What to buy at our grocery stop?

We will be going on our first cruise in a few weeks, and we have a grocery stop planned with our car service. I have no idea what to buy! I am curious what other people have bought on these stops, what you find necessary to take on the cruise with you. I am aware of the alcohol, bottled water, etc., but what else?

Thanks for any help you may be able to give me. I know there is a ton of food available on the ship...just wondering what we will feel like we are really missing that they don't offer. One thing I know will be cereal for my son. He has a bowl every night as a snack, so I know I will need to buy his favorite. Thanks!

Booze. That is all. You have more food on the boat than you can eat. You can also pick up other essentials like sunscreen etc if you didn't pack them. But really, it is just to pick up loads of booze. cheers and enjoy.

Lol! This is what I pretty much expected. I'm sure I will get a lot of these. We shall see...

If there are any little snacks or candy they like you can pick that up. There is some candy for sale on the ship but I think it's fairly expensive. They could take it to the movies or to the shows

What is your favorite soft drink? The ships have Coke products, so if you prefer root beer, Pepsi or Dr Pepper, you need to haul your own.

on the cabanas buffet they have lots of cereals in those little bowls, u could pick up a few for night snacks.
really other than your fav drink of choice & maybe some candy for shows u need nothing!

What is his favorite cereal? They offer many cereals onboard from room service or from the buffet in the mornings.

I have seen:

Apple Jacks
Fruit Loops
Rice Krispies
Low-fat Granola

and I am sure I am missing some.

We really enjoyed taking some flavoured coffee creamer with us on our last cruise. It really made our breakfast room service pot much nicer. It was a nice upgrade.

This made me laugh. I am following a post about the H2O products...I think the original poster on that thread would have a meltdown with your comment. Lol. But I see it as a great option! Thanks!

We bought some in the little packaged cups to bring with us, but they didn't have our favorite flavor. I suppose I could buy some at the store. Thanks for the idea!

Case of bottled water
Beef jerky
sunscreen
non-drowsey Dramamine

And anything we forgot to pack. On the drive/flight down to the port we keep a list.....then stop at Walmart....we've had to buy sock, flip flops, belt and many other things over the years.

This is what I figured we may do as well. We come in the night before and may discover at the hotel that night that we forgot something.

Suggest you don't bother with the case of bottled water. The water on board the ship is very good - not typical Florida water.

But it's nice to keep half a dozen bottles in the fridge so you always have cold water. We always take a back-pack when we leave the ship for towels, sun screen, and several bottle of water. Also nice to take a bottle to the pool and not have to worry about keeping up with your water bottle. You can buy bottled water on the ship for about $3/bottle....or you can get a case at the grocery store for about $0.30/bottle.

I thought we'd get a few bottle of Smart water or something, that we could refill and not worry about losing. They have great caps on them.

On another note, I'd love to hear sometime why you are "OKW Lover"...we will be there for the first time July 20-26 and cannot wait!! Any tips would be appreciated.

I have a list going already for our trip in mid-July. We're not going to pack some stuff that we would ordinarily pack to keep the weight down in our luggage and just buy the stuff when we get there. We're going to be on the cruise, then in Vancouver for a week, so it will be nice to be able to use what we're used to. Here's our current list:

shampoo (for those that don't want to use the h2o, or who we prefer not to, like DS12 who needs 'man' shampoo now :) ).
conditioner (as above)
liquid hand soap (I don't like bars)
body wash (I need unscented)
body wash poofs
kleenex (bad allergies -- hotel kleenex is like sand paper)
air Freshener
lysol wipes
cottonel wipes
wrinkle release
candy
beef jerky
luna bars
liquor

I am gluten intolerant and my 16yo niece has von Willebrand. Finding something that I CAN eat and something she WILL eat 'right now' is usually challenging when away from home. Its best to just bring some stuff and if we don't use it, we don't use it.

We're renting a car for the day on Sunday and going to Wal-Mart, Target, and the liquor store that is really close to Target that is open on Sundays.

If we weren't going to be gone for >2 weeks, we'd probably either pack little versions of these or do without (like the lysol and air freshener).

Always on our list is Downey Wrinkle Release, small can of air freshener/neutralizer for the bathroom, and foaming pump hand soap for the bathroom. I hate picking up a bar of soap to wash my hands.

We took granola bars, cracker packs (like peanut butter sandwich crackers) and fruit chews- mostly for the kids but we ended up snacking on them also, especially when we went on excursions. Nice to have snacks in your bag. And pop-tarts- for the same reason. We also had reusable water bottles (like ones you would take to an exercise class) that were good to fill with ice and a drink from the drink station, instead of the little paper cups provided.

I like some of the other ideas, our only cruise was last summer out of NYC, we drove into the city, so didn't have to worry about a flight before boarding. I've got a running list for next years cruise, since we will be out of PC.

We got those REAL LIMES to add to our Tequila and something else (honey got it) to make margaritas in our cabin with. You can't bring fruit on, so this solved that problem. I had plenty left over too and continued to use them with ridiculous sentimentality after the trip. ("Aww you were on the Dream with me" squirt squirt)
