SHADES OF GREEN at Walt Disney World Resort Information & Questions

How does everyone here start and end their WDW vacation? When we first get there, we check in and head to DTD so we don't waste a partial day on our tickets. But our first full day is spent at Magic Kingdom and our last day is ended at Magic Kingdom at the fireworks. Then we wander the park until we are escorted out by security. Well, not really. But we do hang in the park until the very last minute and then VERY SLOWLY make our way down Main Street ... with me whining the entire way. Here is proof. We fly in and usually arrive around noon. We change from our frozen north clothes into park clothes, grab our tickets and go. We don't have a first day must do but it is a park for lunch. On our last day it is always Magic Kingdom until we have to get to the airport..

Does anyone know what the sponsored rate means? My father and I want to go in July, my husband who is the active duty will not be going. I have a dependent I.D. What I want to know is will the rate be the 95.00 or the 123.00? ( my husband falls under the E1-E5 rate.)

If I understand it right, your hubby's rate would be the $95, but if he isn't there, the sponsor's rate would be the $123. But you can call Shades to be sure.

Oh my goodness..thanks for the pics. I have only heard of SOG's past life as the 'Disney Inn', but I never knew what it looked like. I do recall those big old TV's in the armoires...they had identical ones at CBR. Thanks for sharing!

My husband and I ate there on our honeymoon. It was a nice quiet dinner - but I really don't remember much about it other than it was quiet and everything was green and pink. I have no idea what part of the current SOG it would have been - if it was where the garden gallery. But we remember talking about the place saying that it might be a nice place to stay without kids but it was SO expensive then. (or it seemed it for two young newly weds). Little did we know it would eventually become our place at Disney. It's fun that it retained it's quiet.

Yeah, there's not much out there for photos. When you were there pre-reno in 98 was the layout as it is now with the bus location down below and the lobby up above? I don't even remember that from when we ate there in 91, so I'm curious as to how it was set up back then. I didn't know if that was a change that happened in the 2002/2003 renovation.

Thank goodness, I thought we were the only ones who enjoyed the Evergreens of the past. They had this 'tower of onion rings' on a stick that my kids went crazy for...it was a big novelty back in the day. We used to order pizza and salad and bring it back to the room. What happened?

Wish I knew. We have been begging for them to bring back the Evergreens of old, but our pleas seem to have fallen on deaf ears. I did love their pizza. When I went with my brother and his three kids, we practically lived on that pizza. I have since tried the pizza down at the "take out desk," but it kinda sucks.

Nope, I"m pretty sure the entire resort entrance/bus stop were on the same level, but honestly I don't remember a lot. Our boys were 12 and 14 and we walked to/from the Poly, ate in the Garden Grill and Evergreens (which was great btw) and swam in the "Mickey" pool, but other than the room I don't remember much

The lobby/check in area was much smaller than now and close to the entrance. The small AAFES was right off the lobby as was Garden Gallery. There was no parking garage, just a lot. We just know when we went back in 2005, it was so different. Our boys haven't been there since 1998 so they can't really help me with any changes. I'm going to do a more intense search and see what I can find.

For the life of me I cannot find the place to do reservations online. When I follow the link (http://reservations.shadesofgreen.org/admin/html) Chrome can't pull it up. Are the online reservations not working right now?
