Stop hogging all the H2O!!!

My mom came with us to Alaska last year. She saved her lotion and shampoo. My husband and I are going back this year. She has given us the empties to throw away in the garbage so that she will get full replacements!

I agree, if I go to the Marriott and stay, I'm taking home all the lotions, shampoo & conditionar that is in my room. I am paying extra for those perks. It would be a different sotry if someone hijacked the cart full of them. Lighten up, do you really think this post is going to change anything?

But there ARE some people who DO essentially hijack the cart. I know I've seen it at the resorts - Mousekeeping is in a room and someone is loading up on the bottles from the cart.

I don't mind people taking an extra tube or a few home for personal use. What really bugs me is the incredible number of tubes that are for sale on eBay. And with the Disney labels on them (so it is highly unlikely that they are all seconds or overstocks being sold by a reseller). I find it reprehensible that people would take the extras and sell them.

Most places have security cameras in the hallways so I don't know if anyone would be game enough to do that I wouldn't. I have asked housekeeping when they're cleaning in a room for extra supplies if I've needed it and always made sure they've said it's okay before I take it off the cart, but I wouldn't just take it without asking.

Why would you want to buy sample sized toiletries off ebay? Unless you want people to think you've been travelling when they go to use your bathroom? Come to think of it, my S-MIL is a snob like that so maybe she's the reason why there are ebay sellers out there...

our first cruise we enjoyed the products and never got extra,. our 2nd cruise I purposely moved the lotion to an inconcispicious location to see if we would get more from SH, um no,, (considering I felt she wasn't very good SH this didn't surprise me),, finally ran into her and asked for more and she brought me 2 tubes,, I would have been fine with one. I love the shampoo but don't care for the conditioner so much, but since we didn't use all those and that stuff doesn't wander off I left it be.
I don't have a problem w taking home a tube or 2 but that is prob about the max of what would be reasonable IMO. I think of it as a lovely post cruise reminder when I slather lotion each morning.
Will DCL go broke? prob not.
Now what would be GREAT if they mailed me out a set in my blue cruise plan brochure I got today!

i'm guess it's because this is a serious issue to many posters...

Some believe taking extras of these home is clearly abusing Disney's intent, even stealing, and is wrong.

Some believe this is such a small issue that it should matter to no one, least of all Disney. It's silly that it should even be discussed. Disney expects it and can easily afford it.

Never the twain shall meet, and both can't understand how the other could have possibly arrived at that moral decision.

Lots of good imbedded threads...shower caps...eBay...taking other things on the sly...what other hotels do...quality of H2O products...

I taught in an inner city high school for years. This was a school where 100% of the kids ate a free lunch AND breakfast, and a very high percentage qualified for a take-home dinner, and meals throughout the summer. We had a closet where kids could go to get things such as toothpaste, feminine products, soap, etc. There were even eyeglasses and clothing donated locally. So many of these kids had parents who just did not have it together to obtain to these things for their kids - a combination of lack of money and lack of motivation, sadly.

I ALWAYS took home the soap and shampoos from hotels and brought them back to this closet. If the hotel manager saw that as stealing, then I apologize.

My guess is that we stress over this issue (and so many others) much more than Disney does. I'm guessing this thread would have them laughing.

Would it surprise you that DCL actually knows that people take some extra home and they LIKE that? It keeps their brand before you and even makes you long to take another cruise.

When I used the remainder of mine over the next week or so after my cruise, I take a two minute vacation right there in my shower. I definately makes me want to take another cruise.

I know a lady who asks everyone she knows to bring back the shampoos, etc. from their trips. She collects it all year and then gives it out at Christmas to homeless people around town.
