FP+ is Live! Magic Bands in the park!

People can already steal your info from the RFID cards that are rapidly becoming the norm if they were so inclined... Also most credit cards have the same technology so it's not like the bands are going to make you any less secure than you already are.

Steal my credit card info from the magic bands? That's pretty rich considering there isn't any personally identifying data stored or carried on the bands.

Not necessarily true. One theory is that you will get 3 attractions per day that you can FP+ in advance, and in addition to those 3 you will be able to "pull" (virtually) FPs the day of from the attractions just like before. No one knows if this is true or not, just speculation.

I know it is speculation, but an interesting idea and something that may make FP+ more palatable to naysayers.

Indeed. People just don't seem to understand this part.

Can we consider letting this thread go back to the -hey FP+ is being tested in the parks, right now, hooray- type of thread that it started as?

Not likely. It's relatively calm at the moment, but wait until the normal FP+ debaters arrive.

I hope the magic bands are ready in December! I have loved what I have read about them so far! :)

It would be great to keep the debate to a separate thread so that this thread can be reserved for new news...every time the post cou t jumps I keep hoping it is from someone actually testing the dang thing ;)

That would be cool...

Mesa- are the terms & conditions online?

They are somewhere (don't recall where exactly), and I know they can be found on the MDE app under Privacy & Legal.

As long as 60 days is mentioned in those, that's the best number we have to go on.

I'll be there Friday night late (Concierge may not be open). I'll for sure go ask on Saturday if I get in too late Friday. I'll report back if anything exciting happens.:thumbsup2

I have not read a lot about these because I just figure that things will change A LOT before it actually goes live. But I do have a question:

Has anyone heard of anything with FP+ that will prevent the "waste" factor of the current FP system? We all know that people (myself included) have gotten FPs and then for one reason or another, have not used them. I have always tried to "gift" mine to a family that wanted them on my way out. But if you make reservations at 60 days out, and then decide that you don't want to use them (or can't use them or whatever), unless you go into the app and CANCEL them, they would just be wasted, right? How many people would actually go in and cancel them? Until there were credit card holds for dining options, many people didn't cancel ADRs--they just didn't show up.

Wasn't there an "Official" Speculation FP+ thread that covers all this already posted?

Yes, please dont get excited because nothing good can come of the new FP+ system. It is just designed by Disney to get people to spend more money in the parks. It is also designed to reward the person that doesnt rope drop and can in the future will be able to get an FP+ without having to get to DHS an hour before it opens.

This will drive people away in droves to other vacation destinations because it will decrease the value of a Disney vacation. Just like the implementation of the FP return time enforcement decreased the value and drove scores of people away.

And any Terms and conditions you read about the FP+ are set in stone. Disney is bound by those previously released T&C. Nothing can change when all the testing is completed.

Disney's IT is totally inept and will not ever be able to get all the systems on the website and mobile app to work on a consistent basis. People will not be able to use the system and any FP+ that they make will be lost by the poor IT designers and system.

People will be forced to carry smart phones or tablets with them all day. people will leave their ringers on and disrupt every ride because they dont want to miss any texts from Disney. Provided that the incompetent IT can make that part of the system work.

People will not be able to figure out any of the proposed kiosks that are setup for FP+

And those bracelets. UGGHH. Nothing to get excited about there. People will have to wear those around. And beware, Disney will track your every movement while wearing one. People will be able to steal your credit card info from those magic bands. Thieves will be everywhere trying to capture info from those bracelets.

Please dont get excited about anything regarding FP+. Nothing good will come from it.

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: :rolleyes2 :smokin: :rolleyes1

This part is extremely entertaining

Not sure the last time you have been to any of the parks, but I've gone numerous times over the past year and can tell in no way have "scores of people been driven away" .... I wish that were the case but unfortunately it's not. In fact I believe Disney just reported profit gains for the past year which would indicate the opposite of your pessimism!

This would be a totally workable system for me. 3FP per day that i have to plan 6 months in advance just doesn't cut it for me. If the system esentially stayed the same, but added the advance FP's that would be great but based on much of what I am seeing in the patent applications from Disney that have been shared here, the point is to get people OFF the rides and in the shops. I read something that said that the idea was to limit people to one FP ride per day for headliners. More than that and you will have to wait for it.

Only allowing FPs for headliners at one per day is a fairer way for all guests.

Nope, not thinking of Universal. I read it in regards to Disney's FP+. Good to know they are not moving towards pay only. I would not be pleased.

Maybe you're thinking about the special personalized wristbands that will be available for purchase once everything is switched over from cards?

I'm really excited to try out FP+. I'll be arriving next Monday and I will definitely ask and see if I can get in on the testing!

I actually just spoke to someone from Disney's tech support group on some unrelated My Disney Experience issues I'm having and mentioned about how I hoped it would be up and running for my trip in September and I knew they were testing now. Her response was that yes, they are testing it with some guests at Deluxe Resorts currently.
