Free Dining 2013

Now I've got this idea of late August free dining for Disney Visa holders rolling around in my head! I have just not been able to get over the surprise of no August free dining dates, after being offered for the last 9 years. It certainly would not be as good as a GP FD offer, but would still make a lot of people happy. I'm not even looking for my personal free dining dates until later on this year, but I can't wait to see what they release tomorrow :-)

Thanks everyone for bounce back info!! One more question is it only for the resort you are in or could you book in any resort? Thanks! This is our first time staying on Disney property! :-)

When are you going? October?

Im just getting SUPER excited!! Going to set my alarm and try to settle down so I could sleep!! lol :-)

I'm hoping that my wait time on hold isn't going to make me late for work tomorrow ... but I have to get my priorities straight. I mean, I do need my job, but this is DISNEY we're talking about so the boss may just have to wait! :rolleyes1

The more I think about this I begin to wonder if I really need to worry. I booked pretty late in the game last year when FD was offered, I mean the promo had been out for weeks and I still got my first pick. Granted, I was after Fantasia at ASM and not AoA (don't worry, I am after Pop this year!) but still.... hopefully this makes some of you feel a little better that if we can't get in right at 7 we aren't all doomed! :goodvibes

Think of it this way, if say 500 people call in the morning, and they would be lucky to have that many, that's still a drop in the well to the number of rooms they have to offer. They're doing free dining because bookings need to be up, so it's not just a room here or there we're talking about. Also remember that the few hundred folks have dates spread out through september, and you realize that, with the exception of the high demand areas, most of the resorts will be obtainable for days, weeks, or even a month after tomorrow.

I have a question that probably has been asked a billion times but i need to know. i booked free dining bounceback last year. we are going september 1st -9th. relatives of mine would like to go with us. the free dining dates are starting sept 2nd. would they be able to get free dining sept first too as well as the remainder of the trip (2nd-9th). if not would i be able to add another room to my bouceback reservation? tia!

No, they would just have to come on the 2nd.

I know!! haha! should we call right at 7 or a few minutes before? Sry this is my first time calling like this for a promo!!!

I sure hope we all don't set our alarms and sit on hold for 90 minutes to find out the offer is not until later in the week! Here's to hoping for a very happy morning!!!! :thumbsup2

When are you going? October?

We do like late October, but my favorite time to go is mid December - we usually do October every third year. Of course, I looked at the December resort rates and they have jacked up the prices starting December 13 this year - it's not usually until the 19th. We are going to California this summer and doing DL and CA this summer, so we may only do 7 nights at WDW in December in stead of our usual 9 or 10. Or I could back it up to second week of November for cheaper rooms and free dining, but then we miss the candlelight processional and holidays around the world. Decisions, decisions . . .

They would need to book a room only reservation for the 1st, and start a FD package on the 2nd. That comes with the risk of having to change rooms, but they will do their best to keep them in the same room.

You can't add them to your Bounceback reservation at this point. If the FD offer starts on September 2, they would need to do a room only reservation for September 1 and then start their FD package on September 2. With a FD promo your check in date must fall within the promo dates to have it applied to your entire stay.

So my crazy post maybe wasn't as crazy as I was thinking??? I honestly meant it more as a joke than anything--not thinking I could be lucky enough to actually get that FD end of August that I've been praying for. I certainly am not counting on it but will be thrilled. And I'll get to say I said it first!!!

So they really did have a DV only offer at one point? I had no idea about that. Thought it was always DV a few days before and then GP, but always same offer.

Yes, just that one time in 2008, they offered a free dining discount to DV holders for select dates in October - December and did not have a general public offer for those dates. We were so thrilled to get it, as we had not been back to WDW for the holidays since 2005. The first GP FD promo for October - December was in 2009. I certainly don't want to get anyone's hopes up either, but your post did make me think of that one instance :-)

It's not exclusive to the resort you are staying at, you can book at other resorts :-)
