Coming to you Live from Disney World!-Take 2 AUG/SEPT WINNERS ANNOUNCED

Wow, what a weekend for the Jabead family! I hope it's a wonderful wedding and how exciting for your daughter, what an incredible opportunity! Tell her to feel free to share pics of the amazing food she'll get to eat!

Barb, sounds like it will be a bittwersweet weekend in the jabead household. Enjoy your time with your niece and wish your DD "Buon viaggio" from me.

Wishing all the Moms out there a very Happy Mothers' Day weekend :)

Next we received a couple of updates from StuffedwFluff. The first one is from her dinner last night at...

Yachtsman Steakhouse

First the delicious Yachtsman rolls...

Then for their appetizer...

Assortment of Artisanal Cheeses with assorted bread and seasonal accoutrements

"The cheese plate was amazing. I loved all of the pairings that came with each piece of cheese."

"We then had the filets and truffles Mac and Cheese."

8-oz Center Cut Filet Mignon with Mashed Potatoes, and Cabernet Wine Sauce

"The filet was heavenly, especially when paired with the onion they place on the plate."

Truffle Mac & Cheese - Orecchiette Pasta and Reypenaer Cheese

"The truffled mac and cheese was good and I was trying to place the familiar flavor. It tasted like au gratin potatoes or scalloped potatoes but with noodles instead."

"For our anniversary they brought us a tasting plate of surprise bites."

"We were told to guess each one. It was really fun, there was a peanut butter and jelly, a marshmallow, a truffle, candied jelly and some almonds covered in peanut butter. Such a fun way to end the meal. We love this place and come everytime we're here."

Wow Barb your schedule this weekend sounds crazy. As a mom with 2 kids thousands of miles away I can relate to the "nervous mother" hat. Be sure and take some time to enjoy yourself and have a special Mother's day.

Thanks for posting my pictures from last nights quick dinner at California adventure. Disney has done a fabulous job with Carsland. The first Cars movie has been wonderfully recreated. When California Adventure first opened (I think about 10 years ago) it really was only a 3 hour park. The improvements they have made are excellent and Coolpapa and I find ourselves heading to California Adventure as often as Disneyland these days.
Hopefully y'all will be able to take a trip west one of these days and check it out for yourself.

Just a quick note...my screen name is actually Coolnini. I know.....strange name. I liked your Cool"tini"(thinking mar"tini" here ) much better! Nini (pronounced the same as "tini" with an "n") is what my grandkids call me. Coolpapa and I have 10 grandkids. Our trip to WDW next week is adults only(just the 2 of us). I would love to be able to share WDW with the gkids one of these days.

Love this thread. It has really been so much help trying to decide on ADR's. I have made and cancelled so many reservations it is getting embarrassing. I need to just step away from the computer. I have seen several great reviews of Yachtsmans steakhouse with wonderful pictures. SOOOOOO yesterday I was able to move my Via Napoli to a lunch and got an evening reservation for Yachtsman's. I think we will be 10 pounds heavier when we get home!

Have a great weekend.

Jan

Thanks Barb for all that you do for us and God Bless you and your family. BTW I may sneak off to WDW solo on Thursday May 16th for 4 to 5 nights so I may be joining the list of live reporters!! The last weekend of the F&G is calling my name and it's so hard to resist the military salute discount right now!

Hi DDW! Glad to hear that your schedule is a little more relaxed now, so we might be hearing from you more again here on the DIS. :thumbsup2

Oh, and Brenda reminded me that you had a birthday recently, a very important one, so on the behalf of all of us here on the Live Thread...

:jumping1: :cool1: :cheer2::tigger: :dancer: HAPPY 21st BIRTHDAY !!! :mickeyjum:dogdance::banana: :woohoo:party:

Can you tell that we are all very excited for you??? ;)
Thank you so much! It definitely feels good to reach such a big milestone (but it feels better to be done with finals :rotfl:). I'm also looking forward to reading more updates again. :thumbsup2

The news you posted sounds really exciting as well - have fun at the wedding, and I hope your DD has an amazing time in Italy! :goodvibes

As for the updates: that Yachtsman tasting plate for dessert looks incredible! I like how macarons are starting to pop up in a few places across WDW. Cars Land also looks amazing, especially the rock work in the background. ::yes::

Sounds like a very exciting weekend! I'm sure that this thread is TONS of work, so you need a chance to relax and celebrate with family.

Not sure about the relaxing part, but there will be celebrating tomorrow! :cool1:

My brother (21) is over in Italy studying abroad currently. He is having the time of his life and never wants to come home! I'm sure DD#2 will have a fabulous time!

Thanks for the reassuring words, well except for the "never wants to come home" part. :lmao:

Almost all packed! pixiedust:

Have a great weekend Jabead and thank you for all the hard work you put into this thread.

Safe travels tomorrow and I'll talk to you soon! :thumbsup2

Barb - Enjoy your family events and I wish your DD all the best as she suffers, I mean studies in Italy. Have a great time at the wedding as well.

We will patiently await the live updates when you resume your duties here! ;)

To all the live reporters...Have a great trip and take lots of photos of your food!

Thanks Brenda and congrats on being featured on the Podcast. :)

Thanks Jan and sorry that I tried to change your name. I did put it in my phone correctly, I just messed it up when posting your update. Hmm...I wonder if the open bar will have martinis at the wedding reception tomorrow night??? ;) :rotfl:

It really is great to have both you and Becky posting here again. It seems like old times. :goodvibes

One quick update before I have to leave for the wedding rehearsal dinner.

This is a two-part snack update from StuffedwFluff.

The first snack is from Magic Kingdom's...

Sunshine Tree Terrace

Citrus Swirl - orange slush with vanilla soft-serve ice cream

"So freaking good. I like it better than the classic Dole Whips."

And then from the...

Plaza Ice Cream Parlor

All-American Sundae - old-fashioned vanilla and chocolate ice cream with hot fudge, peanut butter drizzle, whipped cream and a cherry

"This was good, but not worth the $6 I spent."

Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich - two freshly baked chocolate-chip cookies served with your choice of hand scooped ice cream

"Look at the size of this thing! The cookie was super soft and the ice cream was super yummy. Love this dessert. But the Plaza really needs a face-lift. The aisles are too small for strollers and it'd be nice to see the menu in more places."

Ha! Glad to see the birthday boy popping in!! :wave2:

Is that a jar of goo that I see for the YSH cheese plate??? Barb, I think we are both in agreement as what we think of that. :crazy2:

Thanks for the shout out! I was completely surprised and had no clue that there was a DisBoards top threads distinction. :upsidedow

Sunshine Tree Terrace

Citrus Swirl - orange slush with vanilla soft-serve ice cream

"So freaking good. I like it better than the classic Dole Whips."

I have been dreaming about Citrus Swirl for months. I can't wait until July! I had it for the first time last year and I was like "OMG, where have you been all my life?" :lovestruc

They may have changed the "goo" in the YSH cheese plate. It was pickled blueberries and it went so well with the cheese that it was parred with.

I was going to say, have a relaxing break YOU DESERVE IT, but then realised, I don't think you are going to get much chance to relax, so instead have a fab time :).

Have a great weekend :thumbsup2 .

Have an awesome weekend and I am so sorry I couldn't help out this weekend.:(

I'm sorry Rachel, I just realized that I forgot to send you a reply a couple of weeks ago regarding my decision to put the Live Thread on hold this weekend. It was around the time that the first Live Thread got closed down and I was having a small panic attack.

Anyway, no worries. Have a great (non-Disney) vacation! :)

I'm going to post a few updates this morning while I have my morning coffee and relax a bit before the wedding preparations and activities begin.

First up is an update from Ryann (RyMacJ) from their breakfast on Thursday at Animal Kingdom's...

Tusker House

Ryann said, "We absolutely loved Tusker House. We like to always try new places on our trips, but I think that one will end up being a repeat!" :thumbsup2

Next up is another update from Ryann, this one from a Blizzard Beach...

Polar Patio

Just in case you are like me and totally unfamiliar with this, I found this general description on the official Disney World website:

“We introduced the Polar Patios to Disney’s Blizzard Beach as a way for guests to have an extra special visit to the water park. These premium spaces offer guests a variety of amenities including a spacious area with cushioned furniture, all-day drink mugs, a personal locker and more.”

There are 15 different Polar Patio spaces throughout the water park that are booked on a first-come, first-serve basis. In addition to the amenities mentioned above, the spaces also include an attendant who can take food orders (separate charges for food apply), towels, a cooler with ice and bottled water. Six guests can enjoy the patio space (there is an additional fee for guests 7-10). The Polar Patios can be rented for either a full day or half-day depending upon availability.

And now for Ryann's pictures and thoughts regarding this experience...

"It was a splurge for sure, but so, so worth it in our opinions. We had six nice chairs in a covered, quiet area right by Tike's Peak, Summit Plummit, and a lazy river opening. We were also near a restroom."

"We received a cooler full of water that stays restocked, water park refillable mugs with a drink station nearby, and unlimited dry towels."

"There is an attendant who took our lunch order and then brought our food, and then the dessert later when we got hungry for it, since we receive one on the DDP."

"We also have a locker right here. I would definitely recommend this." :thumbsup2

10 April Game Points Awarded to Ryann for her review of a new experience for the Live Thread

Then going back to Krista (aladdinsgirl) at the Polynesian Resort and her pictures of the Club Level Evening Offerings:

Peanut Butter & Jelly Uncrustables

Pita Bread & Hummus

Wine & Beer

Fruit & Cheeses

Pineapple & Caramel Sauce

Veggies & Dips

Chili Meatballs & Crab Rangoon

View of lounge from the 3rd Floor

And one more pic...

"The view from our balcony."

5 April Game Points Earned + 1 Bonus Point for Balcony view pic

Next we have a snack update from Jill (jedijill) from the Contemporary Resort's...

Contempo Cafe

"Started Thursday morning off with a Chocolate Coconut cupcake from the Contempo Cafe...Hey, its ok to have cupcakes for breakfast on vacation! ;) The filling was coconut similar to the filling in Mounds candy. The cake was a light and moist chocolate topped with chocolate buttercream icing. I would definitely eat another one of these!" :thumbsup2
