Please don't flame me.

I'm going to be in Disney in October with the dining plan. The way my flights fall, we'll have three extra sit down credits (we're getting in late on the first day and leaving early on the last day). My sister and niece are coming down a few days after us and will not be on the dining plan. Can I take them to dinner one night and use two of my three extra credits?

I'm not going to flame you, but it is against Disney's rules to share your credits with people not on your DDP. The CMs will only charge the maximum number of credits that show on your KTTW card, so you won't be able to use your extras. If you can't use all your TS credits maybe the DDP is not a good fit for your family.

It isn't possible to share as your DDP credits are tied into your room key. Maybe plan some TS breakfasts as well as dinners, or even a lunch so you can use all of your credits. Or maybe even like Robin said, don't do the dining plan as it doesn't sound to fit into your plans. Good luck!

Well, it's free dining, so it's definitely a good fit. I was just thinking that the way the cards read, you have, for example 15 table service credits remaining. I figured if I wanted to use 5 of those at once it would be okay.

Sorry, it doesn't matter how many credits remain. If you are a family of 4 with 2 kids 9 and under the card will say "2A 2C" and that is ALL you can order at a TS restaurant. You can't order 3 adult meals even if you have all your allotment remaining. Similarly, if your kids are 10 and over your KTTW card will say "4A" and you won't be able to order 5 meals because that exceeds your maximum.

FTR, "free" dining is not always the best discount. It really depends on the size of your family, the ages of your kids and the level of resort you booked. Room only discounts are generally better for smaller families (or couples) staying at Deluxe resorts.

I totally get that, but we don't stay at deluxe resorts. We're staying at Pop Century for 8 nights and upgraded the dining plan. It's a much better deal for us.

Book a signature restaurant or Fantasmic dinner package to use 2 TS at once.

I tried that too. I really don't care for the food at Poly, so that show is out. I considered Hoop Dee Do Review, but I've seen it before. I may still go that route. Just haven't decided for sure. I hate using two table service credits for one meal. I have a hard time with that. Right now, I have breakfast and dinner booked for one day, but we're going to be stuffed!

I also considered telling my sister to book a breakfast on a day we have a dinner or vice versa and just letting her take my KTTW to pay for it. I can't imagine there'd be a problem with that since it would look no different than if I took one of my kids to breakfast and then dinner later.

I'll get it figured out eventually! I'm also hearing stories from as recent as last December of people paying for the family sitting behind them with their leftover credits, so I think a lot of it is is YMMV.

The kids and I are very picky eaters which rules out a lot of the signature restaurants. I looked at the two you listed and neither would work for us. We do a lot of buffet breakfasts and places like Liberty Tree Tavern, 50's Prime Time Cafe, Hollywood and Vine, etc. The only non-traditional American food we do is Boma. So, we're pretty limited!

Le Cellier
Yachtman's Steakhouse
Mickey's Backyard BBQ
Cinderella's Royal Table
Narcoossee's

All have chicken and steak dishes (except the BBQ) and all can be ordered more or less "plain".

I'm not sure as to what the OP means by "non-traditional American food", but she could also check the menus at these signature restaurants in order to use her credits:
  • Citrico's
  • Artist's Point
  • California Grill
  • Flying Fish Cafe
  • The Dining Room at Wolfgang Puck
  • Fulton's Crab House
There should be something at one of those restaurants that her family will eat.

Closing this thread, as it is the policy on the restaurant boards not to discuss using DDP credits to buy meals for persons not on your dining plan, since this is the written policy given by WDW.

Per restaurant board policy, all posts that discuss doing this have been deleted.
