11 night stay but resort is not available on Night 8 -- WWYD? Need ideas.

We are looking at BCV for an 11 night stay but there are no villas available on night 8 (all other nights are available). So far these are the ideas I've come up with:

* Book regular Beach Club room for the 8th night. Move back to a villa next night. (bad part is this is three separate bookings--yikes) Hope that maybe a spot opens up and we get to keep our villa for that night and don't have to move anywhere (probably major wishful thinking there).

* Book regular Beach Club room for nights 8-11. (2 bookings and we lose our villa but at least we get to stay at BC)

* Split stay at totally different resort for nights 8-11... suggestions?? Daughter wants to try POR royal rooms but I'm afraid that will be a huge step down after 7 nights at BCV... but maybe it would be okay?

* Forget Beach Club altogether and just find a villa or other resort we can stay at for all 11 nights, maybe OKW again, or SSR.

(Note: we are not DVC.)

What would you do?? We like the villas because we use the kitchen and the washing machine A LOT. I am torn about what to do and I feel like I might be overlooking some obvious solution.

While it would be ideal not to have to "step down" from a resort, it sounds like the Royal Rooms are fun and this would be an opportunity to try it without dedicating too many days to it. Then you will know for next time.
Sounds like you are in at least a 1 bedroom villa? since you mention laundry. Is there a Studio available for the one night, so you don't have to go too far?
I would check out other resorts and see what else interests you. If you want a Villa, try AKL for a total different theming? Or BLT or previously mentioned VWL? I would go for an area different from EPCOT if you do switch locations.

Yes, it's a one bedroom. No other sizes available for those dates. There are only three of us (one adult, two teens) but we just like the space--and the washing machine, LOL. So no biggie if we have to stay in a regular room.

And yes we are strongly considering POR Royal room.

I'd find another resort for nights 8 to 11 and keep a watch out for the nights you want at BCV. I wouldn't move twice.

I haven't done it myself but I know it's kind of rule of thumb in the split stay world to stay at the "lesser" resort first and build up to the better resort. You'd be doing the opposite by going to a royal room. Frankly, I think there would be disappointment and some regret if you ended your trip like that. The royal rooms are decorated with subtle princess flair and I have read that kids are intrigued for a few minutes and then they're over it. I feel like it would be anti-climactic coming from BCV as well.

Personally, I would probably book a standard room at BC for night 8 and then do BCV again for the remainder. If you notate your reservation that you'd prefer to stay in the villa if one becomes available, and you mention it again at check-in, they may be able to keep you in it. You just have to make it known that that's what you'd like to do. In the mean time, keep checking availability - especially as you near the 45 day mark when people have to make their cancellations (without penalty) by. I'd think your chances are fair that you'd be able to stay in the villa and worst case, you'd just have to move to a new room for the one night.

Although it would be annoying to pack up everything, bell services can store anything you won't need for that night and just bring it to your villa the next day. Essentially, you could just pack an overnight bag for the night without having to lug everything to the new room. Just a thought!

Sometimes DVC rooms are available to members through DVC Member Services when they are not available to the public through Central Reservations Office (and vice versa). Separate inventory.

Have you considered renting through a company like David's DVC rentals? They act as middle man for members who have extra points, so they use DVC inventory.

11 nights is a long stay, so I'm not optimistic that there would be availability, but it's an option, and it probably would be cheaper if available.

I think I read somewhere that BCV was the only place that was available for most of your dates. If I read wrong, I would look at Villas at BWI. They are in the same location and just as nice. If I read it right, I would do a split stay with the Royal Suites. Really, if you go into this expecting to experience something totally different from your first resort you shouldn't be let down. IMHO I would find a place to stay that would encompass the entire stay. I don't think I would have the patience to pack up and move.

BC may be a 'grander' hotel, but POR / grounds/ recreation is beautiful!) that could accommodate nights 8 - 11 so that you can relax rather than make moving one of your "adventures". I hope it goes well, no matter what!

I respectfully disagree that it would be a time eater. Especially not if you stay at Beach Club for both moves. You would need to pack up, have bell services take your belongings and store them and then have them dropped off to your new rooms. I guess the most time consuming part would be packing but if you keep things relatively organized and don't unpack everything, that shouldn't take long either.

So, nansmama, did you book your stay with DVC points? Or did you book with cash from Disney Reservation Center? You won't be able to link a cash stay through DRC with a points stay through DVC. So you will have to check out and check in again and you might have to move.

I wouldn't book a hotel stay after a stay in a one bedroom villa. You'd lose the king sized bed, you'd lose the full kitchen, you'd lose the washer and dryer. Now if you had a studio, the hotel room would be better.

If I had to move for one night, than I would just go ahead and move to another resort. If we had to go to the trouble of packing, then I would just go and experience a whole new resort. They all seem so wonderful, why not just go for it and do a "split stay" say a AKV if available, or BLT. I would not want to move twice, that is for sure. I hate packing and unpacking.

I would move to a MK resort for the last 3 nights. The least expensive would be WL, and that would not be a step down like POR.

I just wanted to thank everyone for the advice and ideas. I'm finding it all helpful. Still thinking on what we want to do. Tonight I tried to reserve at least our first 7 nights at BCV but the system hung on me, so now I have to wait just to make sure I don't get charged before I try to book again. I tried to call but they don't deal with reservations after 11PM and I was on hold until after then, oops. Not having great luck with this vacay so far, LOL.

I would either move someplace new on those last nights or find a whole new place.

Love both OKW and SSR.

I also love POR, in fact its my favorite resort and to me its not at a downgrade from a deluxe. However, a one bedroom to any hotel room is a big difference. So I'd stick with a one bedroom but I would not do more than one move.

I would second the idea of checking into BWV. I've stayed at both BCV and BWV, and they are very similar in decor and size. I actually prefer the BWV location because the transportation is right at the resort (instead of having to walk to YC to get to the studios), and you are still walking distance to both parks if you would rather not take the boat. You also have a chance at a half decent view at BWV (there are no good views at BCV, in my opinion).

I usually just stay in whichever one of them I can get into for the best price - that's how similar they are.

If you have to go to the trouble of packing up and moving I would definitely recommend trying out a different area. You could get a 1 bedroom at BLT or WLV or try ALK. We are splitting our next stay between Poly and BC to take advantage of two great locations.
