Will they release more standard rooms?

The two resorts I am looking at (Beach Club and Riverside) in December do not have any standard rooms available my week. Are they really that booked up already? They have Pool/Lagoon view rooms, Garden View, Club Level, etc. I do not want the added cost, and refuse to pay $550 a night! My question is---does anyone know if Disney "holds" some rooms back, in hopes of selling those more expensive rooms first.....then releases the standard rooms later?

Thanks in advance!

I think the least expensive views are the first to get booked. Everyone else wants to save a few bucks, too.

I don't believe they hold any rooms back, but like pp said the cheaper rooms go first. Of the remaining Garden View is not generally much more. I think when I was looking at going it was maybe $10 more a night? If you definitely want to book there I'd take that for now and watch and see if anything else opens up.

People will cancel, especially around the 45 day mark. I found this when we booked our recent trip. There were no standard rooms then there were some. They came and went and we almost booked YC for my MIL who was coming for a few days when out of the blue BC opened up again. Just keep watching.

Oh and if your dates are flexible move them around a little and see if you find a room. For example if you put 12/1 to 12/8 and there are no standard rooms on 12/1 it will show unavailable the entire time you are looking for.

There are plenty of others who feel the same which is why all the standard rooms are booked. They are the first to go.

I've noticed the same thing for BC and CR for the first week of December. I'm really surprised by how busy that week seems to be...

BC has been booked for the first week of December since March. :( Its possible there might be some cancellations, especially as you get closer to the date and people finalize their plans. But I wouldn't count on it.

I should have figured that it was "REALLY" booked and they weren't holding rooms back! That week does seem to have gotten much busier. Although, it's not just that week....any dates I put in for fall/early Dec. has no standard rooms at BC (at least not for 6 nights). I guess we will have to save the BC for another time. Thanks for the input and I will book earlier in the future!

I considered booking BC but it's totally sold out for our dates and has been for awhile.. I'm sure due to Food & Wine. YC was sold out until yesterday, I happened to check for BC and it suggested YC... a club level room, but that's waaaay outta the budget. I'm with ya and maybe can do BC some other time. :) Just gives me something else to look forward to.

I'm going to keep checking because you never know!

Sometimes if they can't sell the high prices rooms, they do put more standards out and plan for upgrades. AKL does this a lot.

I've found the same. I've had our BLT booked since the first day we could book it for that week. When I play around with other ressies-there isn't anything available....

Why not check to see if David's Vacation Rentals has anything available for Beach Club Villas for that week? It would be cheaper.....

I would book your second choice, but keep checking for the BC as you never know when/if something might become available. I have come across the same thing in the past that the room type I wanted wasn't available at the time I booked. I would keep checking every day or every couple of days and eventually my room type would open up. So I wouldn't give up hope just yet as there's still time between now and December for things to change :goodvibes.

We are staying at BC the first week of December for a conference (Garden view for $175/night....cannot be beat!!). There may be some rooms that are held back for the conference that end up not getting booked so keep checking.

BCV was booked since 11 months out.
