So sad about the Fountainview Cafe

Ok, I know this probably has been news for a long time now, but I just discovered that the Fountainview Cafe is closed to be changed to a Starbucks. I realize it was just Edy's ice cream (isn't it always better at WDW though?), but this treat shop was my family's favorite for an afternoon cold treat. My DD loved to get one of the giant ice cream cookie sandwiches there, and my husband loved the sundaes. I'm so sad that it's being changed!

Yes, we'll live and I know there are others that are tickled pink about the change to Starbucks. It's just a little thing but it does bum me.

I remember, and correct me if I'm wrong, but the Fountain View cafe in Epcot used to add alcohol to their coffee beverages. I can remember getting a Mexican coffee there before Illuminations years ago.

Starbucks coffee doesn't bother me...it's the pastries that bother me. I don't want generic Starbucks pastries.

:thumbsup2 Totally agree!

Don't get me wrong, we do enjoy special treats/snacks at WS at the various countries. We just love the occasional yummy ice cream treat too, and the FC was our go-to stop.

There is a new place in France to get ice cream that recently opened.

Now you can try the new ice cream shop in France. They have a option of having a liquer poured over your ice cream!

I'm sure the tables will be gone, too, just like the Bakery. :worried:

Sitting at the tables in the nice, cool air conditioning is another reason we all loved this treat. Again, we love our WS snacks that are unique, but on a hot summer day, we also enjoyed sitting inside FC eating our delicious ice cream and watching the fountain or people. It was great!!

After all the hoopla about the Main Street Bakery now having Starbucks options, I'm surprised this just now popped up. Now one knows what is going to be offered at the Fountainview Cafe. In years past, this used to be a bakery and served wine. I loved sitting outside with a glass and watching the fountain. Then it switched to an ice cream place so I stopped going. But I still get a glass of wine and enjoy the fountain - just have to walk a bit further to get it.

If things didn't change, life would be boring.

When I mentioned the change to DH, he looked at me blankly and said that he did not even know which restaurant I was talking about.:rotfl:

The man loves his WS food options.

Ah...just reminiscing about the good ol' Fountainview Espresso and Bakery. DH and I always would grab a pastry, cup of coffee and watch the fountains after riding Soarin.

I was very disappointed when it turned into and ice cream shop and haven set foot in their since then.

The generic SB pastries don't turn me on either. I guess I'll just keep walkin' by!

Does anyone know if there is anywhere in epcot to get Tofutti now that fountainview is gone? Thanks

I haven't been to the Fountain View Café since it changed several years ago to selling Edy's ice cream. I miss the bakery they used to have. I don't have a problem with Starbucks, but like a previous poster I don't like their pastries. I wish MSB and FVC would sell the Disney pastries and treats rather than the Starbucks stuff.

They are going to sell both. At the Magic Kingdom they are just not rolling out the Disney stuff until 11 am.

I totally agree! :thumbsup2 We always made at least one visit on a hot summer day in Epcot and it was never crowded. It was quiet and cold. It was the perfect place to rejuvenate.
