Beach Club - Good or Bad Choice?????

It's also good to know that the CM are helpful. Im a severe epileptic and it's comforting to know that they are good in crisis :)

What a pleasure to read this thread! Hubby and I are going to be at BC garden view July 5th and I am so looking forward to SAB as we are just relaxing this time around...it'll be our first visit to BC. How are the garden view rooms? Where are they located in relation to SAB? Any special requests that I should make? Thanks!:)

Hi willow909! Just so you know, I called the Disney Reservation # and asked if there were any special and they upgraded my garden room to a lagoon view AND reduced the cost bc of a 30% off summer special. Worth a shot ;)

I don't want to give you false hopes about medical issues; all their accomodations were in terms of making things easier for us. But in that respect, they absolutely went above and beyond.

Not at all :)) just good to know that CM are helpful and nice. TA made them sound rude :(

Thank you so much...I do have the summer special right now!:cool1: So excited! Have you been there before and should I make any special requests?

Here is a thread that shows a sample of room views by type (standard, garden, water)

Beach Club Room Views

If you would like a location near the lobby/transportation/SAB, you should request "Close to lobby, please". There are also rooms that are very close to the International Gateway: "Near EPCOT, please". If a patio or full balcony is important to you, your request should be "Full balcony/patio, please"

Thank you natebenma....I really am there just for sab, so I will look at the rooms and make a request! :)

We were just at beach club literally two weeks ago, and it was nice. As others have mentioned, negative reviews on upkeep likely due to three factors- 1) people staying at beach club villas, which have a bit of a "lived in" feel, 2) people not used to paying the "Disney" premium, particularly when compared to similarly priced hotels in Orlando not directly on Disney property - as someone else hinted, this is a VERY nice hotel, but will not be the same hotel (in terms of pure hotel amenities, luxury of room, etc) as the Waldorf, and certainly not the Orlando Ritz (although the I think the Ritz is probably a bit more than Beach club, probably priced similar to poly or grand floridian), and 3), you looked at tripadvisor, whose reviewers are notoriously critical of disney, mainly due to factor 2.

I disliked the Beach Club, and not for any of the 3 reasons listed above. I dislike it for 3 different reasons. First off, the quick service options at the Beach Club are very limited. It seems Disney assumes you will just wander the boardwalk if you are hungry. Second, the bus service was pretty terrible during our stay. The buses were always crammed full, and as they share with the other boardwalk area resort it makes for some looong bus rides. Third, Storm Along Bay shuts down completely at night, which is a bummer if you like to go swimming in a nice pool at night.

I honestly thought the Beach Club would be my favorite resort, and it isn't even in the top 5. The best thing it has going for it is location.

We love BC!! Stay there every summer. I know others have had issues with buses but each and every time we've stayed there we have only shared with YC. Can't wait to be back in a few weeks!!!

If you absolutely need that pool and like peace and quiet and a lobby that does not smell of old crab legs stay at the yacht club. I hate being negative, but I think a word of warning would have helped us make a better decision. It is LOUD. It is crowded. You wait for everything. The housekeeping is sloppy and the service is meh.

I go in June. It's hot. The parks are crowded. I expect my resort to offer a much needed respite from all the madness. The contemporary did. The grand did. The wilderness lodge, the boardwalk, the yacht club all offered peace and quiet. The beach club offered no rest. We routinely walked to the boardwalk just to get food or ice cream because the waits and crowds were too much. When we left the bus we got off at the yacht club just for a little peace.

I am in a car as I write this going home glad that I'll never have to stay here again.

I almost forgot. They still serve Nescafé. Luckily I found better coffee at the yacht club!

Hi all!!! I'm super new to this board and I am so excited to find other people who are obsessed as I am with Disney! So I have been looking on Trip Advisor and some of the reviews of the BC are super negative :worried: I'm going to Disney in August with my husband and parents. Just wondering if I have made the right choice and whether I should change? Biggest complaints on TA is renovations are needed. Any advice? I'm so confused

Well, not to be snarky but there's your first mistake. You are reading reviews of Disney resorts. You will see negative reports on every single Disney resort. Every.single.one. I'll repeat - every single one.

The only thing I will caution you about the Beach Club is not every room has a full balcony. If that's important, request a full balcony. However, our room seemed smaller because of it so if it's four adults in one room, that might not be a good idea. You could also ask for a ground floor room so you get a patio instead of the whole balcony issue.

We liked the Beach Club - our only thing was we were on the second floor near the stairs to go to the lobby and had people on their way out to the buses early in the morning just yapping away as they were walking by. If I'm ever lucky enough the stay there again, I'm asking for a room as far away from the lobby as possible.

I'm thinking perhaps the time of year may make a difference in some of the complaints I've read just on this thread. Like the pool closing early, I know it's earlier in the winter than the summer. I read it was closing at 8pm at one point but it was open much later when we were there.

And I've read the lobby is loud and crowded, but didn't really experience that while we were there just last month. I mean it was busy at times, but nothing crazy. And no major waits for anything or crab leg smell and believe me I notice smells. :confused3

But we never go to Disney during very crowded times so perhaps that's the difference.

As for the pp who loved the beds that is one thing I can say I didn't like about BC. My bed was way too firm and uncomfortable, most of the pillows too. After reading how the mod resort beds were so much better than value I thought deluxe would have been even better, but that was a disappointment. Of course DH loves a firm mattress so it was fine for him.

We also ended up with a room right near the elevators and across from the ice machine so I thought it was going to be terribly noisy but we were never woken by noise or anything. Sure we heard people in the halls when we were up, but that didn't bother us.

Oh and as for Mousekeeping they were awesome! Did a great job and unlike at POFQ they came when we were actually gone and didn't knock on the door every 15 minutes in the morning. We also got our first ever towel creations which the kids and I loved. They made an elephant, a flower and a swan as well as the standard Mickey heads.

It's so interesting to me how people can stay the same place and have such different experiences and views.

Have never experienced any of what you describe but different strokes for different folks. Curious why you just didn't move to a hotel that was better suited for you.

It would take being held up up at knife point in the hallway for me to change hotels! I reserved a week. I stayed a week. I like to give a resort a chance. Having stayed a week, I know now beyond a doubt, never again.

It's inevitable that as soon as you book something you start reading all kinds of negative experiences about it. We loved the BCR 2 years ago and I'm having a hard time trying something new next year because we loved it so much. Didn't think it was at all in need of a renovation in 2011.

I thought all of the main pools closed at night at all of the resorts? If you want a night time swim you have to go to one of the "quiet pools" which stay open all night.

I'm so surprised that you could smell crab legs in the lobby with the air freshener they use ?

Unless it was during the dinner meal time!

We loved YC also, but did find the lobby almost too quiet. Of course I enjoy more action!!
