I don't understand it. I'm a Mom of three boys, all in their twenties now. They grew up going to Disneyworld and one thing we always stressed to them, is to be quiet leaving our room and NEVER run where people are possibly asleep. So why, why do soooo many parents allow this behavior on the ship? Don't they get that people are asleep at every hour of the day on the ship, late into the mornings, naps in the afternoons and obviously at night? Somebody please explain this to me.

I can't explain it, beyond saying that some parents don't think. My kids never ran through the halls, in hotels, or apartment buildings we've lived in. Maybe these parents have no experience with this situation. Or just don't care. :confused3

Sorry, it happened to you.

I Agree 100 percent here and this is a sore subject with me. Call me old school or whatever but a kid should never be running indoor anywhere in my opinion there is no parenting to these kids who run aroun I agree kids will be kids but there should be some respect there somewhere

I had the same thought when several boys were ringing our doorbell & then running away to hide behind the chairs in the elevator lobby on our recent Magic cruise. After about the third time, I sat there & watched them do it through our peep hole and they are lucky that they chose to run down the stairs that time because I was about to come out and have words with them.

Something else that annoyed me was the kids who would run up the stairs. Almost every night, I had to come to a stop or swerve to avoid kids who were having races up the stairs. Sometimes with their parents!

I agree with you. And it IS the fault of the parents, not the kids.

My own kids know they need to be respectful & quiet, in our room & in halls, since you never know which rooms might have someone sleeping. My DB's kids (which we travel with at least 1/year) do not have the same rules... but they know when Auntie is in charge, there are NO excuses for being loud/disrespectful. Funny how kids know which rules apply depending on who's around.

In addition to the running, I would add carrying on conversations after say about 10PM in a loud voice. I hear parents and children doing this not just on the cruise but at pretty much any hotel I've ever stayed.

I do have to admit I have done some of these things myself and I was raised right but I assure you if I was seen doin any of these things I woul be in trouble... Like I said kids will be kids but there is a line to be drawn... An I myself act as a kid at times on vacation but not to the point I disrespect someone else... A I had mentioned earlier this is a sore subject for me

I'm in full agreement with you and it really hits a nerve with me. Another thing is slamming of the doors at all hours on the ship or hotels. You don't have to slam the door. Just close it! Kids will be kids doesn't work with me. It takes the parent to teach the kids to respect others around them.

So your saying kids will be kids is no true?? If u notice I said kids will be kids but there has to be a line drawn... My kids are 100 percent kids but I can assure you they know when and where to be kids they do have respect!!

Because they are on v.a.c.a.t.i.o.n and it's Disney, so kids sould be able to run amuck and do whatever they want too. :rolleyes1

That doesn't mean be disrespectful.... Having fun and being disrespectful are two different things

I would be carefully because you never know what your kids are doing when you are not there. You know how you raised them but you cannot be sure they do it when you are not there. The only exception is if you installed a spy chip in them :)

I agree with this too but I do not let my kid away from me on a family vacation!!! This is why I am on a family vacation.... And a little FYI my kids are not perfect by any means but I always am told how nice and polite and respectful they are

Drove me nuts, since it happened most often on our Disney cruise BEFORE 6 am on a sea day. :( :scared1: It's bad parenting. :badpc:

My son and I had a conversation at dinner tonight reminding him of how he needs to have his best table manners when we go on our cruise (next week) and he replied "mom, I'll have MUCH better manners on the boat!" Kids.....

Just tell him when he gets together in groups with the kids he meets on board, don't go along with them running in the hallways, and yelling. We will all thank you for it:worship:.

He's 9 so he will be with us or in the clubs. No "mob mentality" for him...yet...
