I am so excited!
I'll be at AKV Kidani in a 2 bedroom savannah view in just a little over 2 months!!:cool1:

I will have my DH, DS- 15 (the day after we get there he turns 15), DS-12, DD7 , and DD-4and myself. We have lots of character meals booked and a schedule made- with the help of touring plans.:thumbsup2

I'm still trying to decide if we want to splurge and go on the night vision safari.
I would probably take the boys. Trying to figure out when we can fit it in.:confused3

Also- I've searched but must have missed it- are the coffee makers the keurig kind or the Mr. coffee kind?

I love this thread- it's getting me even more excited!!:goodvibes

So here is a weird question.. I have a pool view room... My online check in says kadu trail or sunset savannah room... Why?

Oooh, you are gonna have the BEST time!!

The coffee makers take the senseo style pods--flat little coffee filter discs filled with coffee.

I was still nursing my sore throat, so I had tea that morning! But I did notice the "Joffrey" sign on the containers.

Heey, same boat here..:-)

Back at AKL from V&A . Wow! :-)

Akl is lovely, per usual. Did an anniversary button pinning ceremony when we got here...

No domes yet..Will try to do by Friday!

I love little DD3. I asked her if she would prefer Wilderness Lodge or AKL... price difference is about $50 per night so not MINOR for our weekend...and she said "Of course the Animal Hotel. We can do the other one NEXT time." But we won't! ;-) Love the Animal Hotel.

Although I will be so sad if they still have Nescafe when we are there. Seriously. Must. Work. Faster.

Mhm! Thankfully we have a few breakfasts scheduled at places that serve better coffee.:-)

There is also a new night vision safari. It is for guests 8+ and is ~$75 per person with a portion going to the conservancy fund. Here is my DD (12) Reilly's TR on it.

The night vision safari is extremely fun! I went on it with my dad, and we had a great time. We had to be at the Kindani Village by 9:45. We had a bit of trouble arriving there; the instructions on getting there were foggy. After we arrived (at Sanaa, the Indian restaurant), we checked in and waited for about five minutes. A guide came and escorted us to the safari truck outside. The guide (Jay) made us all feel at home by telling us a little about him. He worked at SeaWorld for 20-ish years, then came and worked here at Disney for 4 years. We came out to one of the plains behind the Village, then Jay handed out the night vision goggle-type-things- which were basically were glorified binoculars- and explained how to use them. The truck started up again and we were on our way, feeling heavily like secret agents. The night vision goggles allowed us to see wildebeest love in the distance. It was disturbing. (that was my dad, putting in his unneeded two cents) Now where was I? Oh, yes. We drove through a gate, then another. Jay told us that was just in case an animal did manage to get through, it could be stopped. He told us a story of a giraffe which waited by the gate, and would try to storm it. At that point, I started to get a little chilly. There's a word of advice; bring a jacket and/ or a blanket. We drove through the other set of double gates and went on our way. Zebras were the next sight we saw. Some sort of "Mountain zebra"; I'm not really sure. A bunch of antelope creatures, some ostriches, then back to zebras. A little pause with no animals, then more zebras. Right next to our truck. It sounds like a cliché, but they were so close if I reached out my hand I could have touched the nearest one. Giraffes came next, four of them. Two laying down, two standing up. As we slowly drove by, three of the four were looking at us. The other one? Staring up at the sky, and licking the tree it had decided to wrap its neck around. We did a loop, and went past a pond with a lot of birds. The types? Um... I'm not actually sure. Some type of pelican, I believe. We re- did the loop and went back around. As we got closer to Kindani, it got quite a bit colder. I think it was mostly the windchill. All in all, the night vision safari was a fun and educational expierence. I would definitely do it again.

I couldn't figure out how to link, but here is the post about the night vision safari.

WOOHOO, We're OFFICIAL!!

Sept 25-Oct 1 for Free Dining/Food & Wine in a Standard Room--hoping for a sprinkle of pixie dust for an upgrade, but content with whatever. Cheapest house in the best neighborhood :)

Next to decide on MNSSHP & to keep trying for a BOG ADR

One question--it used to be that we could request specific rooms/locations in a building/first floor/etc. Do I do that at online check in? Is it even an option? Even in a standard room we would be using the balcony and would prefer to be away from the smoking areas due to allergies/asthma...

Congrats on your reservation! :goodvibes Make your requests now. You can confirm them at online check-in. List the most important first; try not to list more than 3 (2 requests is best). Don't request a specific room; ok to request a specific floor, even a specific "pod".

We are not to discuss smoking on these threads, but I will add that most, if not all, of the rooms are far enough from those areas, that it won't be a factor. :thumbsup2 I think Ostrich Trail might be the best trail for you to request.

WHAT??? isn't this some kinda CRIME???? The first thing I do when I check in is head to Mara for Dome Therapy!!

:rotfl2::lmao:

....well, HERE, lemme git some o' yer MEDS:

How much of a difference is there between a standard room and a deluxe studio? (Sq ft, overall comfort/space, etc.). Got an email yesterday from a travel company and priced out the options...could change to a deluxe studio standard view for the same price as we're paying for a standard pool view room now. Not sure if we should switch or not...

What do you see with a standard view at Kidani?

And where do you refill mugs at Kidani?

Considering the switch to AKV deluxe studio...hmmm...will have to get all the info. first and talk to DH.

The room size is comparable at Jambo (resort room & studio); the studio at Kidani is a bit bigger. You give up the 2nd bed when you move from resort room to studio; but the sofa is a sleep sofa (sleeps 2) and you get a half-size refrigerator, microwave, and a toaster! :goodvibes

You refill the Kidani mugs at the gift shop and the pool bar.

The standard view at Kidani is a parking lot view -- I'm unsure if there are any other areas for "standard" view. :confused3

I hope that gives you some helpful information. For me, I'm happy to stay at either! :thumbsup2

If we're staying at AKL, can we walk over to Kidani and use the basketball court, shuffleboard court, tennis court etc?

I believe so. We were told that we could. As long as something isn't an exclusive DVC event, you should be good.
