June 1 Med - A Merry Band of Invalids (London, Barca, Med Cruise, Paris)

Your favorite picture makes me really excited for our trip. Where was that again? I can't wait to try to capture that same picture during my trip.

I hope your pain goes away soon and you can continue to build wonderful memories with your beautiful daughters. You will blink your eyes and they will be grown.

Again thank you VERY much for sharing all of your trip. It sure helps me with my planning!! ::yes::

Thank you so much for this wonderful report! I am sure I am not alone when I ask that you let us know from time to time how you are getting on with your 'mesh'. I for one hope that you soon find yourself free from the chronic pain.:flower3:

Thank you so much for your well wishes! I had my consultation yesterday and the surgeon said that recovery from the mesh removal would be 2 months of bed rest. I'm trying to figure out whether I can do that as a practical matter with my kids, and honestly whether I'm emotionally up to it again.

The surgeon is in Florida, an hour from WDW. The DIS mom in me thought, oh well maybe a combo WDW trip and surgery. :lmao: Ok really, only half kidding.

Can you imagine that trip report?

I'll update this post if we decide to really do it. WDW + Mesh Removal Surgery. :rotfl:

:cheer2: thanks for reliving in with us :cheer2:

It's nice to know people are reading :)

The picture was from a hilltop in Portofino. Feel free to let me know if you have any planning questions. I saw your questions in your main thread on the forums, and I had suggested perhaps doing Rome separately (as a non DCL excursion). Let me know if you need any help!!

Ouch..2 months of bedrest! I say combine it with WDW..:) I want to read that report! P&PD to making the decision that is best for you and your family.

What site did you use to get your tickets for the Underground Tour for the Colosseum?

I have 3 things I want to do and my DH is just coming along. I really want to do this on our own, but he is really hesitant. 1) Underground Tour, 2) Vatican tour(s), and 3) Trevi Fountain. I see that you used Walks of Italy for transfering as well as the in person tour for the Vatican. I think that is the way I am leaning. :)

Oh I know, right! Surgery + AKV Club level stay post surgery. :rotfl: Watch some animals from the balcony.

Thanks for following along. :)

Ooh, I think that is a fantastic idea! Will your insurance pay for that? :rotfl:

All of this made me :rotfl:

On a more serious note, I hope it all goes well, whatever your decision :goodvibes

The Colosseum uses this website for its Underground Tour and online ticket sales. They add a surcharge but its well worth it to skip the insanely long lines when you get there:

http://www.ticketclic.it/database/B2c/Order01.cfm?LN=1

Choose your date, then choose the tour that says in English "Underground Tour", which means that the tour is conducted in English.

If you choose the 12pm tour like us, you will have to cut it short by leaving at around 1pm to cab to the Vatican. Walks of Italy's Vatican Highlights tour meets at 1:45pm near the Vatican. The tour ends around 4:30pm, we left St Peters at 4:45pm, back on the ship before 6pm.

If you book roundtrip transfers with them, the company will help you coordinate with the guide after the tour to return you to the ship. Our guide actually walked us over from St. Peter's to the minivan. It was great.

Email them for more info. I worked with Linda from Walks of Italy. She's the one that coordinated the day for us. I'm sure if you ask Linda to copy my itinerary and that you're on the Disney Ship she'll know exactly what to do. I'll PM you my name. :)

Thanks for the well wishes. Hopefully I'll be all better by the EBTA. If we're both on the ship, let's have a drink :thumbsup2

A great trip report. I am so glad that you enjoyed London. Our train into town goes into Charring Cross and my children love to see Big Ben.

Can I just ask whether Tea with Alice was offerred on your cruise.

Many thanks

Lisa :)

What a wonderful report! I love you writing and sense of humor! You always had something positive to say and I love that! I'm going on the Med cruise next week and this only heightens my excitement! pixiedust::goodvibes
Looks like you were in an inside room? What room did you have? I'm curious to see if you had the same one we're booker for. :scratchin

You're on. (But my drink will have to be :coffee: as I don't drink alcohol.)

No problem at all! I'm such a caffeine addict it's not even funny. ;)

Love all the photos! Thank you for sharing!

Oh gosh, you know this was one of the things we wanted to do but didn't get around to asking at Guest Services. There were 2 Sea Days though, so you'd think so. Maybe someone else can chime in? Sorry.

Thanks for the compliments! We were in the Sideways 6511. I really really liked this room. We actually had enough space to let the girls play while I packed/unpacked. The layout was great.

We did it on the EBTA (and it was awesome! so much better than the Tea with Friends that we did on the MR last year) but I didn't notice it listed in the navigator on the first day. (On the EBTA it was listed in that first navigator along with the camp out as things to go to guest services for getting tickets.)

No problem at all! I'm such a caffeine addict it's not even funny. ;)

We were in your FE group! Thanks for the trading pins! My DD was very excited to receive them and declared them 'too nice to trade'. She let me keep the snowman-type one. Ok, she didn't let me keep it - I snatched it before she saw it. ;) After reading your report I told her how they were all traded at Disneyland and she appreciates the story.

I'm glad you and your daughter enjoyed them!! It was really fun to put this project together and my DD took so much care in trading for pins she thought people would like. I was cleaning them (soap & water) for packaging and it was a little difficult parting with some of the pins :lmao:

I actually remember the snowman one. It had a red scarf, right? It was from the Concierge desk at the Grand Californian when we were taking an afternoon break from Disney's California Adventure.

I was following your TR! Hope you guys had fun on your trip too! BTW, which company did you use for your Portofino, Sorrento & Pompeii day? If we ever go back, I'd like to find a different driver :) Thanks!
