For those with Neverland Club experience, would you think a 12-year-old would have fun there? My oldest is not very mature but very laid back, still into whimsical things and Disney, plays (by choice, lol) with his younger brothers so I am thinking he will be fine but wanted opinions anyway. I know they have video games, are there organized activities by age group? This age is difficult for mom and dad to have Disney date time, but we are really hoping to do Party for the Senses.

Our son went to the Neverland Club on pretty much every trip from ages 5-12. He always had a good time. I don't recall the kids being separated by age ... they just gravitated to whatever interested them. Ds was very into video games, so I'm sure that's how he spent his time, especially when he was 11 and 12.

He's 20 now, and when we talk about past trips, he'll still smile and say that his "kid" time (without us, LOL) at the NLC was some of his favorite at WDW. He thought it was one of the best parts of staying at the resort.

When my girls were there, the activities were organized by age groups. Just as pp mentioned, kids just gravitated toward activities and games they were interested in doing. They had dress up, arts and crafts, movies, board games, video games, toys, etc. Kids can be entertained by the caregivers, hang with other kids, or play more alone. Whatever style they prefer. He will have fun

In the new rooms, are the beds off the floor so that you can slide things under for storage, or do they have the solid board under them like many of the resorts have?

I want to request a location. What would bw an ideal building for 2 kids ages 8 and 7? We would want to be in central location to the big pool, and main building.

I know, I know. People are all the time wondering which building to request. Well, I have always requested Fiji, 3rd floor and have always gotten it. We wanted to try Tokelau this year to get on the other side of the resort. Unfortunately it will be under renovation during our trip in late May/early June.

How do you all feel about Tahiti garden view?

First floor rooms have a patio that is slightly less private than the balconies (which in most buildings are only on the third floor).

To answer your first question, if you booked a standard view room and you want a room close to the main building/pool, Samoa is probably your best bet. If you booked lagoon/TPV, since Samoa is all standard view rooms, Tuvalu is probably the best longhouse for close to the pool/main building (Aotearoa, is slightly closer, but the views aren't that great). Tahiti is a little further from both, but is really close to the TTC (where you will get the monorail to Epcot, and where you can also get a monorail to the MK) so that is also a good lagoon/TPV room building.

My opinion on requesting longhouses is this.....naming a longhouse does not tell the room assigner what location attributes are most important to you. If you request a certain longhouse and it is not available, the assigner has no preference info to assign a room that fits your needs. When you make requests attached to your reservation, there seems to be room for two small requests. I would choose something like 3rd floor, near pool or 1st floor, near TTC, or 3rd floor near marina, or near GCH, facing pool. It gives them info on what you need. If you really want to name longhouses, use two like Tahiti or Tokelau...or Samoa or Roratonga. That will give them 2 location choices in case one is not available.

FWIW, we have had rooms in both Aotearoa and Tokelau. We loved them both for different reasons. I honestly like all the locations at Poly as they each have their own attributes. Our family wants balcony, water view. The only view I will not accept is facing a parking lot so facing the water could be lagoon or pools so it is all good (and interior gardens would work as well for our family) On our second trip, they assigned us a room in Aotearoa facing the monorail. I kindly asked for another room not facing the monorail and it took some time but they were able to reassign us on the opposite side facing the lagoon. Love the CMs at the Poly!

I'm here now--you cannot slide anything under the beds because of the boards--but there are two closets in the room for suitcases

Is it likely that, if anything, they will just be in the general surveying phase at that point (aka no construction noise/ugliness)? Or is it still just entirely way too early to speculate?

We would really love to return to our beloved Poly during MLK weekend, but are a bit nervous about the possibility of construction, closed down pools, etc. Crossing the fingers that work doesn't begin until post-January!

We just got back from our first trip to Disney World and our first stay at the Poly. Wow! We all LOVED the resort. Thank you all so much for all of the information. We had TPV rooms on the third floor of Tahiti and the location was perfect. It rained pretty much our entire trip so we really couldn't take advantage of the pools much, but we still had a fabulous time. Can't wait to go back!
