Purchasing direct: which resorts are they selling?

I am confused. on the DVC sales website there is a FAQ section. One of the questions is: "Which resorts are currently available for purchase?". the answer lists: AKV, AUL, and BLT.

I thought BLT was considered "sold out" and not being currently marketed thru Disney. Can someone explain? Am on day 22 of ROFR awaiting my first contract (BLT).

all of them.

seriously, DVC is constantly picking up pts from OKW, BCV and so on - "sold out" or not - by means of foreclosures and ROFR on resales. there are waitlists for some resorts and some UY months, but DVC is always selling all the resorts...they just will not offer incentives on "sold out" resorts and i suspect the "guides" are compensated differently, such that they are motivated to push buyers toward newer resorts.

but if you want BLT and are determined to pay extra by buying direct, the worst case is that they will put you on a waitlist and sell you a BLT contract in a few months.

(edited to add: i'm sure the website is just out of date - and BLT is officially considered "sold out." disney's computer people are not always that on-the-ball.)

AKV & Aulani are the only resorts that they are currently offering incentives for, but you can purchase any resort direct if they have points available.

VGF is currently only on sale to existing members and will be on sale to the general public on 6/19.

Disney continues to reacquire points at all "sold out" DVCs on a regular basis through ROFR. However, waiting lists for points at BCV, BWV, and VWL are reportedly pretty long right now which means if you want to buy direct at one of those, it could be a long wait.

In addition, Disney continues to foreclose on a fairly regular basis at AKV, BLT, and SSR. Points at BLT and especially SSR should be available relatively quickly.

6 months ago you could have purchased direct at pretty much any resort and received your points almost immediately. However, the market has completely changed in the last 3 months. It's now a sellers market.

I understand that any resort can be purchased thru Disney based on point availability and that they constantly reaquire points. I guess it just surprised me that BLT was on the list of the properties currently being "marketed" for lack of a better word by Disney.

You really shouldn't be at all surprised that information provided by a timeshare company, Disney or otherwise, would be incomplete, outdated, or potentially misleading. It's the nature of the beast.

They are selling all of the resorts but they take steps to get you to buy their actively marketed resorts (new) where they make the most profit.
