PLEASE! Whistle while you work …… Update Day 6 - 06/16

Michelle, if you get there right before they open you should have a good chance of getting in. I am sure Angie would love it there. And the food they serve (they bring it to your table!) is pretty good. :goodvibes
I can't wait to see you again in 71 days. Ten weeks from tomorrow!!! :woohoo:
[/QUOTE]
I really hope to get there soon and I can not wait to see ya real soon!!!!

Do I detect that there might be a change to the WPE dinner plans?

How lovely to walk back to the MK one more time and just in time for the parade!~ :thumbsup2

We have missed the afternoon parade the last few trips. We need to get that in again.

We were prepared there would be some crowds from former trips. :rotfl2: And fled once they got too much. :lmao:
We actually were already in Frankfurt on February 24. Otherwise we would have been there to cheer you on. ;):

NOW I remember! I guess I saw the 2/24 and realized it was your last day in MK and thought it was your last last day.

Ann, I am sure you could do the non spinning MS. If you can do Star Tours, you can do that. It really is an awesome ride.

You almost have me convinced. ;)

To be honest I am used to "unruly" kids, but these two were just a bit too much for my liking. :lmao: I would have needed to say something to them and I did not to do that on my last vacation day. :rotfl2:

It makes you wonder where their adults were? I am known to let my kids wander off. (well, not Zoe...but older ones) If I ever found out they acted like that.

As for the Lufthansa message - as scary (because of the snow) as it was, it on the other hand was a blessing as we got to spend another hour at WDW, instead of MCO. :rotfl2:

Yay! for more disney time!!! Even though, it is sad to say good bye to MK. I think it helps to soften the blow when you still have something like a lunch in DTD to look forward to. You have me popcorn:: wondering just where that lunch ended up being.

Great Updates Karin !! You just LOVE yout KK don't you!!!How neat to find the new Publix !!! I have to admit we enjoyed having the car when we went to Universal in April!! One good thing with my P &P trips we get the GAC cards and so don't have long waits !! I can't wait to get back there in October and then again in December !!!

Nice Little mermaid pics.
BOG looked good. I am still trying to get reservations for December.
I have to be in the mood for Krispy Kreme, I find them so sweet. Funny the new Publix was basically across the street.
30 minutes for SE is not good.
The Art of Disney is so nice. I could go broke in there.
Overly excited kids are not so great to be around. You are brave doing the orange side.
Plane delays stink.
Loved the parade pics.
All caught up again.

Scott, my DH is the same way..he'll take D&D anyday...me addicted!!!!

Karin Ithink I'm caught up again :lmao: I also love the little carrot cakes. I had a stockpile when we did free dining in 2009 :rolleyes1

I really hope to get there soon and I can not wait to see ya real soon!!!!

We cannot wait either! :cool1: Less than 9 weeks, Michelle! :cloud9:

:scratchin ...... me and changing a WPE meal? ...... well, who knows. :rotfl2:
It was nice to walk right "into" the parade. It gets you in such high spirits and we left the MK with a smile on our faces, even though we knew it would be another 6 months until we were to return. ;)

We have missed the afternoon parade the last few trips. We need to get that in again.

I really like the Disney parades, but we have missed it a few times too, lately. It was just so nice to have it right there, while we were on our way out. :goodvibes

We were happy with another hour in the MK. Thankfully they DID inform us in time, so we were not stuck at the airport with another hour to spare. :thumbsup2

Another long day!!! But at least I am caught up here !!! I have so much planning to do for Vermont , it is really a busy trip, but I am soo excited to see all we will be seeing !!

I've been out of touch lately, but caught up now. BoG looks so pretty Wish we could have eaten there in Dec. Beautiful sunrise. We always take a late flight home so it gives us more Disney time. At least you found out your flight was delayed before going to the airport, and not such bad news....more time in the parks! Mk is also our last day so we can wave to the castle. At least you know you will be going back. I still can't believe we are not going back this year. :(

Thank you, Rosie!
Yip, we just love us some KK. Mostly because it is the only place we can get our hands on some. :rotfl2:
Good for your group to have a GAC. Long lines to wait in are NO fun. :lmao:

You really need to try and get a reservation at BoG or at least have lunch there. It is an experience in itself. :thumbsup2

Well, as much as I hate plane delays, but this one was not that bad. It gave us another hour in the park. :lmao:

I am glad you found the time to stop by, Elaine.
You really need to have a meal in the Beast's castle when you next go to WDW, it is so nice.

Day 8, February 23

“Your flights are delayed because of heavy snowfall!” - part 3

And after a bottle of cold water to cool us down we got into our car and headed towards Downtown Disney for an early dinner at Wolfgang Puck’s Express, or so we had planned.
Because, on the way to Downtown Disney we talked about the fact that we both were not all that hungry and why not just pick up some sandwiches to go, as the food on the flight would not be all that desirable anyway.
Good idea, but then another idea popped up in my head. We were driving past Old Key West and why not stop there and have the one treat I had not had so far and eating it at Old Key West would make it extra special. So, once we had passed Port Orleans we just turned right into Old Key West,

parked our car and headed right for the general store.
It was wonderful as we both feel so at home at that resort. We browsed the store and found a lot of cute things, but nothing we wanted to take home and then just picked up another bottle of water and a

Mickey bar. Purchases in hand we sat outside on one of the benches and I enjoyed my Mickey bar, when Tom mentioned if I had seen the OKW vinylmation.
No, I had not, but it was something that peaked both our interest and Tom went back to get one. It indeed was DVC only and they had only gotten a small amount of them. It is a cute thing and even for someone who does not collect them, this is indeed a collector’s item (as well as the NY ones we got from friends!).
When I had finished my Mickey bar we walked back to the car, sadly said goodbye to Old Key West and vowed to be back in less than 180 days, got into the car and off we went to Downtown Disney. To say the parking lot was full would be an understatement, but after two rounds we found someone who was just exiting and we quickly slipped into their parking spot. This last trip to Downtown Disney always is a bag of mixed feelings. On the one hand there is the yummy food we are looking forward to and on the other hand there is the thought of having to fly home. Now that time it was no different.
We headed towards Wolfgang Puck’s Express and ordered our sandwiches, then sat down at one of the tables overlooking the kitchen and watching the cooks work. It did not take long and our order was ready and delivered to our table. And one last visit to Ghirardelli’s for a chocolate sample and to pick up some chocolates. Well there was only one cash register open and the line was long, so we put the chocolate back and headed towards our car. Dinner got put in the car and off we went. There was a bit of a traffic jam going down Hotel Boulevard, but once we got onto the motorway the traffic got lighter and lighter and we were at the airport in no time.
We returned our car, grabbed our stuff and went over to the airport. We reached the terminal at an entrance very close to Lufthansa, went over, and were first in line immediately. We dropped our luggage off and were handed our paper tickets as we had checked in online, but did not have a chance to print out the tickets. Then we still had a lot of time until our flight was to take off. First we went to a seating area and rearranged our carry ons.
Then we strolled through the shops and all the way down to the Earport. We went through the store, then walked back to the foodcourt, got some drinks and had a nice early dinner. We both enjoyed

the Chicken Aioli Sandwich, mozzarella, romaine, tomatoes, red onions and cilantro aioli and the

Pesto Chicken Salad Sandwich, romaine, red onions and plum tomatoes which we shared. Then it was time to get in line for security and we were positively surprised to see that there was just a very short line. Our carry ons were scanned and we were off to the fake Monorail. It did not take long and we got off again. We stopped at one of the stores and bought a bottle of water and some sweets and finally headed to our gate, which was at the end of the hallway.
Usually it is pretty full down there as Virgin Atlantic departs at around the same time, but this time they were long gone and there was lots of seating space. It took longer than expected until we were allowed to board, but we were lucky and within the first people to get on. Luggage stowed we sat back and watched people streaming into the cabin. The flight attendants had a few problems to solve as there were several families who had not done on line check in or reserved seats ahead of time and were now seated all over the plane. I guess they did work it out, because in the end most of the people were at least seated somewhere. We rolled out onto the runway a little more than an hour later than we should have and were off soon. We were both tired and after we had been handed a drink and a snack,

some crackers, we took our sleeping aid and drifted right off to sleep. I woke up several times during the night, just to check the monitor in front of me for flight progress and then went right back to sleep.

To be continued ...........

Day 8, February 23

whislewhile1_zpsc8f5574a.jpg

“It is still so cold here!”

We both woke up when breakfast service was nearly over and we got ourselves ready to get off.
When we landed we were surprised to see a lot of snow on the ground. Once we were in the terminal we went through passport control and then through security again and up to our next departure gate. We were sitting there for about 10 minutes when we learned that this flight was delayed as well.
And since we had not had anything to eat until then, we headed down to a small snack bar and got

a hot prosciutto and cheese sandwich and some Diet Coke.
Once we had finished our snack, we walked back to our gate, sat down and stood right up again as they had just opened boarding. So we walked down two flights of stairs, got onto a bus and were driven out to our aircraft, which was parked at an outside location.
We had to wait on the bus for a few minutes, then got on board, and it did not take long until we took off again. We were offered some soft drinks, coffee and tea, and everyone was handed

a Lion bar, which we tasted, but neither of us liked it very much, so most of it went in the bin. Once we had arrived at our little airport, we got off and were instantly hit by the cold weather and all the snow, and after retrieving our luggage we paid for parking and headed out to the parking lot, scraped the ice off the car windows and off we went.
We stopped at a gas station to pick up some food and then went to pick up Pixie, who had done well at her new home. About 2 hours after we had landed we had made it home, had some early dinner, unpacked and were back to real life.

Oh no! Another trip over...thankfully there is another one coming up soon! I do love OKW...it is probably my second favorite DVC property aft AKV. Glad you had a safe flight home..too bad the snow caused so many delays!

Jill in CO

Oh my, "back to real life", did you have any time to acclimate before having to go back to work? Thanks much for sharing!

Kate

Fake monorail :-) okay Karin it is Aug next, correct? Hooray for another fabulous trip report

Well done, another great trip, along with an excellent TR! I wish I could sleep on a flight but I need to be awake to keep it flying! LOL!

With TRs like you do it seems like there is a short time between visits to WDW.

I'm looking forward to your summer vacation which will probably start in September.

Another great trip for you and Tom, and another great trip report. Scott brought us back those Old Key West DVC vinyls...love them!!

Yes, another trip over, but another one is just lurking around the corner. :rotfl2: (..... and I still haven't finished last year's summer trip report :lmao:)

We both have such a soft spot for OKW. It just doesn't feel like a hotel, more like you are living in a quiet little village. :thumbsup2

The delays weren't all that bad, especially since we knew about the Orlando one beforehand and could fit in a little more park time. :woohoo:

Kate

Time to acclimate? We were both back to work the very next day. :rotfl2: The hardest thing was to get used to the cold and the snow again. :sad2: But at least we had a few more other trips to look forward to! :thumbsup2

Next trip is August, YES! Only 7 more weeks to count down as of tomorrow. :woohoo:
Thanks for sticking with me for this TR!

Doris, thank you for reading and putting up with how long it takes me to finish off those TRs. :scared1:

We're leaving for our next vacation in just 7 more weeks. It's a 33 day trip this time, so I guess this will be another LONG TR. :rotfl2:

Another great trip for you and Tom, and another great trip report. Scott brought us back those Old Key West DVC vinyls...love them!!

It was another fun trip and meeting some DISfriends made it even more wonderful. :thumbsup2
These OKW vinyls are cute, aren't they? :goodvibes

I hate getting back to real life. It' so .....real.

Great wrap up to the trip. you always make your flights sound like they go so fast. I wish that was really the case.
