Animal Crossing: New Leaf

So I caved...spent all weekend looking for the game (everybody was sold out-finally found it at the TRU that is 40min away) and bought it for DS7. Since it is his 3DS, we made him the mayor and myself and DD15 are townsfolk-lol!

We are doing pretty well on the fishing as we all have poles and shovels. Bugs are a different issue. Since we got it late Sat. DS was the only one who played that night. Apparently there was a Bug-Off that day and he said the person running it gave him a net. DD and I can not find a net for the life of us. Are the two of us going to have to wait till the next Bug-Off to get nets? I really don't want to change the dates. Trying to be good and play the game true time, rather than skip around (which I had a tendency to do on the Wii-I'm impatient, what can I say?)

Has anyone gotten sling shots yet either? I'm seeing/hearing balloons all over town and can't get them. I barely ever saw them in the other AC versions and in this game they are all over the place! The kids are still in school, so I spent the day 'working' AC. :rolleyes1

The nets are sold at Timmy and Tommy's store. They alternate which tools they sell each day, so one day you might have a shovel and a fishing pole and the next a net, etc. It's completely random. Just keep checking everyday! As far as slingshots go, I didn't see one until their store upgraded (after spending 12k bells there I think).

Good luck!

I just had my store upgraded - so I hope to be able to get a slingshot soon. Like a PP, I've been seeing baloon presents like crazy but can do nothing but sit and watch them fly by. :lmao:

Today I was cutting down some trees in my plan to create an orchard. All of the stumps had the usual "tree ring" markings on them, but one had rings in the shape of a heart. Does anybody know if that means anything? :confused3(I haven't gotten rid of the stump yet, I have to do some research into it.)

I found another place you can get a net from, just in case someone doesn't know yet. ;)

I couldn't sleep last night so was playing AC using DS7's character, the Mayor. I was working on the advice quests as DD15 and I are like "we need a dump" so was trying to see what I could do to move the process on a bit (in retrospect, making DS the Mayor probably wasn't the best choice, but it is his 3DS :scratchin). During one of my missions I had to catch 3 bugs and show them to Isabella. She asked if I had a net and I said no (even though DS did have one). Anyway she sold me one for 500 bells, same price as T&T. Now grant it I dropped it in front of my door and mailed DS 500 bells to pay for it, but I was able to get a net last night that way. Of course, today T&T had a net, but it worked out since DD could get it and now we all have nets. Now just to get that slingshot!

Ok, I caved, too! I was such a fan of City Folk, but I didn't want to buy a 3DS just for Animal Crossing. Yeah, that way of thinking didn't last too long. :lmao:

I am soooo glad I bought this game! As a PP said, it is so much more involved than City Folk - I'm overwhelmed by how much there it to do & to unlock! Thanks, Nintendo. You give me these challenges for unlocking things & everything else in my life falls by the wayside. My house is a mess, my children are neglected...just kidding..sort of. :rotfl:

So, once I get my friend code I will be back & willing to trade codes with whomever wishes to! Visiting new towns is part of the fun. :goodvibes

P.S. don't have a slingshot? I just read online that as the balloon gift passes the border between the town & the beach, it floats lower & you can pop it with your net. I am so going to try this! Last night I watched 3 balloons float past & cursed Timmy & Tommy for not stocking a slingshot.

For those of you who have been playing - has Redd visited your town yet? I read that he'll show up at your plaza once a week or so.

I'm eager to buy some artwork - I want to get the second floor expansion of the Museum under way.

Also, any hints on getting my hibiscus to grow/live? Does it have to be planted in a certain area like the palm trees? :confused3

Yes I have had redd twice. A word to the wise. He sells fake art. There will be four art items and only one of them will be real.

If anyone has the guide or is willing to do a little legwork, you can find out which painting is the real one! The guide to the game makes it super easy.

No guide, but I do the leg work. I compare Redd's to real life art pictures I find on the net. Is the guide worth the 20 bucks?
