We leave in 13 days, yes we are counting!! :yay: when do you start packing? I'm ready to begin the process, but DH thinks it is still too soon.

We leave in the same amount of time with a stop in NYC....I have been throwing some clothes in here and there. Things I know we won't use before we go and toiletries. Ready to pack and go now.

I actually start gathering stuff together two months in advance! :rolleyes1 ;) I don't actually pack it until the week of, but I start to gather stuff in our guest room and check it off as I go. I find it less stressful that way.

I have some clothes that I only wear on vacation, so those go right back in the suitcase after the post-trip laundry is done. I also have meds, a power strip, and some other items that I keep in the suitcase (I check the meds after each trip to be sure they aren't expiring before the next trip). I don't have much packing to do when it comes right down to the departure date.

So I'm pretty much half packed all the time.

I pack the day we leave. LOL. Actually from the time I book my trip till we leave I create a spreadsheet for everything that needs to be done and what needs to be packed. We drive from PA so a couple weeks prior I will stock up on bottled water and snacks for the drive down, as well as any toiletries, Advil, tums (various OTC meds, we have gotten nasty colds and stomach bugs on vacations, we bring everything for everything... Don't want to spend $10 for 1 days worth of cold medicine in the gift shop). The morning of the day we leave I do a load of laundry and have my bags packed before the afternoon, we usually hit the road about 7pm.

The night before. :)

I have a packing list I keep on my iPad that I use for any trip. Makes it easy to just grab stuff and toss it in my bags. Takes about 30-45 minutes.

For clothes that I know that I want/need during our vacation; I will start putting that aside a week to typically two weeks in advance. All the paper work that is required for the trip is sitting along side the same luggage in its own carry-on so I know we will not forget or misplace it. I don't want to be one of those persons that writes to this post, We leave in x number of days/hours and can't find our passports/birth certificates.

Medicine in the original containers are there, toiletry kit, sun screen, anything I know that we can't forget or know we will not need before our trip goes there.

I start throwing the stuff we only use at WDW (like ponchos and the first aid kit) in a bag months before, along with things like toiletries. This is just to keep the stuff I buy in advance in one place, but I only pack my suitcase the night before the trip. If I could get away with it though, my suitcase would be packed and near the front door tomorrow for my December trip. :rolleyes1

We leave in almost a week - had several of my clothes set aside - pairing up certain tops with bottoms
swimsuits were stuck in the suitcase about month ago - we weren't going to wear them before hand so figure they were a good spot so I don't forget them after making sure the ones I liked still fit

boys shorts are on waiting since they need to wear them to school this next week - those will be packed the day before we leave

I hate this waiting :sad2:

we leave in 14 days....yesterday I did my first Target run for a few things I always get there (like little boxes of wine that fit perfectly in the frig:rolleyes1), a few travel sized things I buy every trip, etc. I put a small basket in the corner of our bedroom and start the 'pile'. Over the next week the pile will grow, when I think of something, I put it in the pile. I really don't pack clothing until about 3 days before, toiletries the morning we leave. I also have a pretty extensive packing list (see the tips board for good ideas) that helps me remember everything.

I say start the pile, it's fun and every little bit you can do ahead of time with make it easier. I don't actually put the stuff in the suitcase usually until the day or two before.

We are all going soon! We are at Yacht Club....anyone else? I have yet to meet up with a diser on property!

Hi Reddy from scrapbooking board - you are such a help to me, thanks!

I'm nearly packed now and i don't go until september. I still need to get a few things like OC meds and few more clothing items. I really didn't unpack from my cruise

:thumbsup2 That's awesome! I wish I could do it that far in advance, just too hard with 5 people to pack for.

I clearly remember when DD was 8 (now 20) we picked out her outfits with matching socks and hair bows :dance3: a full 3 weeks in advance! Her suitcase sat next to her bed for those 3 weeks! Priceless.

There are four of us, DH and I, DD20, DS17. Everyone packs themselves and they get one suitcase only (this year we are bring carry-ons only) and they must be ready to go 48 hours in advance.;). It seems to work.

(Can u guess who has the smallest carry-on?)

According to my sister, for our trip in the middle of June I should have started packing three weeks ago :/

For myself, I plan to have everything in the suitcase the night before I leave.

Some things I always keep in the suitcase. Been buying some odds/ends as I think of it. I work 5 & 1/2 days a week so I'm planning on packing on Memorial Day as I will have an xtra day off. That will be a full 2 weeks before we go.

Our trip isn't for another 364 days, and I already have a few things packed! As I find Tinker Bell gifts, I pack them quickly so I don't forget where they put them.

Now, for the basics, I try not to pack too early. (More than a week out.) If I pack too early, I always throw in way too much last minute stuff. Last time I did that, we had to take an extra two suitcases worth of stuff due to my stupidity.

A month before we leave i will start putting in the warm weather clothes because by mid Sept we won't be in shorts anymore here :)

WE have a Bin that is filled with our "Disney only" stuff....(Suntan lotion, ponchos, travel toiletries, DIsney T-shirts, etc...), but as far as packing the bags....the day before...we only live 85 miles from the world so whatever clothes we need are already available, we've been enough times to know exactly what we need to bring. The only thing we do a couple of day ahead of time is get the kids "buckets" together...each contains snacks, a new Disney t-shirt, new Disney Pajamas, their Gift Card and a couple of child specific items.
