Mixing Points?

Howdy,

We own at AKL. A family member owns at OKW and offered me their points for next year.

If the family member transfers their points to my account, can they be partially used to cover the booking at my home resort at the 11 month mark?

Here's a hypothetical example using made up numbers:

I have 100 points at AKL
The person at OKW transfers me 50 points

I need 150 points to book two rooms at AKL (let's assume it's 75 points per room). Can I book the entire reservation at AKL at the 11 month mark, or will I run into problems?

Can CMs on the phone do an override to allow the booking? What have people's experiences with this typically? I'm sure it's a fairly common occurrence.

Does season matter? This would be a non peak time (very end of august or beginning of September.)

Thanks

I'm sure that someone with more experience will come and answer this, but I am pretty certain that you can not mix points at 11 months. You can only use the AKL points at 11 months and then add to the reservation with the OKW points at 7 months.

Transferred points retain their home resort advantage for booking. So, no you cannot use transferred OKW points to book at AKV in the 11-month window.

I know what the "guidebook" says, but I'm asking for what people's direct experiences have been. There are sources online that say the system doesn't properly track these transfers, and that generally phone calls are required to sort things out, etc etc.

Transfers used to take on the booking advantage of the account they were transferred into. I believe that loophole was fixed a number of years ago.

You have to call because the transferred points do not appear online - so to use them, you have to call MS.

You still can't use OKW points to for 11 month booking into AKL.

If so, everyone would just buy the minimum points at BLT/BCV <insert your difficult to book resort here> and the rest at the cheapest resort and start transferring to their own BLT/BCV <insert your difficult to book resort here> account to book at 11 months.

Someone posted a month or two ago that they tried this to get a grand villa, mixing 2 resorts at 11 months and couldn't do it. They complained that their guide told them they could do it. I think it was a misunderstanding - they may have asked the guide if 2 members can combine points for one room.
