Just Keep Swimming-March 31-April 7, 2013-Dining Review (updated 5/16)

I hope they have them at the Flower & Garden Festival next year :goodvibes

Meee too !! We always go during that time because the kids are out for Spring Break and the weather is so beautiful in Florida during that time. Warm enough to swim, but not so hot that you are miserable.

It was a great breakfast. We really enjoyed it. Definitely going back.

I see from your signature that you are sailing to Alaska in a month. Is it on a Disney Ship?? I want to do that soooo bad, but DH got sticker shock when he saw the price. I hope you do a TR, so I can read about it !!!

I am indeed cruising with Disney, we are sailing out of Vancouver on the Wonder. We booked it last year whilst we were on The Fantasy and I can't believe it's nearly here! :)

Oh and La Vie En Rose? .......... Standing ovation !!!

For dinner we ate at the Mara.

DS got chicken nuggets

And a cupcake for dessert. They had really cute cupcakes for Easter.

DD got a cheese flatbread

And a cute cupcake of her own.

And DH and I shared the chicken pita sandwich.

This was really good and we liked it a lot. Lots of fresh veggies and hummus. All of it added together provided a great flavor. I would get this again !!

We had this chocolate raspberry tart for dessert.

You can see fingerprints in there. DD was very curious about this and what it tasted like …LOL. It was pretty good if you like chocolate and raspberry flavors which we do. And really … how can anything taste bad if it is shaped like Mickey and has sprinkles on top ??

Was hoping for an update from you this afternoon so thank you :thumbsup2

There is just something about the nuggets at Disney (not the kids' ones, they are dire - like McDonalds) - they are just so tasty, with just the right amount of crunch and spice.

Those Easter cupcakes are super cute. Your reviews are getting me so excited for my March trip next year - I hope they have some of the Easter stuff available that early (since Easter is about a month after our trip).

Your Mara selections look so good! I too love the chicken nuggets at Disney. I never eat them anywhere else, LOL. Those Easter cupcakes are adorable, did they taste as good as they looked? I love chocolate and raspberries so your dessert choice would be right up my alley, YUM!! :thumbsup2

Great update, thank you for sharing!

I just found your food reviews today, excellent job! Based on your photos I am thinking me and DD, age 10, will be splitting meals at the CS places.

I like them, too. I just don't see how the kids can eat them. ALL. OF. THE. TIME.

The kids loved those cupcakes, so they must have been good. They were vanilla cake and the ears were white chocolate.

Great update, thank you for sharing!

:welcome: Thanks for stopping in to say hello. We always split stuff on the dining plan. It is a great way to stretch things out and not eat so much or waste food.

Breakfast

DD wanted a waffle for breakfast, so I went down to the Mara to get her one while everyone else got ready for the day.

This was a huge waffle and she couldn’t eat it all, so I had the rest of it. It came with bacon and DH ate that. It was the same crappy bacon they serve everywhere basically. The waffle was good though.

We couldn’t get DS to eat anything. Always a struggle to get breakfast in that boy. I just don’t understand it. I can’t WAIT to eat when I get up. I get peckish if I don’t and he does, too. It is just hard to convince him that he will feel better if he has breakfast. :faint:

Ooh the Mara is jumping to the top of my list for our December trip - everything looks great :)

We aren't staying at AKL but we pretty much always head over there for the great dining options and it's just such a beautiful resort to spend time wandering around

Those cupcakes look delicious :) hopefully they will have some nice holiday ones out when we visit

We had good food at the Mara and they have several options that are either vegetarian or something that can be modified to be vegetarian. Like the pita sandwich that DH and I shared would have still be really good without the chicken in it.

It is a beautiful resort !!

There was no shortage of cupcakes there. The kids really loved the Easter themed ones !!

The festival food looked good.
That rose slushie is the best.
The ice cream cone looked really good.
I love the flatbreads from The Mara.
It all looked really good.
Thanks for making me hungry. LOL

I just love the flatbread pizza in Disney. It's really good.

And I could go for a Mickey waffle right now. That looks delicious.

Thanks for the updates.

It did. DD loved it.

Lunch – Yak and Yeti Counter Service

I just love the themeing at AK.

For lunch, DH and I got some food from the Yak and Yeti counter service.

I got a side order of chicken fried rice

And some egg rolls

We split this and it was plenty of food. It was pretty tasty but nothing much different from your basic Chinese food. Both were snack credits, I think. We got this right when they opened around 11 AM or so and it was hot and fresh.

Did the chicken fried rice have peas in? Peas are the food of the devil :rotfl2:

We like the counter service at Yak and Yeti, it makes a nice change from burgers and nuggets :thumbsup2
