Thanks for sharing the pics pktbMouse!

Its a good job I didn't only pick CBR on the basis of the room décor then as those white covers do nothing for the room! ( no offence to your pictures/ photography skills!! ;))

Glad you had a good holiday :goodvibes

Claire :)

Thanks so much for the pics, pktbmouse! I am glad we're driving, I'll be bringing a comforter or something from home, as I tend to be cold at night. I'm sorry about your multiple room fiasco, but I love your attitude about the whole thing. I was planning to request Jamaica for our trip next month, but maybe we'll look at a different village.

We have stayed in Trinidad South before it was pirate rooms, and also non-preferred in Martinique. What would be a good village to ask for? Maybe we won't ask for anything and just go with whatever we get. We don't mind the walk to OPR regardless.

How far of a walk is it from non preferred rooms and is necessary with little ones to pay for preferred ?

It depends on what section you end up in. I don't think you are ever more than a 10-12 minute walk away from the food court. However, if you are that far away it makes a quick run up to refill your mug a bit of a pain. We were in Jamaica 45 and a couple of times I just bought a pop from a vending machine, instead of making the walk to the front.

If I were to stay at CBR again I would definitely pay for a preferred room.

boo, I'm so disappointed in the new bedding and lack of queen beds. I was really hoping that the doubles would be changed out by August.

Aruba is only like 5 mins across the bridge and is not preferred that would be a nice choice to request. And yes I totally agree...apart from the white covers being thin as heck they do nothing for the decor. They just don't match anything and to be honest, they look like they are getting stained already. ( Bad choice CBR) It looks like they dont plan on changing them anytime soon either. I have no clue where that person got the pics of that refurbished room from cause I tell ya I had a dang good look. Hubby was scared I would get stopped by security I was peeking in so many rooms. hehe Even the painters were wondering what I was looking at but they were very nice and would say Hi back to me when I said good morning to them.
We have also been in enough hotels over the years to know Housekeeping can be a hit or a miss and Disney is no exception. Things like this we have learned to just laugh off and take with a pinch of salt. Its a running joke with hubby and I now that when ever I complain about anything it usually comes back to bite me anyhow so that why we found it funny to come back to no housekeeping whatsoever. What was even more funnier...we had left $5 tip for the maid and the guy that delivered the bed rail for our 4yr old while we were at the parks had taken her tip LOL ( at least we think it was him!!! ) :lmao: talk about confused..!!!

I know...sucks big time..I was all sneaky at check in when she said she was putting us in Jamaica I said "ohhh are we in the new refurbished rooms?" she looked at me like I had two heads...she said "they are only painting the outside right now" I asked...soooo when are the queen beds coming? she replied..."ohh we dont have any plans of replacing them any time soon"
I mean really CBR, comon get with it!!

I was really bummed to see the new white coverlet things in pics. I mean, why would they invest in those if they were upgrading to queen beds this year?

And it didn't look like anything but the bedspread was changed out. They even had the same turquoise/green pillow on the white spread. I was surprised they weren't the full room refurb. like the previous pictures posted.

Thanks for the pics! I honestly can't see them sticking with those linens for the beds. They are simply too plain and thin. I would think that something else is coming along down the road.

I saw pics of ASports, and they had the same type linens with a small print blanket or something across the foot of the bed. It looked better that way, just a little bit of color. I don't care for the plain white, either. It won't ruin my trip by any means, but I'd prefer something with a little color.

Those white things are the "blankets" that are usually under the bed spread. I just got back friday night, and my sources told me that the redone room everyone saw pictures of are of 1 of 2 mock up rooms in anticipation of a room makeover which is planned for next year..............bear in mind Disneys' fiscal year ends in October.

Hi Guys,

Sorry bit of a weird one here, not sure if any recent goers can recall or if anyone is heading off very soon or maybe there at moment.

Our little one whilst being confident in the water (she's 7), is not able to swim without the aid of water rings.

Just wondering if anyone recalls the types of character or themed water rings that are sold within Calypso market (think that's the name of it).

Our little one has a few swimsuits, a couple of flowers type ones (if any Pirates Arm Bands that'd be quite cool), also a Red and White Minnie Swimsuit and a Ariel Swimsuit.

Anyone able to advise? Or is it exactly what I'd find in the Disney Store website?

TIA

FD

We weren't specifically looking for swimwear or the floaties last May but I do remember there being floaties in the store. I believe they were Nemo but I could be wrong.

That would definitely make sense and heres hoping they are spending the money on new "queen" sized comforters for the new refurb'ed rooms!!! Im glad they have 2 mock up rooms too and pray they dont pick that awful brown one we seen the pics of. I just pity the poor guests from now till then that have no comforter!!! Thanks for the info CTPacky:)

If there's no comforter in our room, I'm going to request one. I don't know that it will do any good, but I'll ask.

Are all of the buildings and rooms in Martinique considered "preferred" rooms? I booked a water or pool view room, and didn't know if I could request the Martinique rooms? Thank you :cool1:

No, only buildings 24, 25 & 26 in Martinique are preferred. Buildings 21, 22 & 23 are standard.
