I bought 2 pair of leggings today.

One pair is a blue denim color.

One pair is a coral color.

Please, can someone explain the "do's and don'ts" for leggings?

I know the main rule is make sure your shirt/dress covers your bum.

Any other advice you can give me to make these look as good as I can?

Be a size 6 or under and younger than 25...that's my do's and don'ts for leggings. Other than that I have no other pointers since I don't meet either of those qualifications. :lmao:

I am a size 8 and in my mid-30's. So I am already breaking 2 of your rules, LOL.
:)

They need to be worn with a shirtmlng enough to cover your rear end, like a tunic or something

I was going to say 22 and under and size 2 or less :rotfl:

Oh, and cover your backside.

Buy good quality (not thin fabric that will get baggy at the knees or sheer at the butt) leggings. Nothing shiny or spandex.

Wear long tops/tunics/dresses that fully cover the crotchular area and rump, at minimum. Mid-thigh is better.

leggings are not underwear and should not be substituted for such.

nor are they pants.

That said, I'm well over 25 (though I do hover around a size 6) I wear leggings all the time. So do most of my friends. I primarily use them under those cute dresses that are just a little too short to be appropriate for a "woman my age."

In the winter I wear them with boots. In the summer, ballet flats.

No skin-colored leggings! You'd think you wouldn't have to tell people that but in the last month I have seen this rule broken twice--once by a white girl wearing light peach leggings and another chocolate brown girl wearing chocolate brown leggings. Both times I did a double take because they looked like they weren't wearing any pants at all!

Oh dear! I amend my statement - there are two rules!

They are not pants. Do not substitute them for proper pants.

Along with covering your rear end with a tunic, make sure that they you raise your arms, no one sees more than you intended. I am tired of seeing women in leggings (often sheer) raise their arms/sit in a chair and I get a big old look at black thongs worn underneath. If I'm seeing a black thong disappear up your backside, I am seeing your backside.

You must also have unusually long legs and being over 6 feet tall doesn't hurt.

I've heard that the rule for fashion is that if you were around for the trend the first time, then you're too old for it the second time it comes around. That makes me definitely too old for leggings. :thumbsup2

 I'm breaking your rules too, I'm 42, size 8 and I wear leggings.

Well, then I'd have to walk around naked because all fashion has already been done in my lifetime. LOL

OP wear your leggings but please wear a shirt/tunic/dress that's long enough to cover your butt with your arms in the air. lol That's really my only rule. ;)
