Visiting AKL to view animals

On our second to last day we've decided to go and checkout Animal Kingdom Lodge in the morning and then have our lunch there before heading to Hollywood Studios.

I know many have said there are places to view the animals and such.
Just wondering if anyone could provide me with more details? On where to go? Or if there are feeding times? Are there CM's to chat with that tell you about animals? Do you just look yourself?

Any info would be great :)

Thanks!

The most common place is out back of the resort - when you enter the lobby just walk straight through & out the back doors. There are CMs out there that will talk to you endlessly about the animals, if you want.

There are other tucked away spots too. There are rocking chairs to sit that overlook the savannah at the back of the lobby off to the right. There are also animal viewing areas behind the pool, and right by the hot tubs. If it's raining there are areas to see the savannahs in every hallway in AKL.

When we're not staying at AKL, we could spend hours meandering around the resort!

Absolutely, this is a must do! Walk straight to the back of the lobby and head down the stairs. Out back is a viewing area with CMs always present so you can ask questions. I believe they also have info sheets on the animals, if not ask in the lobby. There are other viewing areas periodically along the resort hallways, and a flamingo pond beyond the pool.

Sanaa has become one of my new favorite places; right before you go into the restaurant, there is a door to your right that leads out to a fire pit and the animals are right there.

If you turn around and look up, there are rocking chairs on the second floor that have a lovely view.

That sound lovely! Thanks for sharing :)

I also read somewhere something about animal crayon rub on photos with CMs around lunch time. Does anyone have info on that? Is it for resort guest only? Or if we are there and they start can we join in?

DS4 and I will arrive 7 hours before my parents. I thought AKL might be a good way to have fun, but not too much fun before they arrive.

We're staying at OKW. Is the best way to get there to take a bus to AK and then another bus to AKL? Would it be the same for the return trip back to OKW?

We have stayed at OKW twice and found the easier way to get to any of the other resorts was to take the boat to DTD and get a direct to resort bus from there and then to the reverse on the way back. If its later on in the evening and we have missed the last boat we get the bus back.

Awesome. Thanks!

Just like most of the other resorts, they do offer various activities throughout the day. If you go here -> http://www.aklresort.com/category/image-galleries/akl-maps-and-printed-materials you can see a few of the older handouts. They are fairly consistent but may change up from week to week, and are usually different each day. I know that at Jambo House there is a bulletin board down next to the Boma restrooms that shows the activities for the week, but I can't recall where one is at Kidani Village.
