July 2013 with a 1 year old...Yes we ARE that crazy! We're back & had a great time

True....do you have an alternative picked out?

not really! Donald's Safari breakfast sounds good but we aren't getting hoppers so it would HAVE to be on our AK day. And AK is already such a short day so I hate to do that. If we did it would have to be an early one which kinda defeats the purpose of switching.

We all love breakfast buffets and the main purpose of choosing CM's is that Mickey is there; but I also love the napkin waving and think Harper would really enjoy that! I should start teaching her now, I bet! ;)

Did you just say you are not getting hoppers? :scared:

I don't think I Could ever do that, but never took a baby. So, then maybe I could if I took a baby :rotfl:

Just now popping in! I am taking my will be 14 month old to wdw for the first time in 18 days! We are so excited! My DH has only ever been to MK before so I am excited to show him the rest of the world!

My parents and little sister will be joining us for sure, and we will know if my brother and gf will be tagging along at the end of the week.

We have an 8:05 breakfast at Hollywood and Vine on the last day of the trip! No Mickey, but lots of Disney Junior characters DS loves!

yes, I'm sure we could upgrade if necessary but for now we didn't buy hoppers because my dad said we will 'waste too much time' changing parks. But then I got the park schedule and realized that we may end up adding them. It's up in the air but at least I know that it's an easy thing to add, and it the price won't change between now and then.

I want to take breaks in the afternoons, and if we do that we could always go back to a different park.

If we had the basic DDP (we have quick service ddp) then we'd absolutely need hoppers because it's so difficult to get ADR's at the park you're touring on a particular day. But we are only planning on the Chef Mickey's breakfast.

thanks for joining!! How exciting! Are you doing a PTR, or at least a TR?

do you have a girl or a boy? How crazy that your DH has never been to the other three parks! IMO, Epcot is the best park for adults to enjoy :thumbsup2 And that's not to say that kids can't enjoy it too, of course there's plenty of fun for them too. I hope that your 14 m/o enjoys it!

Did you just say you are not getting hoppers? :scared:

I had the same response! *shudder*

We did non hoppers on our very first trip and it was fine ... I think because we didn't know better. :lmao:

I think it's funny your dad says you'll waste time switching parks! Is he a park commando? I picture him running from attraction to attraction now, yelling at y'all to hurry up! :rotfl2:

He's a boy. :) I'll most likely be doing a TR, no PTR.

On a side note, we'll be there in two weeks from today and I am about to lose my mind from being so excited. :cool1::banana::banana:

I am totally picturing that now :rotfl2:

if we were doing sit down dining, then we'd NEED park hoppers. But as of now we plan on doing a park a day (with MK 2 days -- well, 1.5 really)

I have a feeling we may be adding on park hoppers when we get there. We shall see....

How was it? I hope you had a magical trip!! I see you already have a couple others booked so I'm sure it was amazing!

Well, I guess this hasn't been much of a PTR :( I have been SO busy I have hardly had time to plan this trip out! I'm trying my best not to freak out. Normally I would have started packing by now, and I don't even have the suitcases down from the attic yet! AND I have one more person to pack for this year! yikes...

I've enlisted the help of my mom and sister to come this weekend and help me pack for Harper......and secretly I want them to help me too! :rolleyes1

I pretty much have to pack for my husband...because I left it up to him to pack for a weekend trip once (not to disney) and he only brought ONE shirt!! Who does that?!

DD's 1st birthday party (Little Mermaid themed) is going to be on July 14th, which is the day before her actual birthday, so I have been working hard on planning it since it's only 9 days after we return! What on earth was I thinking? ;)

As far as trip related planning, here's what I've gotten done recently:
Got DD some new sandals (but she's not actually walking yet so they are nothing fancy) and a bunch of new shorts & some Disney shirts. Also a new Minnie Mouse swimsuit! She's got more than enough clothes for the trip. I'm excited to see her in everything!

I bought 2 new pairs of shorts for myself, but I may need more. I think I'll look when I'm off on Friday. I would also like some new flip flops but I'll survive with the ones I have if I don't get another pair.

I bought a few fun 4th of July glowsticks to use at the park on the 3rd since we won't be there on the 4th. (but we are staying near the beach in Fort Walton on the 4th so we might save something for that night as well)

And we finally got a new stroller! My wonderful mom bought it for us! We went with the Britax B-Agile and I love and am SO excited to use it at the parks!

I also purchased:
ponchos
disposable bibs
Little Mermaid swim 't-shirt' coverup for myself. Found it at Target, last one!
puzzle books for the car ride (actually, DH got them for me with my mother's day goodies!)

What I still need:

I have been looking for a later reservation for Chef Mickey's breakfast on the 3rd or 4th but no luck. For now I still have the 7:15 reserved and I'm praying that my family will comply or else we'll be able to get a later one.

I still need a swimsuit coverup for DD. I looked at BRU and Target and didn't see any. Maybe I missed them?

DH needs new sandals, and probably a couple pairs of shorts.

I need some to-go formula packets to make things easier on us at the parks. Or I may just use the portable triple compartment formula holder I have. I'm debating on this because I don't yet know what bag I'm going to use to bring all the essentials in the parks.

Need to figure out the bag situation....In the past we've used a mini drawstring backpack. That won't be enough for our stuff and DD's. Should I bring something separate for her or try to get something big enough for everything that the 3 of us want to bring with us daily?? We don't bring much, but I don't want something that's so big our stuff is going to get lost in. I like to have easy access to gum, candy, photopass cards, etc.

I really just need to finalize my packing list, so I can get all the laundry done by this weekend and get most of everything packed (whatever I don't need during the week next week). It's crunch time!!

So exciting, you are almost there!

Just have to comment on the Britax B-Agile - that is our stroller and we LOVE it! We actually got it just for Disney. :)

We have gone with our nieces to WDW many times, sometimes without their parents. We always use a backpack and take turns carrying it. You can put a diaper and a couple of wipes in separate plastic bags, with disposable changing pads for easy, quick changes. Just grab and go! You can also fit in snacks, formula, a bottle, change of clothes, etc. You may need two backpacks with that many people, though!

Funny about you husband only packing one shirt. DH is the same. Hope your DD has a great birthday! Good luck with the Chef Mickey! pixiedust:
I vote one big bag instead of two - easier to keep an eye on.
Good luck! :goodvibes

thanks for the tips! good idea to use plastic bags for the wipes & diapers. :thumbsup2
Disposable changing pads?? oooh...I'm off to google now!!

My mom and sister will be carrying their own little bags, or sharing one.

So close now

Sounds like you got a lot of good stuff

yay for new stroller

Glad you got your mom and sister to help you pack

When Trent was younger and we had to bring a lot of stuff to the parks, we always did a backpack. One bag is easier than two for sure :thumbsup2

So, how did it go?

I've been excitedly waiting for your post-trip update since we'll be going to WDW with a 11 mo old next March. Was there anything about traveling with your baby girl that you hadn't expected or wish you had known?

We're baaaack! Well, we've been back. LOL Sure WISH I could stay at WDW that long ;)

I am sorry that I kept you waiting lulu girl! Things sure have been busy since our return! We celebrated my Harper's first birthday on the 14th (actual bday the following day, 15th) and had a blast! But it was pretty stressful getting it planned, right down to the last minute! I had been planning for a while, but that was really dumb of me planning a vacation and her party within a week of each other! Oh well, live and learn!

We had a great time but it went by REALLY fast! And the rain...oh dear Lord, the rain! :worried: I wish I had purchased the Britax raincover for the stroller, but I didn't think the $33 was necessary. I learned my lesson for next time. We were able to use a poncho, however, when the rain came down hard, we had to make sure the poncho was secured really well which proved to be difficult!

I took lots of pictures; though I wish I had taken more group photos. The rain really screwed that up for us. Going into the park, there would be too many crowds waiting to take pics near the park icons so we would put it off for later, and leaving (for our afternoon break or at night) it always seemed to be raining, or DD was sleeping, etc.

Still, we had fun, good family time, some laughs, and like always, I can't wait to return to my favorite place!

I will be doing a TR; it may be slow going, but I really want to actually FINISH it this time! :rotfl:

I hadn't read your PTR before now, so I obviously missed it all, but I'm looking forward to reading your TR! We are planning on taking our baby next December when s/he will be not quite 1 so I am looking forward to reading about the experiences of others who have done the same.

p.s. - your daughter is beautiful, congratulations!

Can't wait to hear about Disney with a baby (though I admit, I'm leaving my baby at home for our upcoming trip) and your thoughts on POR.

Cheryl
