its official... world of color is replacing illuminations

I agree. For those of us that frequent WDW it. Seems old but not to those that have never been. I have seen it dozens of times and still enjoy it. I also still LOVE Fantasmic.

Hey that HDDR show has to go, its been around FOREVER. ;)

:offtopic: I'll police myself.

I haven't been to HDDR for years but remember it as a good time.

Love Illuminations, love Wishes - hate Fantasmic. Never saw WOC figured it was similar to Fantasmic and avoided it when I was at DL last year for a wedding in the area.

As someone said to each their own - one person's hate is another person's love.
That's why we're individuals and not everything will appeal to all of us but Disney does a great job of having something for everyone.

Can't wait to get back. December 2013 MVMCP:thumbsup2

I'm also not a Fantasmic fan. I have to ask. Have you seen any videos of WOC? Too me, I have only seen the videos, its not at all like Fantasmic, or Mickey's bad Acid trip as I call it, and looks amazing.

WOC is really nothing like Fantasmic - DL has its own version of Fantasmic that plays in Frontierland. While I do enjoy Fantasmic, WOC is stunning.

No I never have seen any of the WOC videos or advertising.

I made an assumption that since it was projected on the water screen like Fantasmic that I wouldn't enjoy it. I'm bad and since I made an ***umption you know what that makes me! (Eeyore)

I'm probably going to take some heat for this but I've seen WOC multiple times and I don't get it. Is dancing water really that exciting for people? I just returned from a DL trip and wasn't even tempted to go to WOC at all this trip.

Kind of in that same category as PP - Fantasmic is my least favorite nighttime show, we haven't seen it in maybe 4 trips. World of Color is NOTHING like Fantasmic, except for the protection on the fountains part, but while I find that part of Fantasmic a giant bore...World of Color is AMAZING!

Another poster mentions the videos of it, but let me tell you, certain things do not translate well to a video. This is one of those things. The scale of it (both width and height) is something that needs to be seen to be understood.

Not saying you are guaranteed to like it, but I would still say if you ever get out that way again you seriously need to give it a try.

From what I have been hearing, big changes are approaching the night time shows. I just hope TDO will not get cheap. 1ST Mk wishest will be replaced. 2nd illuminations will get a minor update. Now the X factor is F! Whole new show or WOC. There was also talk of WoC/fountain show towards the front of AK. Nevertheless with the popularity of WoC DW will see a show like it but not in Epcot

Have to agree...

Fantasmic is so old, boring and tired that it is screaming for the can...

But they bothered to build a "special" (aka cheap) theater for it...so it would have to be vacated for about 5 years of crowds before they would pull the plug.

Sorcery in the Sky was simply more entertaining...even if it was just a simple fireworks show played to good movie music.

those shows need work. i have always loved illuminations...but its beyond tired and it seems that they "forget" to pack some of the tubes each day and there are fewer effects with every showing. I find it pour taste that they play the "crapestry of nations" song over the PA system after its over as well...a horrid parade that was deep sixed what? 7 years ago?
Same in the magic kingdom...the finale takes about 12 seconds now....not exactly "world class".

Say what you want about the tapestry of nations parade itself, but the music for it is phenomenal. I'd hate to see Illuminations go, but it needs to be treated well or or else It'll be gone. I'd say something about Fantasmic but I like to pretend it doesn't exist.

It's interesting hearing many posters say that Fantasmic is outdated and boring, while WoC is incredible. Doesn't sound like the average California visitor to me - here, Fantasmic is still going strong during it's 20th anniversary, is technologically relevant thanks to constant upgrades, and yet one can often walk right into WoC without waiting because the back rows never really fill in...

I clicked on this to see the a news or media release story on this. There isn't one. Why are there 8 pages of nothing so far? :confused3

Because there isn't a news story. No press release. It never was "official", and is nothing more than a rumor. If you read the eight pages, you would have realized that by about page 2... :)

Because Disney has done little investment (comparitively....when considering how much they rake) at wdw recently and these are the knots we tie ourselves in...

I don't think Fantasmic is boring, but we only get to see it every 2 or 3 years, so that maybe why we enjoy it each time. Every time we go (off seasontoo)it is going strong in attendance.

I read long ago the amphitheater style is build in that style to provide the best viewing in a out air format. I believe it fit the multi media show excellently.

As for a new show, illuminations is getting long in the tooth. I would welcome a new show as long as it follows the theme of World. showcase................maybe it is time for the next generation

Totally correct!:thumbsup2

Thank Mr. Iger!:scared:

However if you look around the last 2 years, things have slowly been changing. I am seeing more and more signs of returning to the right way to run the parks.............more maintenance, attractions getting the major refits they need. Fantasyland which is wonderful as the land intended for younger children. Those that wine about it I think forget that.....it was never intended to be a thrill land.

I except after dropping $4 Billion in Lucas. You will see a major Star Wars land in HS within 3 or 4 years!

Car land is so amazing and doing so well in CA, it will show up in the east as well!

You mentioned somewhere the monorails will be gone?.........I can not agree at all.......yes it needs a new generation of trains but again that will happen, they have been doing one hell of a lot of rebuilding and maintenance on the system.

Besides, taking out the monorail would be like tearing down the castle!

I am not sure about expanding it. I expect to see a state of the art pod or light rail system.

Lastly, and I expect to get flamed for this, I expect whatever light rail or monorail expansion is built will go to the airport and to UNI and a few other stops.

I believe there is more completion on the dis, WDW vs Uni then there is between the companies They maybe working together more then anyone knows.

A strong Orlando is good for everyone!

FYI, they did the BIG announcement just a few minutes ago. You know what's coming to Epcot? Nothing. Not. A. Thing.

It was all for 24-hour park day on May 24th, for MK, DL and CA parks. [Edited: got confused]

The only reason it was at Epcot was so they could use Spaceship Earth as a giant Mike Wazowski.

I think THIS is why "official" shouldn't have been in the title. It's ok to be incorrect when you've heard a rumor. The person is new and should be advised for future posts to classify as a rumor. Pointing this out isn't nasty or rude if you are simply pointing it out. One poster gave the recommendation to change the title of the thread. I don't see anything wrong with that. I think some other replies could be taken either way. When we read things, it can easily be interpreted in different ways.

By the same token, there were other replies that we're rude too. Comments like, "get a life" aren't exactly productive to a conversation. We're all adults. Perhaps we should conduct ourselves as such?

DISlike!
I think their heart was in the right place. Just say it's a rumor. I have a feeling the poster didn't know that CM's are often wrong or give misleading information. So I give them a pass.

As for your post, saying people have no lives is not the nicest thing to say either. So I guess in your mind, it is bad to criticize someone for posted a misleading post, but saying forum members have no lives is okay. That is weird to me.

I hope the poster learns from this, and becomes a great contributor to this site and I hope you do as well.
Peace.

A to the men!! I totally agree!

There is some truth to this. Roe will be replaced by a new show that uses some WOC tech. That is as close to WOC as it gets though. The show will be ROE plus basically
