PLEASE! Whistle while you work …… Update Day 6 - 06/16

Be our guest looks scrumptious Karin!! Alas my finicky crew wouldnt last the wait for lunch....perhaps as they get older theyll be patient..meanwhile I live vicariously through my friend......lol

BOG looks amazing!! It does appear to be a bit scary for little ones, but most are probably fine. I am not sure about gargoyles in Fastasyland. lol

So happy you enjoyed your lunch - maybe the next dessert will be yummy!!

What fun to sort of have wandered in without a plan!

Karin, I'm not posting any where on the DIS much anymore, but I am still reading. And I just had to say I love your pictures from BOG. I can't wait to be there one week from tomorrow for my second dinner.

The food at BOG looked good. I couldn't get dinner reservations for our trip in Sept. I hope we can have lunch there, not sure it will be possible.

Teresa, I heard they DO take walk ups, so you might be able to get in after all, and if not, lunch was really nice! :thumbsup2

Jeanette, there is lots to look at and dining inside that ballroom makes the wait worth while. ;)
The food was really good, apart from the soggy cream puff. ;)

It really is impressive. Disney did a really good job with it. There is LOTS to see while in line and once you have placed your order and found a table it does not take long until your food is delivered to your table.
There are lots of gargoyles in France, so we are used to them.

It was fun to just wander around with no plan to stick to - not that I stick to the plans I have made otherwise. :rotfl2:

Kathy, I do understand you're not posting much. But I am glad you are still here to read. :thumbsup2
The girls will love having dinner at BoG! It is really a beautiful setting. :thumbsup2

I'm hoping we get to snag an ADR at BOG for our December trip but if we can't I would be more than happy with lunch :)

Linda, I booked our dinner at BoG at 180 days for our summer vacation and at one time held three different ones for different days, as I could not make my mind up on WHEN to eat there.
I let go of two of them and then needed one for 6 of us and I could not get anything (still trying :lmao:). So, you should be fine if you book once your window opens.
If not ...... the options for lunch are really good (just don't think about the wait :lmao:).

Who needs plans, we go with the flow! - part 4

Once we were done with lunch we walked around the restaurant taking pictures and discovered that there were two more dining rooms to the side.

They all were beautiful and it will be nice to see how a dinner service works there.

We had finished our dinner just in time for the time on our fast pass to expire. But since we were almost opposite, we thought to track over and ask if there was any chance they would still let us ride. I asked the cast member very nicely if there was a chance they would honour the already expired fast pass and he just smiled and said that it had “just” expired, so there was no problem with us riding. We got in line and walked right onto the ride. It was so fun to see cast members going the extra mile and making things special as there was a female cast member, who blew kisses at the safetly bar for it to close.

It was so cute to watch the children’s faces, when she blew her kiss and the safety bar would lower. We got into our ship, the safety bar was lowered magically and off we went. Not very far though, as the ride stopped and we sat there right above London for a minute or two. The ride stopped two more times, but even with the interruptions it was fun to be on.

Once we got off we decided to head over to the Haunted Mansion but they had a 30 minute line and we didn’t feel like that. Seeing that the line for the Haunted Mansion was pretty long we were pretty sure that we were out of luck for most rides and when we saw that the line for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad was already starting on the outside we knew we did not want to get in that line. What about Pirates? Another half hour wait and we knew there was one more ride we had not done and we could easily get on, the People Mover.
Yes, you guessed it, even the People Mover had quite a bit of a line, but it moved pretty quickly and we got on and enjoyed our ride above Tomorrowland. By then the park was packed and we decided that we were done and wanted to head back to do some packing as there were Extra Magic Hours at Epcot in the evening.
So we headed towards the exit and instead of walking back to Bay Lake Tower we walked over to the Resort Monorail. One had just left the station so we strolled up the ramp and when we got there another Monorail was just pulling in. We got on, even got a seat and rode it back to the Contemporary. Needless to say that once we were there we had to pop into the shops again, to see if they had anything new we wanted and around 2pm we were back in our room. We both grabbed a drink out of the fridge and sat out on the balcony enjoying the day.
After a while Tom took photos of the last ones of our Fish Extender gifts, which we had not had time to take pics beforehand of and I started to pack away thing. We also had to repack our Owner’s Locker box and Tom made a list of the things we put in it, so we were not as clueless as this year to what was waiting for us inside. Around 4pm we were almost done and discussed what to do with the rest of the evening. None of us really felt like heading to Epcot for dinner at Rose and Crown, so we cancelled to reservation and instead headed back to the parking lot, got into our car and drove over to Downtown Disney to do a little more browsing.
We spent quite some time there and then came up with the fun idea of why not drive by Krispy Kreme to find out if their Hot Now sign was on. Well, it was not and we stopped briefly to discuss if we should wait or not. But then we remembered that we needed some things from Walgreens anyway, so why not just find one, get what we needed and drive past Krispy Kreme once again. Right around that time we decided that we would just skip Extra Magic Hours at Epcot and enjoy the time we had left at the resort.
Tom programmed the closest Walgreens into the GPS and off we went. We found what we needed, browsed a few isles that had Disney stuff and finally went to the cash desk. Purchases paid we headed back to the car. It was now past 6pm and we our next stop was Krispy Kreme. Still the light was not on and we just settled on the idea of picking a few glazed doughnuts and some speciality ones.
When we walked inside the store we were surprised to see quite a few people in there waiting. The conveyer belt was running, but no fresh doughnuts on it. When it was our turn to order the sales person asked if we would care to wait for another five minutes, like the rest of the people, to get some doughnuts of the fresh hot batch they were making, or if we wanted “older” ones. Well, we indeed wanted to wait and joined the rest of the people who were sitting at the small tables to the side. It didn’t take 5 minutes and the first fresh doughnuts started to run towards their glazing bath. Since the place was pretty full and everyone was waiting, we had just stepped aside from the line and were waiting right to the side of the sales desk. And when the first doughnuts had gone through their glazing bath and people were getting in line to pick up their order one of the sales people there was picking up doughnuts and handed them out to the waiting people.
We were all stunned and very happy to have a hot, soft and delicious treat in our hands. Everyone munched away and I am pretty sure, many people then ordered more than what they had actually intended on, at least we did. We ordered

some coffee and some Diet Coke as well and sat at a table and munched another one of the hot delicious dough creations.

And now that the Hot Now sign was finally on, people started to stream into the shop. After finishing our drinks we headed back to the car and drove back to our hotel. Tom programmed the GPS and at a corner where we usually had turned right and went past our old Publix, the GPS sent us straight ahead. We were in no hurry and just followed directions and were stunned. Right a few meters after the crossing there was a sign to a new Publix and there it was, a huge new store, not more than across the road from the old one. Good to know for the next visit, but we didn’t need anything else that day, so we headed on and a few minutes later went under the well known Walt Disney World arch.

Another 10 minutes later we drove into the Bay Lake Tower parking lot, parked the car and headed inside the building. We spoke about picking up dinner from the Contempo Café, but there were still a lot of leftovers in the fridge and so we just loaded the table in our room with them, then grabbed some drinks and nibbled away, while watching some TV. It was so relaxing not to have to head somewhere, we both enjoyed the downtime so much. There were still a few more things to pack away now that we had done some more shopping, so after dinner we finished off packing, then sat out on the balcony for a while, watching the Water Pageant go by and then went to bed really early, still watching a little TV, but we had to turn it off rather soon as we kept falling asleep.

To be continued ...........

Well now I want a donut ...thank you! :rotfl:

It sounds like a perfect night for the 2 of you. and you got your last fill of donuts too.

To be honest, Jen, I could do with a doughnut myself, right now! :rotfl2:

It was such a wonderful and relaxed evening, even though we skipped the EMHs at Epcot. :scared1:

Yeah - a donut sounds pretty good right about now! :rotfl:

Love the rest of your pictures of BOG. I can see I am going to have to have the camera really ready to go when I eat there. :thumbsup2

Cool pictures inside Peter Pan! Love that ride!

Can't wait for our next KK experience. ;) :lmao: These things definitely give you an addiction. :rotfl2:

BoG surely is a beautiful restaurant. Just take the time to check out all the different dining rooms.

Now you another person hungering for a KK, I can almost smell them.

BOG is such a neat restaurant, I've got to check it out on our Sept. trip.

So sorry to make you hungry, Doris. ;) :lmao:

BoG is really nice. The theming in there is outstanding. They did an awesome job. Do you want to have dinner or lunch there. Dinner reservations are REALLY hard to come by, but lunch is pretty easy, not counting the wait time. :thumbsup2

Day 8, February 23

“Your flights are delayed because of heavy snowfall!” - part 1

We were up early again, early enough to see the sun come up.

Tom made some coffee and we had some of the Krispy Kreme doughnuts for breakfast, before we had a shower and got ready. We checked everywhere for forgotten items, closed the Owner’s Locker and finally called bell services to pick up our luggage. Shortly before 9am they came, promised to hold our luggage until we would arrive later that day and send our Owner’s Locker box back to the warehouse. Once luggage was dealt with we took one more biological break, then headed out the door.
When we put our hand luggage in the car that was the moment I remembered something. Where were our jackets? They were still in the closet in the room. So back I went to fetch the jackets and now everything was put in the car. Then we walked back to the Contemporary

and up to the Monorail track and off we went to the Ticket and Transportation Center.

When we changed from the resort Monorail to the Epcot one you could see that they were expecting a lot of guests that day, as they had lines put up criss crossing the area in front of the Express Monorail entrance. We instead got on the Epcot one, which was not too full at all, we even found seats and off we went. We had not been on the Epcot Monorail in quite some time, so it was a nice treat.
When we arrived at the Epcot station we realized that we were pretty lucky, as our door opened right in front of the exit and we were within the first people to head down to the Security check. Being some of the first people off was really awesome as we only had one person ahead of us at the security gate and then joined a short line at the turnstiles. Unfortunately as short as it was it turned out to be a longer line as the people ahead of us had two strollers and no one knew which ticket belonged to whom and it took a lot of time for them to get organized and go through the turnstiles. But finally it was our turn and we were on our way into the park, to be greeted by a 30 minute line for Spaceship Earth.

The line snaked around both side areas and as much as we like the ride we were not interested in a 30 minute wait for it. So instead we turned to the right and headed over to the Art shop.
We love the art shops and had skipped the one at Downtown Disney, so this was a nice treat. We stayed for quite some time, taking in the different pieces of art and commenting and rating them. Once we were done we headed towards Test Track and Mission Space.

The regular line for Test Track was over an hour and since the Single Rider line was only 20 minutes we got in that line.

We walked up quite a way until we came to a halt, so missed out on seeing some of the newly renovated part of the line. We waited for about 5 minutes until our line moved again and within 10 minutes we had made it to the loading area. There were lots of single riders, but the line moved constantly and we quickly got to the front of the line.

We were seated and went on our trip and I have to say that I was not particularly fond of the old ride, but I was not impressed with the new ride either and was happy we hadn’t wasted an hour waiting in line. Our next stop was over at Mission Space. Orange Team had a 20 minute wait.
Yeah, good, we got in line. It really did take about 20 minutes until we were finally divided into teams and went off on our space adventure. Tom and I both love this ride and when we got off and saw that the wait time was now down to 15 minutes we decided to get in line again. And while we walked up to the orange line we were surpassed by two very excited young boys, who were then in line ahead of us. They kept pushing each other and shouting out, so people all around were looking at them. Even though we were next in line after them we kept a bit of a distance as they really started to annoy me. Excited kids are cute, but over excited and pushing and shouting ones not so much.
When we finally got up to the cast member who is in charge of organizing the teams I could see that we would indeed be travelling with my “excited” little friends. So when the cast member directed us over to them I asked if we could ride with someone else as they were really a bit too much for me. Thankfully Disney is so accommodating we went on the opposite side and had a team of adults to ride with.
Again, another really fun ride, but even with hypersleep it was far too short. When we left we realized that it was already going towards noon and keeping the masses that were in the park in mind we decided against trying to eat at the Epcot counter service options and head back to the Contemporary Resort and the Magic Kingdom.
But we could not leave Epcot without a visit to Mousegear. So in we went and it took us quite some time until we left the shop again. We slowly strolled towards the exit, walked over to the Monorail tracks to see that there were already quite a few people waiting and we joined them. It did not take long and another Monorail pulled in, people got off and we all got on and we even scored another seat. We enjoyed our ride back to the Ticket and Transportation Center and were shocked to see the lines that had been put up now actually full of people who wanted to get on the Express Monorail. We headed over to the Resort Monorail and while there were again quite a few people waiting we were able to get on the next one that took us back to the Contemporary Resort.
Since we were both hungry we decided to just go over to the Contempo Café for some lunch. And since we had enjoyed our first night’s dinner so much we went and got exactly the same for our last lunch.

We ordered

two Diet Cokes,

a Steakhouse Salad, marinated beef, mixed greens shaved red onions, goat cheese, and vine-ripe tomatoes with mustard dressing and

a Marinated Beef Flatbread and I picked up something I always love,

a Carrot Cake. We found seats towards the side of the restaurant and I took pictures of the Carrot Cake while Tom went to pick up the drinks. And right before he came back to the table the buzzer had gone off and he was on his way to pick up our lunch. We sat there and enjoyed the salad and flatbread and talked about the fun vacation we had had when suddenly Tom got a text message from Lufthansa.
Now, getting text messages from them usually doesn’t mean good news, so we were not really happy to receive it. Tom retrieved it and we were shocked to read that our flight home was delayed by an hour, more so it was delayed because of heavy snowfall in Frankfurt, which had delayed the flight that was coming in that evening.

To be continued ...........

I love spedning just a few more hours in disney before heading home. But the delay doesn't sound good. At least you found out before going to the airport.

Jen, the lucky thing is that our direct flight to Frankfurt only leaves between 8 and 9pm (depending on the season) so we more or less still have a day at Disney before flying home.
And getting that text was super convenient for us. It meant one more Disney hour as I will not sit around that airport any longer than absolutely neccessary. :rotfl2:

count me in on wanting one of those doughnuts too!

Sounds like 2/23 was quite the packed day in MK! At least you got to use your fp and enjoy the ride.

2/24... did you see any of the runners coming in? We ran through Epcot around spaceship earth. I think some finished as late as 9 or 10am. We entered near the front of the park, somehow wound around the fountain and then down past spaceship earth.

I must admit, I like the new version of TT. Not LOVE it... but definitely like it.

Never been on MS. I should do it some time... but I am always :scared:

The unruly kids sound irritating. Steve loves to tell the story of when a group similar to the ones you were mentioning came up behind he and Zoe. They were loud and obnoxious and using a few undisney like words. Out of no where a security person came up and grabbed them and told them to behave better.

Messages from home often are scary... and to find lots of snow awaited. :sad2:

Nice morning at Epcot and yay for back to back MS rides WITHOUT obnoxious kids! :rotfl2:

Yummy lunch!

I hope your flight is not delayed any more than an hour and you really get to enjoy your last Disney day!

We were prepared there would be some crowds from former trips. :rotfl2: And fled once they got too much. :lmao:
We actually were already in Frankfurt on February 24. Otherwise we would have been there to cheer you on. ;)
Ann, I am sure you could do the non spinning MS. If you can do Star Tours, you can do that. It really is an awesome ride.

To be honest I am used to "unruly" kids, but these two were just a bit too much for my liking. :lmao: I would have needed to say something to them and I did not to do that on my last vacation day. :rotfl2:

As for the Lufthansa message - as scary (because of the snow) as it was, it on the other hand was a blessing as we got to spend another hour at WDW, instead of MCO. :rotfl2:

Mary Ellen, getting rid of those kids was one of the highlights of that morning. :rotfl2:

We usually have a late lunch at WPE, but the flatbread and salad at Contempo were really drawing us in. ;)

The extra hour at WDW was really appreciated. ;) Better to spend it at WDW than the airport. :goodvibes

“Your flights are delayed because of heavy snowfall!” - part 2

Tom retrieved it and we were shocked to read that our flight home was delayed by an hour, more so it was delayed because of heavy snowfall in Frankfurt, which had delayed the flight that was coming in that evening.
And after we had found out that the news wasn’t all that bad, we finished our lunch, I enjoyed my carrot cake and then we headed over to the Magic Kingdom, as we always do.
It is kind of a tradition to spend the last few minutes of Walt Disney World park time at the Magic Kingdom and we did not want to break with that tradition. We used the skyway bridge to walk over to Bay Lake Tower

and from there strolled over to the Magic Kingdom,

which was crowded, but not really as full as I expected. We walked along Main Street,

took in the castle and walked towards Adventureland. And stopped in front of the Crystal Palace again to watch the castle show for a while.

Wait times were way beyond what we wanted to invest, so we continued to just stroll along and take in the sights and sounds of the park.

We stopped for a photo now and then before we finally made our way over to Tomorrowland to ride, what had become the last ceremonial ride of trip lately, the Peoplemover.
Not that it didn’t have a line,

but it moved quickly and we were soon seated on the ride and off we went.

It was the perfect ending to our wonderful vacation and once we got off we strolled back to Mainstreet where people were waiting for the afternoon parade. We stopped and watched the first few floats go by,

but then headed towards the exit. There was one more stop for us before we had to get on our way to the airport.
One last look back, a wave to the castle and we walked under the railway station, just to be stopped by a cast member doing some research.
Research done, we walked over to Bay Lake Tower, picked up our change of clothing and used the restrooms there to get changed. And after a bottle of cold water to cool us down we got into our car and headed towards Downtown Disney for an early dinner at Wolfgang Puck’s Express, or so we had planned.
