The resort mugs are great to have for dessert lovers! When we eat at a QS inside our resort we bring our mugs and use them for our drinks and replace the drink with an extra dessert! This of course only works if your on the DDP. We would bring the extra desserts back to our room for a late night snack or breakfast in the morning, such as a muffin. You could also grab a drink that is capped and use your resort mug for lunch or dinner so you don't have to open it and save it for later in the room refrigerator!

I didn't know that you can swap it for an extra dessert! We usually get a bottled water to take to the parks.

I haven't done that but that's a good idea for carrying dessert back to your room.

I don't believe OP was saying switching a beverage for a dessert. This you can't do. I think OP is saying it's just easier to carry desserts back to their room. When we had a stroller carrying desserts was easier. Sometimes I'll just put it in my Bagallini. You can plan ahead and bring Ziplocs/containers.

Sorry guys, just to shine some addition light on my post.....the cast member at the Contemporary told us that we could swap out our QS drink for an extra dessert!! Is this not allowed at other places?? I thought it was great because we had snacks for a late night snack. We just used our resort mugs during our QS meals and got the extra desserts? Maybe we just had a really nice cast member?

My understanding has always been you can skip the dessert and get a bottled water instead. I'm not sure about other drinks. But I don't think it works the other way around!

We would use our refillable mugs with our QS dinner at our resort (POP Century) and grab a milk or juice as our "drink" and a muffin for our "dessert" and then we would have those for breakfast the next day! Great $$ and time saver for us!

I haven't heard of this being done on a regular basis. Maybe the CM was just being nice? It would be nice if this is policy. With the refillable mug we end up with a lot of beverages in the fridge. Desserts would be a great option for in-room breakfast.

Are you saying that you take your refillable mug with you to your resort QS dining location and instead of refilling the mug with a drink you put a desert in the mug and they let you take the desert in your mug instead of a refill of the drink as part of the DDP?

I think what they mean is with QS meal they are allowed an entree, dessert, and drink. If they bring their mug, then they can fill that as they want. But you're still allowed a drink with your meal. Some get a milk or bottled water. What they, and myself are wondering is if you could substitute that "extra" drink for another dessert. It'd be nice to get a muffin for later instead of a bottled water etc

I have used the Dining Plan a gajillion times - I have never heard of getting an extra dessert in place of your beverage.
