My family and I were suppose to take 3 day Disney Cruise 6/20 on the Disney Dream to the Bahamas out of Port Canveral but do to recent financial trouble are unable to go. Party of 5 Original pricing is $4,280 paid in full. Does anyone know what options are to get refund or something? I spoke to disney cruise representative but she stated it's non-refundable. When I booked through travelocity I paid extra for the travel insurance and now they are saying it doesn't apply in this case. They offered to allow me to exchange cruise for another at another date but I don't need that I need refund or something even if there is penality I'm willing to accept that as long as I can get msot of the money back. Please help/advise

Unless your insurance has "cancel for any reason" coverage, I think you are out of luck!
Sorry you are in this situation.

Agree with PP. Travel insurance normally covers medical issues only not financial issues. In fact offering you a swap in dates is more than they are legally obligated to do. I don't think there are any options available to you.

Yes you are into the no refund portion being 1 week out. The only way to get a refund now is if your insurance had a cancel for any reason. Otherwise it would need to be a covered reason like weather delay, illness, etc. You need to read your insurance certificate

Getting the travel insurance offered through DCL allows you to move your cruise to another date [paying the difference if there is one between the current cruise and the one you transfer to]. The Allianz travel insurance policy doesn't cover pre-existing conditions and it is not a cancel for any reason policy.

Check your credit card company rules. There might be a travel protection/financial protection clause. That's assuming you paid with a CC

I feel sorry for these people I could t imangine haveing this problem... Being paid in full and them can't go for these reasons I think in order from losing out in ur money I would reschedule to the latest date they will let you and hopefully by then things will be looking up for you!!!

Not sure about Disney but with Carnival we were offered a full "refund" but in way of a credit for another Carnival cruise and we had 2 years to use it. So if that is an option take it...maybe you can do within the next 2 years....rather than losing the money.

Are either of you self employed? I had trip insurance and we cancelled and got all but 1K back...we cancelled a year ahead of time. Anyway, I was able to write a letter indicating hubby is self employed and had to cancel the trip due to an important job. But you can't lie about it..they asked for letterhead and the EIN number of the company.

Should try to go anyway if paid in full. Sounds like you will either go on the cruise or lose the money. I know it sounds crazy, but if you cant get it back, going would be a break from you financial stresses. No way I would lose that kind of money.

Sorry to hear you are in a fix. On Feb. 28, we found out my husband's position was being eliminated when the school year ended--2 days before we were leaving on 4-night Bahamas on Disney Dream on May 12. Of course at that point we were PIF. We figured we'd lose more than we would gain if we canceled, so we just went ahead. We had a wonderful time! It was hard coming back and facing the struggles of unemployment, but we didn't have the added disappointment of a lost vacation. We did "bare bones"--no extras, no excursions, very limited souvenirs, and we don't drink so that helped the budget. You can still make some great memories. Our attitude was hey, it's paid for; might as well enjoy! Hope you can do the same.

That's what I would do, too. Especially if the OP's location is accurate.

I am not always reasonable I admit, but this I agree with this and think my honey would too. If you can't have the cash in hand and are going to lose it, then you might as well have a great memory out of it? You don't even have to do excursions if you don't want and soda is included and tipping is 12 per day pp which isn't much more than a price of a 3d movie...

I hope you can work it out..

Tips would come to $300. That's a lot more than a movie.

Come up with the 180 for tips. The kids will get to do fun crafts in the club they can keep as souvenir's. My kids got a tee shirt that they got signed by all the CM's in the club, pretty cute. Plus swimming anywhere almost wins over the vacation for my kids, if they can swim they don't care about anything else. The experience will be amazing for them. Take lots of picture and make a scrapbook later. Hope you can go, you wont regret it.
