I noticed on Facebook that there is a campfire on-site.

Where does this take place?

I do want to goto FW and goto the Chip & Dale night, but this would be great for the 1st night we arrive, before we goto bed.

If you're standing with your back to Old Port Royale and looking out at the lake, you'll walk around the main pool which will be to your left. The campfire is held on the beach near Trinidad North. I think that this would be a great activity to do on yoru first night.

Thank you!..soo ready for this vacation, got some extra spending money today making prom corsages so that was nice, United moved our flights but they turned out to be actually better times for us...we gained an hour more in Disney going and an hour more coming back!! yay. As you know we usually drive so I have been going crazy tonight trying to pack. Im used to just throwing the stuff in the car but Ive had to limit myself to two suitcases under 50 lbs each!! ( Alot of stuff got left on the bed in the spare room!!!) I figured if we need it, we will just buy it! I guess driving does have some benefits to it after all. We have hired a car with Avis at MCO as we plan on doing Clearwater or Johns Pass while we are there. Tomorrow...manicure, pedicure and hair..MONDAY!!! CBR!! ( hopefully these suitcases will close and be under 50lbs or my hubby will go crazy..lol ) I did online check in..or at least I THINK I did..the website was odd...I guess I will find out when i get there if it worked or not!!!

I did online checkin but there was not an option for near dining or near main pool. That is really our big request we want to be close to the pool but we are not paying for preferred but I just want as close as we can get with a standard room...should I just call and have this noted on reservation?

If I were you, I'd call and ask that your requests be noted on your reservation. Make sure that you put your requests in the order of importance to you.

Brilliant guys, thanks for the quick response.

That's great news on the Campfire.

We thought about 1st day there and after a munch at OPR, we were going to maybe see how we felt on our first night and head over to FW for Chip and Dale, but this is far better and we can plan that for another night.

Easy night, and if we feel tired we just take a stroll to our room.

Next month!!! :)

If in a preferred location what are the buses like?? Do you stop at EVERY stop (looks to be 7stops) before heading to the parks and/or on the way back from the parks??

Also any official word on a refurbishment/queen beds anytime soon at CBR?

The buses do stop at each village bus stop before heading out to the parks. If they use the front entrance, the first stop would be Martinique (half preferred/half standard), followed by Old Port Royale, Trinidad North (preferred), Trinidad South, Jamaica, Aruba and, lastly, Barbados. If they use the side entrance, the first stop will be Jamaica, followed by Aruba, Barbados, Martinique, Trinidad North and, lastly, Trinidad South.

A page or two back, I posted a copy of a live chat that I had with a Disney CM. They weren't even aware of the sprucing up that's currently going on in Jamaica. It is my hope that somebody who recently returned or is going soon will post info on what's going on over there.

**I wanted to add something to the above. Even though the buses make stops at each bus stop, it won't take long to make the loop around the resort. Of course, if there's someone in a scooter or wheelchair, it will take longer but that's the case at any resort.

You will learn very quickly at WDW resorts that you will always here how long the buses take. You can arrive at a buss stop and it is all on your timing not the buss. You can arrive one minute before the buss or one minute after the bus leaves or some where in between. Buses are usually about 20 min. apart. per park. WDW does a good job of this. Remember it is your timing. I only remember waiting 10 min. once. Enjoy the ride and music cause that park is going no where and let the driver take you to the park instead of you driving.
I talked to someone who drove and his wife and kids took the bus and they arrived about the same time but by the time he meet up with the family he was 5 min behind. He told this story to let people know it was not worth driving.
You are on vacation so relax and don't get in a hurry it will all be there when you get there. Why do people worry about how long it takes? Then don't go to WDW.

I agree! We've never run into an issue with the buses at the CBR and we've gone at some pretty busy times of the year. The loop around the resort doesn't bother us at all.

We have a car at our disposal and we park it as soon as we get to the resort and don't start it up again until we get ready to leave almost two weeks later. I'm happy to let Disney do the driving for me.

Hi everyone, new to posting but been lurking for a few months since booking our trip. Decided on CBR because of the price, activities for kids, and the large layout. We are all pretty excited and this will be the first trip for my wife and kids. I was there in 80s when EPCOT was fairly new and River Country was the water park.

When planning the trip I looked at reviews as well and I have learned over the last 15 years of using the internet is vacation reviews have to be taken with a grain of salt. I automatically ignored any review that complained about walking, mousekeeping, lines, or food. Those to me are picky individuals who enjoy casting stones from the anonymity of the internet. After filtering that out I found very useful and positive reviews that helped shape our decision on the CBR

For online check in we requested Jamaica and a second floor room, and plan on taking advantage of the resort the day we land for some swimming, boating, and whatever else catches our eye. Will definitely report back during and after trip.

First of all, welcome to the Disboards! :flower3: You'll find that we are a bunch of friendly, Disney lovin' folks!

You are going into this vacation/resort stay with the perfect attitude. I totally agree with you on the bad internet reviews. I've found that most people like to post bad reviews but not a lot of people post good reviews which is a bit puzzling.

I hope that you have a great stay at the CBR! I have a lot of CBR pics in my Excuse Me trip report. You can find the link in my signature below. Just click on it and it'll take you there. Don't be intimidated by the size of my report, there are handy dandy links in post #8.

Great attitude! Have a fantastic time and I look forward to hearing about your stay at CBR!

We leave 4 weeks today for 10 days at CBR, and I can't stand the wait!!!! :dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3:

(Posting here 'cause I knew you would understand)

Just checked out of CBR this morning (moved to ASMo) and thought I would post my first experience...

Did online check in and requested Jamaica and close to transportation. When we checked in both requests were honoured and we had the BEST room. Room 4404 corner room bldg 44 in Jamaica with the bus stop right out front. As for refurbs - hate to be the bearer or bad news but didn't see much...there were a few guys out painting the bldg each day and that was it..as for the interior the only difference I noted from pics I had seen before hand was no colourful Nemo blanket on bed and an addition of a green pillow....not sure if this is the usual decor?

Overall we had good luck with buses, grounds were beautiful, and I fell in love with CBR despite a few grumpy CM's in Port Royale... I'll be back to give a better review when I get home....writing on an ipad mini kinda sucks...

Last thing ill say is I've got 4 nights at ASMo left and so far I wish I was back at CBR :rotfl:

Heck yeah, we understand! We'll be back at the CBR in 15 days. We're giving Port Orleans French Quarter a try on May 21st before moving back to the CBR.

Thanks so much for posting! I'm glad to hear that you had a great stay at the resort. I appreciate your posting the "bad news" about the work going on in Jamaica. All of us here were wondering what, if anything, was happening over there. Hum...I wonder if they are changing out the bedding in the rooms? Usually, there's a bright colorful bedspread on the beds.

I am glad you had such a nice time in CBR! I'm looking forward to your review and comparison, right now I'm booked in ASMo for October but I'm looking for any incentive to switch to CBR. Is the difference in room size noticeable? I have 3 kids, one in a pack and play, and I've heard in the values the PnP makes for a very tight fit.

If its in the budget I would recommend switching if size is a concern. We had 3 adults in CBR room and still felt like we had room - double sinks were great for multiple ppl getting ready.... Now that I'm in ASMo I really notice the difference...feels much smaller and I'm one adult...I will say though depending on the age of your kids (if they are quite young) they may enjoy the overall theming and pool area a little more at ASMo :thumbsup2
