Why is 3/22/14 more popular than 3/15/14?

I am looking at a cruise on the Fantasy March 2014. Why is 3/22/14 so much more popular than 3/15? Is that when some public schools have spring break?

Our anniversary is 3/24 so that is the vacation DH applied for and was granted. But 3/15 is so much more affordable. and DS college break is 3/15 so if we can move vacation then he could come-in the kid cabin.

Most likely its just a timing thing with Spring Break. Could also be an eastern vs. western deal. pirate:

Is the 3/15 a Western? I was wondering the same thing about the cruise before ours. All the other Fantasy cruises in June were looking quite full (and pretty expensive, LOL). But the cruise right before ours ended up with VGT rates and all categories open about a month or so before sail date. The only thing that I could think of was that the Western wasn't as popular as the Eastern. But even the Western earlier in June looked pretty well sold (based on categories available).

I also think the closer you get to school breaks, the more crowded they will be. I was watching three different 2014 Alaska cruises and the further you got into August (when kids were heading back to school), the cheaper the cruises got.

While spring breaks vary from school to school, I think far more of them have their break during the 3/22 week. I know my kids do. I'm really guessing that is the big difference. Other than college breaks, most elementary/high schools don't have breaks as early as 3/15.

There was a cruise for sometime in March that had a pricing error on opening day, and the prices were crazy good. Lots of people recognized the deal & jumped on it. Not sure if that's what's going on here, but it may be why one date is more popular than the other.

Easter is really late next year, so springs breaks are probably trending toward late March and into April. I think ours isn't until the second full week of April. So 3/15 is going to be early for many schools.

I also noticed that for July 2014 the prices were different for eastern vs western.

Just looking at the title of your post I thought "spring break." Most school will have spring breaks from the third week of March into the second week of April.

Our kids are on break the week of the 24th. We will be on the eastern fantasy!

DH has put in request to switch to the earlier week.
He isn't sold on a cruise yet so the more affordable the better my chances of getting him on it and of him enjoying it. I know he would love Remy and Palo and sleeping in!

I agree it has to do with spring break. I was pleasantly surprised to find out our spring break week is 3/15 next year. I was watching the prices for the month of March and noticed how much higher the later weeks were. Our spring break was later this year to coincide with Easter and the cruise prices were higher.

Our spring break in Tampa is 3/10-3/14. Love that its so early ;)

Our spring break here in Hillsborough County Florida starts on 3/10. I hate that it's so early but it's a great way to save money when traveling on DCL.

Our Spring Break here in Springfield, MO is March 7 -16. It works out perfect for our plans and it coincides with my spring break as well at the local community college that I teach at. So now the only person that has to get time off is my DH.
