Best Resort for Night of Joy?

Thinking about transportation back to the resort afterwards. Which would be better? Boat to Ft. Wilderness? Boat to Poly? Bus or Car to Port Orleans Riverside? We are a family of 5 so that is what we have narrowed our choices down to. Thank you!

All that is available that will fit us and club level and it's a little out of our price range for this trip.

Im staying at WL for both boat and bus options. Plus it was the cheapest MK resort when I booked.

I am at WL as well, but WL won't hold five people (unless you book the deluxe CL rooms $$$) or a two bedroom villa at VWL (also $$$).

Any of the monorail resorts would be convenient. Poly actually has the most transportation options, because you can walk to/from the TTC, so the express monorail and ferry boat are also available to you, in addition to the resort monorail and Poly/GF boat.

I love FW, but you would be taking a boat from MK to FW, then unless you rent a golf cart, taking the internal bus back to your cabin. I don't mind using the internal bus system, but I've never gone to a late night party while staying at FW so I don't know if that would impact your choice. Another thing to consider is that September is the peak of hurricane season and the Fort is evacuated if there is any storm headed toward central Florida. I usually don't recommend people staying at FW in September because of this.

Thanks I read that info about hurricane season and the fort. I was looking forward to relaxing each day around Fort Wilderness before Night of Joy. But I've started thinking it may be too hot to do much around there. We were planning to get a golf cart, but if the boat is not running on the way back that sounds like a major pain to try to get back to the cabin by bus.

Poly is the cheapest MK resort for 5. I was thinking about the TTC option too as a way back. So now to decide between Poly and POR, $600 price difference for the convenience factor and the fact that we get free dining and I could eat at the Poly and never leave, two of my favorite restaurants are there.

We stayed at POR last year for a couple nights, we've never stayed at the Poly. But it's still a lot of money, decisions, decisions, decisions.

For a family of 5 I would go with the cheapest resort option: probably Port orleans riverside. Then what you save in room cost use for a cab. I hear that even a cab van (or whatever the larger ones are called) is no costlier than a cab. This would, likely, be the fastest way back to your resort and little waiting as they are usually lined up and ready to go.

Enjoy your night!

The boat would be running from MK to FW. But to get from the marina to the cabins you either have to rent a golf cart or take the internal bus. So it would be a bus and boat, or boat and cart, but either way it would involve two methods of transportation. I've never minded that - but I haven't been out in the early hours of the morning either.

Have you tried renting points from a DVC member for either BLT or VWL? That's probably the least expensive way to stay in a deluxe resort. If that's not an option, I would go with the Poly!
