i am thinking of buy a second resale contract probably with a different use year. does anyone alternate their contracts each year in order to book the room needed for your family? i'll try to explain what i mean - if it makes sense:

for example if i had one AKV contract for 100 points and one BLT for 150 points and planned to go annually - could i do this?

year 1 - need 180 points - use year 1 AKV points, borrow year 2 AKV points. bank year 1 BLT points.

year 2- need 225 points use banked BLT points and year 2 BLT power points.

year 3 - use year 3 AKV points, borrow year 4 AKV points. Bank year 3 BLT points.

It makes senses. I think you will find many members have two different home resorts and alternate annual trips such as you suggest.

That's our plan - waiting (in Rofr now) on our first 150 point contract at VB (my DH loves the beach) then hoping to get another 150 point contract next year are SSR or OKW. We've been renting condo's at the beach and points for our WDW stays last 4 years and decided this would make so much more sense!

It makes sense up to a point. IMO I would get them all the same UY as you've presented it. The only way I'd purposefully get 2 UY's is if you plan to travel at 2 different times of the year and using a specified contract/UY gives you insurance for canceling or changes. I'm assuming you own BLT 150 now, if you get AKV or SSR you'll have a later expiration than most others and you could still use the points together at the 7 month window. With planning, 150 BLT points and say 100-150 SSR points could function much as 250-300 BLT points by booking what you could at the 7 month window and rotating the points. Of course owning 2 higher demand resorts you can do it both ways to use more current UY points and less borrowed points.

This strategy makes sense and it's one of the reasons why we own at both BLT and BWV. Another approach you can take is to do split stays, where you use each contract each year to spend half your trip at one resort and half your trip at another. Although packing and moving mid trip is a bit of pain, when you get to the second hotel it's like second vacation!

We own at 3 resorts with 2 different UY (200 June OKW and will have 225 August HH and AKV...waiting on ROFR on 50 of the Aug points). If you were going to buy 50-80 points, I'd say it really is best to have the same UY as you can't do too much with a smaller contract even with banking/borrowing (unless you always get studios). But, since you're looking at moderate sized contracts, I think you'll be fine with 2 different UY. You will have 2 different member #s and if you ever needed to use both for 1 reservation, you would book it in 2 parts and link the 2 parts (would get 1 room the entire stay but would have to go to desk for new keys and housekeeping would think you're checking out). Just for ease of use, I'd prefer same UY...but it is really not all that big of a problem.

Have you been to VB yet? If the condos you were booking were on the Gulf side of Florida, you will be disappointed in the Atlantic side beaches of VB.

I would agree at your points levels but not at 150 & 100. I've had as many as 3 UY and it's not that big a deal but once you start trying to combine points for a given trip, it gets more difficult.

We are waiting for ROFR for BWV. Our best friends (who we travel with annually) are going to buy a contract soon...probably at AKL (so we can have a good shot at the value studios) or SSR.

So...it's KINDA like we'll have two contracts for two different resorts.
