the bread and fabulous desserts, we would have left starving.
Pizzafari: My all time favorite antipasto salad has been replaced by a dry, chewy, flavorless chicken and pasta salad.:worried:
La Hacienda - NEW - The food was ok - but it was not good enough for us not to miss the fabulous atmosphere across the street. Next time, if we want ok Mexican food we will pick San Angel.

Some GREAT surprises:
BOMA - a revisit after several years. Didn't love it before - thought everything tasted the same. This time - LOVED LOVED LOVED it! My favorite dinner of the trip!
Ragland Road - NEW - Ah-mazing meal. Absolutely fabulous service, atmosphere and food.
VIa Napoli - the one and only repeat from last year - Absolutely fantastic.

And the BIG winner of the surprise meal of the trip........wait for it......cause you won't believe it...................:rotfl:

*PIZZA PLANET* - Yes. It's true. The pizza was what it was...but it was cooked perfectly and I found THE antipasto salad! YUM! - and to complete the perfect lunch - those flippin cupcakes! :faint: Cappuccino Cupcake :lovestruc

HTH! :goodvibes

OH! I forgot one - Be Our Guest for lunch - NEW.
The food was very good. I really enjoyed the salad. The atmosphere is amazing. Definately worth a visit just to see it!

Thanks for the reports!
how funny pizza planet got such rave reviews. But great cupcakes can NOT be underrated. ;)

Boma was my favorite meal on our last trip. The soups are amazing, especially the carrot ginger soup and the coconut chicken curry soup. I also loved their pasta salad that had curry in it. I could have feasted on those dishes alone!

I have been seeing more good reviews of Pizza Planet lately. That Cappuccino cupcake seems to be calling my name.

Im glad you had a wonderful trip!! Love to hear that.

I really want to try Ragland Road. I just can't seem to fit in a trip to DD my next trip. We don't have a car, and it just takes so long to get to DD and back on buses. Plus, Im not much of a shopper, I get enough of that in the parks, and I have a hard time spending a lot of time out of the theme parks. Plus we are doing one or two days at the water parks this trip. My kids love those.

I might have to re-look at my schedule though..

Via Napoli is my favorite. We try to start and end our trip with meals here:rolleyes1

We do DTD dinner after a water park day! Works perfectly for us! Just an idea.

I was just going to say the same thing. We go to DTD ONLY for Raglan Road. I also budget for a taxi to and from DTD. It saves time and all the aggravation of the DTD buses. Well worth it.

Surprised about Pizza Planet--DH and I grabbed Pizzafari for lunch in AK because we'd heard terrible things about dining in DHS, but now I'm thinking we should have given Pizza Planet a chance.

And :thumbsup2 for Boma--DH loved it, and he likes nothing! I was so happy that he actually enjoyed something :joker:

For those considering BOMA - I highly recommend trying it. A few years ago we thought everything had the same seasoning to it. This time it was amazing - the salmon, the BBQ ribs, the roast chicken..all the salads - and the different flavored hummus - the carrot ginger soup was another winner for us too!

I think Raglan Road is well worth a special trip over to DTD.

We were also really, really surprised at Pizza Planet! - The last time we ate there it was terrible. It took us quite a few years before we ventured back! lol!

Going to have to give Boma a try next trip! Thanks for the reviews!!

The cupcakes are new. Used to just be cookies which were a bit of a disappointment.

Glad to see more good words about Via Napoli. We will be eating there for the first time on our next trip

We always liked pizza planet - even before cupcakes.

Sad to hear about Coral Reef. It was never my favorite and we try to skip it every other year. DD requested it this year so we will be going back. I was hoping to hear some good reviews of it :).

Boma is my favorite but now that dd is a disney adult and eats about 3 bites for dinner, its hard to spend that much money.

I'm in the Raglan Road and Boma Club. If you can get to either one you will seriously NOT be disappointed.

We'll give Pizza Planet a wing this year. We almost always avoid the DHS food because - let's face it - it pretty much sucks with the exception (in our opinion) of Backlot. We'll try Pizza Planet just for those dang cupcakes!! Although Starring Rolls Red Velvet Cupcakes will be tough to beat...:rotfl2:

Now I'm shaking in my bedroom slippers about the Coral Reef review - we have an ADR for there as well and hope it isn't terrible - it will be a new restaurant for us this year.

Hee Hee....ever wonder why we take our husbands! :rotfl2:
