:yay: Brenda!! I am so glad you're here and first to boot! I wouldn't feel right doing this TR without you!

Of course I can only do that when I'm not wearing the "No Dancing" shirt. ;)

I'm in for sure!! Can't wait!

:welcome: Wendy! I'm so glad to have my Scotia friend on board.

Sounds like fun...joining in. :thumbsup2

Wonderful. Thanks so much Michelle and :welcome:.

Subscribing. I had to, you have the same Orange Mickey shirt as my Husband.

:cool1:

Thank you! Oh my, I LOVE that shirt. I wear it constantly. I think I bought it 2 or 3 years ago when they were "for a limited time only". Of course, they're still for sale today. That may be good, since I will probably need a new one soon.

Joining in!

:welcome: Sarah, and thank you for being here.

Hi Rob! I'm in for this TR too! Don't confuse me too much jumping from this one then last Oct....lol
glad you had a great solo trip and can't wait to hear about the magic!!!! popcorn::

:welcome: and thank you. I will do my very best not to confuse any dual readers. I think I should be able to organize to at least be updating for different parks around the same time. Otherwise I'll get confused too. Ah who am I kidding... I'll get confused anyway.

Oh my gawsh!! I need a no dancing shirt!!

Yay for a new tr! Im super excited to read all about all the fun and adventures that you had on your solo trip!!

:yay: Katt. I hope you had a great (albeit short) mini trip last week.

Haha that shirt is totally home made... nothing but a $5 Walmart T and iron on transfer paper. It turned out pretty good though. I love making shirts for my Disney trips.

Thanks Katt.. so glad you're here.

In for your TR! :goodvibes

Thank you for joining this one as well! I'm delighted to have you.

Sounds like fun! Can't wait to hear all about it. I'm seriously considering a solo trip so I love getting the solo perspective!

Thank you for following along. It was actually through reading various solo TR's that I finally decided to just go for it myself. Seriously. go for it. You'll love it!

I'm in! Can't wait to read all about it!

:welcome: Carol, I am so happy to have you here!

Oh boy! This sounds like fun! <--- typed in my best Mickey voice. :)

Wow Mary, that's an awesome Mickey imitation. Well done! So happy to :welcome: you.

FILLIN' ME UP... LET THE MEMORIES BEGIN!
Day 1 April 27, 2013 Part 1

:thanks: one and all so much for joining in and following along.
I truly appreciate it and Im honored to have you all here!!

Now, lets get this plane in the air!

Travel day is always a combination of stress and excitement.
Im always thinking, Why cant someone finally invent safe teleportation? Cmon scientist people& get on it. Enough with studying the mating habits of the West African cockroach. I just need to get to Disney faster!

Since teleportation was not yet an option, my wonderful parents picked me up bright and early to take me to the airport, as they have so many times before.
On the drive, things just kept popping into my head&

What am I forgetting? Will I get there on time?
Did Mowgli REALLY just make an appearance at Animal Kingdom?

OK, the last one just popped into my head now but the answer is YES!!

Thankfully, all the self induced stress was for not, as check in, security, and US customs went smoothly and quickly.
In fact, I had the same exact US customs officer that I had this past October.

After a quick coffee fuel-up courtesy of the newly installed Tim Hortons in the US departures area (Im Canadian so Tim Hortons' addiction is instilled at birth), I was soon on the plane for my direct flight to Orlando.

Then finally I was in the air.

03.jpg

And leaving Nova Scotia behind.

04.jpg

Thankfully, there was a little in-flight entertainment to help pass the time.

05.jpg

A few hours later, I was over MCO& Orlando International Airport., but I noticed I was not alone

06.jpg

Are we racing???

Before long, however, we were safely on the ground.

07.jpg

After disembarking the plane, I quickly made my way over to the MCO fake-o-rail, complete with Disney advertising (and Universal advertising, but whatever. Its Harry Potter so Ill let it pass.)

I really wish this was my home airport, though in a way, it kind of is.

11.jpg

Since I was not using Magical Express, I booked a car.
Nothing against Magical Express at all, I just like the freedom a car brings, plus I got a wonderful price.
What can I say, I like to drive, I like freedom, and I hate buses.

12.jpg

In minutes (due to being a Dollar Express member), I was on the road and headed home, once again hearing the Angels sing as I passed under what is probably the best sign in the history of ever.

Day 1 – April 27, 2013 Part 1 Cont.

After passing under the heavenly archway “Where Dreams Come True” and the real world is forbidden to enter, I continued on to my very first EVER Disney on property resort, passing this on the way.

14.jpg

Before arriving at my destination at the next light.

15.jpg

16.jpg

Almost!!!!!!!!!!

Finally, I passed through the security checkpoint, and arrived at the check in parking lot.

19.jpg

After parking, I "POPPED" into Classic Hall,

20.jpg

And since I had already checked in online,

21.jpg

I picked up my welcome pack, and was off to my room,

22.jpg

Complete with my desired and excitedly anticipated Mickey towel.

23.jpg

Seriously, I could not have been happier having that little towel waiting for me; I don’t care that I’m supposed to be an “adult”.
I know it’s pretty standard, but my Mousekeeper, Genita, would continue to spoil me for the next couple of days which I will share in due time.

I snapped a selfie in the mirror since, you know, that's what all the kids do, and I'm a kid when in Disney after-all, (DisneyKid4Life Yo!)

24.jpg

And one of my newly acquired Mickey soap, for no other reason than it’s just better than regular soap, (and one of them may have come home with me… shhhh, don’t tell),

25.jpg

Before setting out to explore my new home for the week… as well as my neighbor.

TO BE CONTINUED…

YAY for arrivals!!
I've tried to break my Tim Horton's addiction... hasn't worked yet. Oh well. Glad to hear your flight and arrival all went smoothly!
Awwww Pop Century!! I get so nostalgic. I love that place.

I'll be staying at Pop, too - nice to see the photos! I haven't done the online check-in before so I will try this time. How far ahead can you do it?

TP

Great first installment and wonderful pictures! Pop was the resort we stayed at during our first-ever vacation staying on property. Fond memories there! We're now in love with Port Orleans French Quarter, our trip this fall will mark our sixth stay there. It's definitely our home away from home. :lovestruc

Tim's is a national obsession ... resistance is futile. ;)

Looking forward to the next post! :thumbsup2

Woo hoo, you arrived at the resort! Always the best part of the trip. :thumbsup2

Is that the monorail t-shirt you're wearing? I have that same one!

And Mickey soap is awesome. You can never have enough Mickey soap. You should've taken more. ;)

Every time I travel to Disney I wish apparition was real…and then I realize it isn’t working because my wand is at home, and they probably wouldn’t work after security…yup…harry potter nerd over here…

UUUGGGGHHH MOWGLI!! I MISSED IT BY TWO DAYS!! That last Tim Hortan’s of a week is always a killer, like, Disney coffee is HORRIBLE. I know when I move down there I’ll be brining so much with me! Ack, direct flight?! Damn you East coasterner! ….that’s a word right…..

MCO is totally my home airport, like, that’s home, Orlando is home, that is all. Like, in Finding Nemo when Dory’s all “I look at you, and I’m home” that is me, with everything from the moment I get off the plane.

I’ve never rented a car in Disney, then again, I’m not old enough to rent a car in the states, and I don’t have my full license yet baha! Did you do the whole “traveler license” thing I saw something posted on the dis about how a Canada license wouldn’t be accepted in the States?

Ahh Pop, my original home away from home, it’s great there! Glad you got to experience it!

I am planning on doing my first solo trip this Oct, so i am eagerly reading to see how your trip go's. Do you usually go solo?

I think that once you have passed through the WDW sign everyone becomes a little kid at heart! That must be what happened to you.

That's so funny that you like to drive yourself around....:drive: I leave the driving to the very capable bus drivers. Like the ones that take me to every other resort other than my own!! :rolleyes2 You don't know what you are missing!

What section of Pop Century was your room? Can't wait to see how Genita spoiled you!! :)

Great start Rob!
