Me, my DH and DD have booked a cruise for the end of may out of PC on the Dream :dance3: and im trying to understand were we are located. We booked a GTY of 7A does anyone have experience with this type of room?

GTY 7A means that the cruise line will assign your room and it will be the category 7A or better... could be anywhere on the ship and you may not get your assignment until you are actually checking in at the pier.

Me & DH have a 9A GTY booked for our May 30th cruise on the Dream. It simply means that you are guaranteed ATLEAST a 7A. You could get the 7A that you paid for or you could get upgraded. We are still waiting for our room assignment. :)

You could be anywhere on the ship that has 7A rooms. The "GTY" means that enough 7A staterooms have already been booked that DCL won't allow you to pick the exact stateroom - you are allowing DCL to do so for you. There is a possibility of an upgrade, but you're guaranteed at least a 7A stateroom. It looks like there are a few 7As on each deck 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, forward or aft but not mid-ship.

Enjoy your cruise!

as PP stated, it could be the day of the cruise before you find out. But normally not. They will want to mail luggage tags to you to place on your luggage. Figure 2-3 weeks out, but like previously stated it could be up to the date of the sailing. They want to finalize their rosters also.

Enjoy the cruise in any case.

your not kidding i got up to go pee and i come back and here are all these answers!!!:woohoo: I understand the GTY part but when im on looking at different cat i can not find 7a by any means i know our family will have a great time it DISNEY right!

I have noticed that sometimes they will not have the lower end of a teir group on sell. Like the 7A or 6A, (my thought only) they can use those as pixie-dust if they feel the cruise will not fill well. Moving up folks to the next category to make room for cheaper rooms to help fill their ships.

If I'm reading the deck plans right, it looks like staterooms 5524, 5024, 5180, 5188, 5680, 5688, 6178, 6678, 7520, 7022, 7170, 7182, 7668, 7680, 8520, 8022, 8662, 8674, 8164, 8176, 9012, 9512, 9152, 9164, 9652, 9664

7A rooms are on Decks 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9. So if you get 7A and aren't upgraded, then you'll be on one of those decks.

The numbers lanejudy posted (5524, 5024, 5180, 5188, 5680, 5688, 6178, 6678, 7520, 7022, 7170, 7182, 7668, 7680, 8520, 8022, 8662, 8674, 8164, 8176, 9012, 9512, 9152, 9164, 9652, 96640) look right. So it's likely you'll be in one of those rooms!

If you get a 7A room, your room will most likely have a verandah with an obscured view, but there is also a chance you could get a room with an undersized verandah.

We booked 7A GTY on the Fantasy and were given room 5688. (Rooms are the same on the Dream) We had one of those "undersized verandah" rooms!

Here are some photos of our verandah:

Even though our verandah was small, the views we had were amazing!!!

First time cruiser with a "silly" question. I've seen posts regarding classic ships versus newer ships. What are the differences? Which are which? We're sailing on the Dream...short cruise to determine if we like cruising or not.
Thanks for any info. you can share!:wave2:

Dream and Fantasy are newer. And much bigger.

Magic and Wonder are "classic".
