Getting excited, leave at 7:00 am saturday. The BWI does have refrigerators in the rooms, right? I wanted to pick up some bottled water to keep in our room

There are refrigerators at BWI and the one we had worked really well. I had some yogurt on the top shelf and the froze (which was fine with me). So, you might need to fiddle with where you put your water. If you want it to freeze, take a little out so they don't explode and put them on the top shelf.

If anyone has any tips to beat the heat please share. We've never gone in August & I HATE heat & humidity. We won't be in parks during the daytime, and will dress light & drink lots of water- any other good tips?

We've gone in August the last few years and it is hot, but completely manageable as long as you don't push yourself too much. I can't remember if you planned any waterpark days, but those are so much fun in August. Also, at the parks there are lots of indoor attractions where you can catch A/C. As someone else noted, though, the A/C can be quite cold so if you're like me, take along a sweater. Finally, there are often CMs out and about spraying kids with water mist. If you don't mind that, make yourself a target for the mist -- it's quite refreshing.

I LOVE it (get it?) and congratulations to DD!

:yay:

Thanks Kook! I totally get the love!!! The girls fun T-shirts say "Keep Calm and Smash On" so that's what we're doing until next Friday when the state tournament starts.

How far is the walk to Boardwalk Bakery and would it be on the way to Epcot?

When you walk down the stairs from the lobby, you make a right at Flying Fish. You pass Seashore Sweets', Kouzzina and the pizza Window before hitting the bakery. And yes, it is on the other way to EPCOT.

Thanks everyone for the tips to beat the heat!

elgerberger - we're there at the same time?!?! How cool!

WDWKook we won't hit the parks during the day just because of the heat. The kids are teens - they'll sleep til 1pm if I let them (I will hit parks in the am alone while they sleep if I want)...then we'll hit the pool til dinner, then go to whichever park is open the latest.

We'll go to a waterpark once or twice, at opening, til it gets too hot/too crowded.

Tonight, my DBF & I were looking at the various Disney Deluxe Resorts. Boardwalk was the last I showed him, not for any reason, just happened that way. And, we loved everything about it!! Except one thing, which was a major turn off. Is that big, crazy looking clown thing really there at the pool? Hoping it is old & removed lol.

Sorry if that is such a stupid question.

The Keister Coaster! It's still there but it's really not as bad in person! That area has some nice views and if the clown really bothers you the resort has 2 other pools!

I agree about the clown...it was the one reason I resisted booking BWI for so many years. When we finally decided to stay at BWI for the first time one year ago, DS12 and i were amazed at how absolutely non-creepy it is in person. This is our number 1 resort now, and we have stayed here 3 times during this past year ... And our next stay is coming up in 2 weeks! Don't let the clown keep you from experiencing an amazing resort. Good luck with your decision!

Ok question for you BWI vets!

I booked a standard room but don't want a parking lot view b/c we spend ALOT of time on the balcony, what should I request that isn't too far down from elevators?

Also we are thinking about possibly upgrading to boardwalk view or CL but will not have the money to do so at check in, if its available when we check in will they allow us to upgrade & pay the difference?

I don't plan on doing online check in for that reason alone but if we can't come up with the extra money I want to ask for a good standard area upon check in!

I appreciate your help!

We are here now. Enjoying our home away home till June 3. The lounge is busy in the am and right at 5. The weather is great. We have been to Epcot which was busy but managable. DHS was busy but expected. Going off property today to lake minneola tiki bar.

I have booked a standard view room three times in the past year and one of those times was club level. The two non-club level rooms were both garden views which were lovely and both were on ground level with shared patios versus a balcony, near the Inn's quiet pool. Personally, as someone who spends a lot of time on the balcony also, I would request a garden view with a private balcony. I suggest always asking for an upgrade...you won't get something you don't ask for :) Also, i suggest being persistent with the front desk staff. I say this because, this is the only area at BWI where I have observed a serious lacking in Disney attitude. However, their back office staff are amazing, especially Judy! So don't hesitate to ask to speak to the front desk manager, they have more of a "can do" spirit. And while I am giving shout outs, as far as bell service is concerned, Pablo is the best!

We will be at BWI in 12 days and will be in a water view room for the first time. I will report back and share any new details I learn.

Happy planning!

I forgot to share, when we booked the standard club level room, we did online check in and on a lark I selected a boardwalk view as one of my room request, and guess what... I got it! Like I said, you can't get what you don't ask for ;)

Thank you (all). Maybe we will stay elsewhere, and wander over to see it, so next trip we could stay BWI. :)

I have to agree with the others about the clown pool. It has so many haters & when we went I barely even noticed it was there! It was totally a non-issue.

The one time we stayed at BWV, we had a direct view of Luna Park from our villa. We'll see what we have in the fall.

My DH and I arrived about 10:30 am. Did online Check in and all my requests were met. King size bed, 5th floor with vies of Epcot in the distance. Room was also ready when we checked in
