Stopped by POP today to have lunch and check out the new menus. I felt very lost in the food court! A lot of people were wandering and saying how they missed the old menus. I too miss the old menus and the "American" feel of the food at POP. I asked for a plain cheeseburger as it was not on the menu. They took away the yummy chicken alfredo, chili dog, among other things. The burger was still very good and fresh though!

So this got me thinking, we all love POP, but what are your reasons that you love POP so much more than the other values, and maybe even all of the other resorts as well!?

Pop is my favorite because of the lake!! I love just meandering in the evening next to the lake when we've had a busy day at the park or first thing in the morning when it's quiet. So relaxing. :goodvibes

I'm devastated to hear that the chicken alfredo is gone!!! That was my favorite POP dinner!!

Yep on our trip it was coke and so bummed when returned 4 years ago and it was no more...
I remember when you could get orange juice and milk! But that was when our cups would never expire.... I think we should have a thread about how many mugs we've bought over the years!
I refuse to count !! Haha!

They should take that into account. At least if you are going multiply times in one year, let people use the same ones for that year. I have 2 sets for this year. I certainly don't need another. That isn't counting for all of the mugs I have from previous trips. How many mugs do we all really need? :rotfl:

How's the weather, is it still raining? We check in in 4 days. Is has rained her at home for about 2 months straight. I am really looking forward to some sunshine.

The weather today was GORGEOUS! Warm, but not hot, not humid, sunny and a light breeze :)

I don't suppose anyone has any food court menu updates available? Maybe a good photo of the new menu or something?

That all sounds so good! Excited to see the changes in just 94 days (but really...who is counting???). The mussels and spring roll sub have my interest piqued!

Going early helps eliminate the crowd issues in the food court. Of course that means you have to get up early, but hey...there's coffee...and POP Waffles!

That looks....heavenly! I love that quiet time...early in the AM at Pop. Nothing better...

Enjoy your day!

Question: can you request to stay at a certain section at Pop?

Yes, you can make the request when you book or during online check in. If you do online check in, it lists the five decades (1950s - 1990s) as choices. Should you want to be more particular, like request a certain building in a particular decade, you should make that request by phone -- either at booking or later.

Great thanks!! It's already booked. I booked by phone. Is there a better choice over another?

It's really a matter of opinion. Here is a link to the resort map that also shows the different rate classifications. http://i962.photobucket.com/albums/...read/PopCenturyMap2012RoomCategoriesFINAL.jpg

I always reserve a standard room at Pop; paying for a preferred, pool, or preferred pool view is not anything I would pay for, but plenty of people do and have very valid reasons for doing so. I prefer a "lakeview" room and like to have a first floor room. The decade section is less important to me. I have had rooms in all three buildings of the 1950s section and in Building 6 of the 1970s. They were all fine.

Take a look at the resort map and see what appeals to you. When my DD was little, she loved to be by Lady, so the 1950s section was great. Now, she likes lakeview and doesn't care about the decade.

You can call anytime before arrival to make a room request. The one thing I'd caution against is getting your hopes/expectations so attached to a particular section/building that, if your request is not met, you're totally bummed. It's vacation and chances are that you'll not spend all that much time in your resort room to make its location all that important.

Janet B - glad to have you back on the thread. Noticed you were away for a bit. :goodvibes

Janet,
Welcome Back! Glad to finally see you back on the thread! have missed you too!!
I tried to send you a PM abit ago, but your box was full! :rotfl2:
I was going to give you a heads up about the menu change! ;)
I figured I'd wait to see if anyone there noticed. Otherwise, once I got there and saw all of the actual changes I'd start posting them. I'll actually have my laptop this trip, so I can take and upload pics for the thread if you'd like! :thumbsup2

jcarwash and stitchlovestink... thank you, you are both very sweet .... and thanks to Sandi as well -- who sent her good wishes to me via text.. :flower3:. Very busy with life, my son was home for a visit, etc. I did miss the POP but knew it was in good hands with you all. :goodvibes

and yes stitchlovestink, would absolutely love to have you post pictures!!

One of tonight's specials was pot roast, also they said tomorrow night would be sesame chicken over white rice.

Yum!! Gee if I could jump on the plane I can still make it for dinner!! Enjoy!

Hi Everyone, we stayed at POP for the first time in August and loved it, mainly because there is only one bus stop, unlike the All-Stars that share buses (the All-Stars being our usual value resort). :)

So this got me thinking, we all love POP, but what are your reasons that you love POP so much more than the other values, and maybe even all of the other resorts as well!?

Theming;
The Vibe, energy and fun atmosphere
The friendliest CM's
Having the lake (and AOA over the bridge!)
Great transpo

I'm here. First time at Pop, WDW and Florida.

Both pools are fine, and are themed to the decade(s). It somewhat depends if you have a preference for the 50s or 80s/90s theming. We stayed in both areas and like both pools. :goodvibes We probably prefer the 50s theming a bit more. :)
