We are planning our 25th wedding anniversary trip in October 2013.

Which resort would be best...we don't want to break the bank but would like something nice.

We are currently looking at Caribbean Resort and Port Orleans Riverside.

We had throught GF but that is way out of budget.

Thanks

You're going to get lots of different answers, so I'll throw mine in, too. I would choose Boardwalk Inn or Wilderness Lodge. Those are both deluxe resorts and the BWI is a little more deluxe than WL (and would be my first choice, but it is more expensive). DH and I have stayed at both. In fact, we did WL for an anniversary trip, but had DD along for that trip. At WL, we had an excellent celebration dinner at Artist Point. In March, DH and I stayed at BWI to celebrate our 22nd anniversary (a few months late because I had a business trip on our anniversary). DD did not join us for the March trip and we had a wonderful time doing things slower and more relaxed (DH's style). It's great to be able to walk to Epcot and DHS, my favorite theme parks, and we ate at Flying Fish, Cape May, and Le Cellier -- all walking distance, so transportation to dining was never an issue.

I vote for Wilderness Lodge. We have been once and going again in December...but with kids. I can see how it would be a nice resort for a couple. Nice signature restaurant, wonderful fireplace to sit in front of and have a drink.

WL is a really nice resort. And it is one of the lowest priced deluxe resorts. I would choose that one over a moderate if the funds allow it.

The Epcot area resorts are great, too. There are plenty of things to do there in walking distance of your resort.

For 25th I would go with Boardwalk Inn or YC IF you get a nice room discount....or if not discounts available I would get POR and maybe see about a Royal Room? I hear the grounds and lush gardens at POR are just beautiful to take walks on, likewise, the Boardwalk is pretty cool, the two of you could rent the surrey bikes and reminisce some...Happy Anniversary!!

If the deluxe resorts are out of your budget, then my vote would definitely be Caribbean Beach. Especially if it is just the 2 of you and you can get a king bed preferred room. The problem with the moderate resorts, is that you can pay for a king room OR a preferred room. But not both. One category would have to be a request only (and thus not guaranteed). But this remains one of our very favourite resorts because of the wonderful theming.

My second choice would be a king room at POFQ. Since it's such a small resort, the preferred category isn't even used there. DH and I just returned from a 10 day stay there where we were lucky enough to have a corner room with views of both the river and the pool. Very quiet (even when the cheerleaders were there) and relaxing. Loved having the availability of the boats to take us to and from POR and/or DTD.

If your budget allows for a moderate - I would endorse Port Orleans. IMHO, French Quarter is much more quaint, small and romantic. Perfect for an adult getaway!

If you want to splurge, I'd also put in a vote for Wilderness Lodge.

Port Orleans is my vote. It really doesn't matter which resort, both are great. My parents stayed at POR for their 50th anniversary and just loved it. POR finished a complete refurbishment in August 2012. At some point, I would like to try CBR.

If you like the feel of GF I would say you would like Boardwalk Inn. We celebrated our 30th at BWI and thought it had a feel kinda like GF for less cash. We went in Feb. and got a really good discount then. The location is also a BIG plus!

We also like Wilderness Lodge and it would be my second vote also but it is completely different (woodsy) from the GF and BWI.

We are also BIG fans of the POLY if that would be a option for you. We would probably choose the POLY over GF.

Congratulations and don't forget to tell them you are celebrating a "special anniversary" when you make/change your ressie!

If you're only looking at POR and CBR, my vote is DEFINITELY POR. It is much quieter in certain areas and the rooms have a better decor IMO. Happy anniversary!

Of the 2 you mentioned, my vote is CBR all the way. It is our favorite moderate by far. The laid back relaxed feel of the resort is a great break from the craziness of the parks. The grounds are lovely for romantic strolls in the evening. You can grab a drink, sit on the beach at Martinique and watch the higher fireworks from Illuminations. It's a favorite of my wife and I.

Neither. First of all you can count on some type of discount. For your anniversary with a budget in mind. WL for a deluxe or CSR for a moderate. Personally we are huge Poly fans but it may be out of your budget. We are trying the BC in June and that and the YC will be less then the GF but a close look and still a deluxe. Not helping am I?!?

Anyway minimal discount would be about 20% on a room (maybe more) try calculating with those numbers and start watching! We always book and then call back and apply the discount when it comes out.

We are going to Fort Wilderness cabins for our 25th in a month but have the kids along. We have stayed at most resorts over the years and I'd vote for POFQ if we were doing moderate. I didn't like CB. Wilderness Lodge would be my number 1 choice with no kids.
Happy Anniversary and have fun!

For a romantic vacation, I would pick POR out of the two. It has a very quiet, romantic atmosphere and the boat to DTD is a big plus in my book.
